Abstract: Speech quality assessment is one of the key matters of voice services and every provider should ensure adequate connection quality to end users. Speech quality has to be measured by a trusted method and results have to correlate with intelligibility and clarity of the speech, as perceived by the listener. It can be achieved by subjective methods but in real life we must rely on objective measurements based on reliable models. One of them is E-model that we can consider as mainly adopted method in IP telephony. This method is based on evaluation of ransmission path impairments influencing speech signal, especially delays and packet losses. These parameters which are common in IP network can affect dramatically speech quality. In this article we present a new modification of Emodel that takes into consideration the cascade codecs arrangement. The proposed correction function improves the current computational non-intrusive approach that is described in recommendation!

Abstract: Quite recently, Neutrosophic Logic was proposed by Florentine Smarandache which is based on non-standard analysis that was given by Abraham Robinson in 1960s [1]. Neutrosophic Logic was developed to represent mathematical model of uncertainty, vagueness, ambiguity, imprecision, undefined, unknown, incompleteness, inconsistency, redundancy, contradiction. Neutrosophic logic is much more generalised and capable of handling and representing uncertainty, indeterminacy and gaps in information as compared to fuzzy logic. The advantage of neutrosophic logic is clearly evident in the systems developed that utilize neutrosophic logic. Further augmentation in the adaptation and learning capabilities of neutrosophic systems can be done using neural networks and genetic algorithms. Neural networks have been extensively researched and hybridised with the fuzzy systems so as to impart learning and adaptation abilities to the hybridised structures. As is evident that neutrosophic!
logic is an extension to fuzzy logic, so it is proposed in this paper to give extension to the existing neuro-fuzzy systems in the form of neuro-neutrosophic systems. It is expected that the proposed hybridisation models: neuro-neutrosophic systems would indeed inherit advantage of both the complementary techniques and they would be much more tolerant in it's working as compared to neuro-fuzzy systems.

Abstract: This contribution outlines the design methods used for the chosen shelters including all necessary information and the basic parameters for the calculations for the protective elements. In the proposed design the modifications are presented by means of AutoCad software. The article is also devoted to issues of the provision of materials in the event of an emergency in order to improve the protective characteristics of the shelters. Possible methods for the provision of materials are described through the use of schematic diagrams. In the final section of the article figures created in 3D using AutoCad software can be found in order to provide easier visualisation.

Abstract: . This paper describes static and fatigue analysis of leaf spring with seven layers usually is used in the automotive suspension systems. The material of steel and composite multi leaf spring made up of glass fiber reinforced polymer is investigated for life estimation prediction. The dimension of a conventional steel leaf spring of a light commercial vehicle is taken and the static simulation has been verified with experimental results. A composite multi leaf spring using E-glass/Epoxy has also fabricated for analysis with the same shape and dimensions for comparison of the load carrying capacity, stress, deflection, Factor of safety, mode shapes, stiffness, weight and cost. Finite element analysis has been utilized for modeling and analysis in three dimensional cases to derive the static and natural frequencies of the leaf spring. The fatigue life of steel and composite leaf springs is also predicted in this study. Compared to the steel spring, the composite leaf!
spring is found to have 29.99 % lesser stress, 42.45 % higher stiffness and 11.10 % higher first natural frequency than that of steel leaf spring. A weight reduction of 66.67 % is also achieved by using composite leaf spring of E-glass/Epoxy. Although the E-glass/Epoxy composite is much expensive than steel, but the results represented that the fatigue life of it is more than that of steel leaf spring.

Abstract: Application of fuzzy PD controller based on self learning algorithm for SVC device has been investigated in this paper. This approach used sensitivity model for learning Self Learning Fuzzy Logic parameters. This has been improved by adding up an integral term whose gain coefficient is also synthesized by learning that is actuated after completion of the main learning algorithm. The paper considers the conventional PID controller and compares its performance with respect to the proposed SLFLC controller. Several fault and load disturbance simulation results are presented to emphasize the efficiency of the proposed SVC controller in a TNB 25- bus of south Malaysian power system and New England 39 Bus system.

Abstract: The appropriate model and consecutive design is the basis for building of successful Contact center. Excessive complexity of model can be sometimes contra-productive. The main goal of this work is to analyze of Markov model M/M/m/∞ properties in Contact center environment. This model offers wide range of important traffic parameters calculations of the system, while keeping transparent and simple structure – the key factor in design of Contact center. The second part of the paper deals with the modelling of contact center equipped with Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system. IVR system is modeled by Markov model M/M/∞/∞. Abstract: This paper presents a Differential Evolution algorithm combined with Opposition Based Learning (DE-OBL) to solve Economic Load Dispatch problem with non-smooth fuel cost curves considering transmission losses, power balance and capacity constraints. The proposed algorithm varies from the Standard Differential Evolution algorithm in terms of three basic factors. The initial population is generated through the concept of Opposition Based Learning, applies tournament based mutation and uses only one population set throughout the optimization process. The performance of the proposed algorithm is investigated and tested with two standard test systems, the IEEE 30 bus 6 unit system and the 20 unit system. The experiments showed that the searching ability and convergence rate of the proposed method is much better than the standard differential evolution. The results of the proposed approach were compared in terms of fuel cost, computational time, power loss and individual!
generator powers with existing differential evolution and other meta-heuristics in literature. The proposed method seems to be a promising approach for load dispatch problems based on the solution quality and the computational efficiency.

Abstract: Circuits with switched capacitors are described by a capacitance matrix. As there are also graph methods of circuit analysis in addition to algebraic methods, it is clearly possible in theory to carry out an analysis of the whole switched circuit in two-phase switching exclusively by the graph method as well. The phase of switching are called even (E) and odd (O), not 1 and 2 to avoid confusion between the sign of the phases and of the nodes. For this purpose it is possible to plot a Mason graph of a circuit, use two graphs to reduce oriented graphs for all the four phases of switching, and then plot a summary MC-graph from charge and voltage graphs. Summary MC-graph is now constructed by the incomplete common skeletons of the V-graph and the Q-graph in all four phases, branches obtained for EO and OE phase are drawn between these nodes, while their resulting transfer is multiplied by to express the delay between the two phases. This summary MC-graph can then be !
interpreted by the Mason's relation to provide transparent voltage transfers, and so it is possible to reach the final result a quite fully graphically. Abstract: Major problem of tripping signal of a relay based on steady state component does not warranty faster tripping schemes for protection of extra high voltage transmission lines. Proposed work has made an attempt to find solution to the problem of fault detection and location by relay using post fault high frequency signals. Transmission line protection using travelling waves generated at the time of fault are used as trip signals of a travelling wave relay.Paper has made an attempt to obtain travelling waves components in the form of forward wave and backward waves from post fault components of voltage and current. Abstract: In today's automotive applications the usage of BLDC (Brushless DC) motors is becoming very popular because of its advantages over the DC motors. For automotive applications the permanent fault diagnosis and protection of the BLDC motor and control system is mandatory. This paper presents several concepts for extensive diagnosis implementation for different fault conditions that may appear in the BLDC motor or its control electronics (the three phased bridge inverter and control ASIC). The detectable failure conditions by the methods described in this paper are: short circuit conditions at the motor terminals (short to battery, GND or even short between the phase terminals); internal, external power supply voltages and over-temperature failure conditions; position, hall signals failure conditions. The implementation is done using hardware circuits which can be easily integrated in the BLDC motor control ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit).

Abstract: IEEE 802.16 standard is created to compete with cable access networks. In the beginning end users are immobile and have a line of sight with base station, now it moved to mobile non line of sight (NLOS) with the new standard IEEE 802.16e and IEEE 802.16j. The new IEEE 802.16j standard which is an amendment to IEEE 802.16e is mobile multi hop relay (MMR) specification for wireless networks. In this paper we have proposed a new adaptive model for transparent mode IEEE 802.16j MMR networks and studied about the throughput enhancement, optimal relay placement and spatial reuse techniques. We have used four mobile stations (T-MS) connected to transparent mode base station (TMR-BS), which are moving at a speed of 20 m/sec. The T-MS are initially placed near to TMR-BS and are moving away from TMR-BS. The average throughput achieved without relay T-RS is 792.045913 Kbps and the average throughput achieved with relay TRS is 1261.856667 Kbps. There is 37.2318 % increase in t!
he throughput by placing transparent mode relays TRS at suitable position.

Modification of porous polyurethane surface results in improved mechanical stability, sound absorption and heat resistance, which is a key parameter for usage in insulation of aircraft hulls and is subjected to stringent safety regulations. Application of glass fibre powder onto the polyurethane surface is a technological procedure, providing material with modified pores area. Pores with this modification exhibit sound absorption increased up to 50 % in the frequency range from 50 to 6400 Hz.

Abstract: Among the array of innovative Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) that could be deployed in the construction industry, radio frequency identification (RFID) technology stands out as a radical innovation that can overcome materials flows deficiencies. This paper, based on an exploratory field research, analyzes the potential of RFID for the management of materials across four layers of one construction supply chain. Results reveal that the RFID-enabled materials management application would lead to a more efficient communication within and between the four layers of the supply chain, more accurate inventories, a tighter project control, more efficient quality controls, and, overall, a smoother optimization of day-to-day materials management.

Abstract: Research related to biomedical, including dentistry related cases, usually involves medical experts to do the interpretation and finalized the diagnosis. However this procedure might introduces subjectivities in the diagnosis and the possibility of variability in the interpretation might be expected. Factors that contribute to this issue come from the nature of radiographic images that is noisy and low in contrast. Due to that research related to contrast enhancement algorithms are the accepted image processing method to assist medical officers in doing more reliable interpretation. Thus this work presents an analysis of contrast enhancement algorithms (CEA) applied to digital intra-oral radiographs images. Two types of CEA named Sharp Median Adaptive Histogram Equalization (SMAHE) and Sharp Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization (SCLAHE) are compared with the original images. Abstract: The paper presents a validation method of the information systems conceived for the business environment. Abstract: The major problem for Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) is the limited energy supply of the sensors. The research in this area is focused on making smaller sensors with low power consumption. Some of the most common techniques in prolonging the lifetime of the sensor network are data compression, routing algorithms, data aggregation, scheduling and synchronization. In this paper, an adaptive routing algorithm (ARA) suited especially for grid WSN is presented. The algorithm takes into account the residual energy of the sensor nodes and configures the paths in order to maximize the network lifetime. It also presented data aggregations techniques based on temporal and spatial correlation characteristic to for monitoring and data acquisition sensor networks. Tests were performed on an OmNET++ simulating platform, comparing ARA with already existing algorithms for grid WSN and highlighting the advantages of using the routing algorithm together with the data aggregation tec!
hnique. Additionally, a test to determine the most energy effective place of the sink in the network and a comparison between square and hexagonal topology for WSN are performed.

Abstract: In this paper we present a new control structure to extract the maximum power of a wind energy conversion system based on the double fed induction generator (DFIG). The proposed algorithm combines the nonlinear Backstepping approach and the field orientation scheme applied to control the rotor side converter (RSC) and the grid side converter (GSC) of the DFIG. The proposed strategy is asymptotically stable in the context of Lyapunov theory. Simulations results show interesting performances of the system in terms of the reference tracking stability and the robustness against parameters variations.

Abstract: Transaction cost theory has been used to explain the governance of the organization supply chain for decades. However it can not be used to explain the governance change of the organization supply chain in Taiwan¡¦s hi-tech industry. Based on contingency theory, a precious study then adopted two factors to explain the governance changes between upstream and upstream players in a supply chain. The two factors proposed in the study are relative profitability and technology complexity. The previous used a binary value (either 1 or 0) to describe the factors. It however can not describe the gradual changing value between 0 and 1, e.g., 0.12, 0.23, 0.85, etc. To overcome this problem, this study uses fuzzy logic to deal with these gradual change values and proposed a fuzzy-inference-based expert system to determine the governance controllability among the organizations in a supply chain. In the proposed fuzzy expert system, the input fuzzy variables are relative profita!
bility and technology complexity. The output fuzzy variable is governance controllability. Nine fuzzy rules are used in the fuzzy expert system. We use Java programming language to establish a computer package for the proposed fuzzy expert system. The Unified Modeling Language (UML) is used as a system analysis and design tool for the proposed system. Three UML diagrams are used in this study including a use case diagram, a class diagram, and a sequence diagram. We also conducted 20 simulation cases to validate the proposed system and discuss the simulation results.

Abstract: Pedagogical strategy (PS) prefigures the most logical and efficiently methodically route, to be covered in approach in chain of teaching and learning situations, aiming to put the student into contact with new studies content and facilitating education and learning for them. Eefficiency physical education class is a primary goal of any teacher, always looking for those ways, means and forms of organization to attract the student, to motivate him, but at the same time and to enhance his performance. Thus, principal purpose of this work is that to present the results obtained using pedagogical strategies and grow efficiency lesson of physical education with motor abilities themes by selecting and applying those strategies which provide a good yield and establish incentives assessment ways for students. In planning thematic cycles and selection of pedagogical strategies for motor abilities development, we took into account their age and developmental level. This pa!
per describes the application of pedagogical strategies in educational process of teaching physical education (PE), and stresses the importance of diversification of pedagogical strategies in improving the lessons and attracting students to make exercise and achieving performance. Applying PS within PE classes led to the achievement of operational and content objectives assumed by curriculum of the discipline to a higher level within experimental group which obtain better results as witness group. The paper addresses in general physical education teachers, and students who choose this profession.

Abstract: Evolution of human society as a whole determined the development of educational system. Evolution of our country in all sectors led by assimilating new learning systems existing in the world which responding better to students needs who will work in different areas. Abstract: With the convergence of the Internet and the Global Positioning System (GPS), a common approach called GPS tracking system has been developed nowadays. A GPS tracking system uses GPS to determine the precise location of a vehicle, person, or other assets and shares information with remote clients through the Internet. In the outdoors, the device usually connects to the Internet through mobile networks like GPRS or 3G. However, the weaknesses of a mobile network are low bandwidth and high charging strategies compared to Ethernet or Wi-Fi. In this paper, a demand-driven architecture for web-based tracking systems is presented. By integrating several technologies nowadays, this architecture is designed to improve the efficiency for the location-aware applications. The proposed architecture focuses on two problems. One is the redundant connection, causing the waste of bandwidth and fees during the connection period in the mobile network. The other is the data asynchron!
ization during the period of transmission. We not only addressed the connection scheme to solve above issues, but also designed a prototype on an embedded platform for web-based tracking systems. The performance has also been evaluated for the total latency time when a user exploits different communication medium, and the results showed that the user can monitor the status of target in real time even in the worst case.

Abstract: In interactive networked collaborative virtual environment (NCVE), users work in a group to involve in activities such as game, discussion and learning. However, their existence is not visibly presence. Therefore, there is a crucial need to represent the invisible users so that users know with whom they are interacting with, when to communicate and what to do during the collaboration. Most NCVE systems support non-verbal communication cue only to a limited degree causing unnatural communication and degrading communication quality. This leads to miss communication and miss interpretation of information during the collaboration. Research works on identifying this situation have been performed by many researchers that lead to the issues of awareness. There is a lack of research that focusing on the use of effective digital elements in networked collaborative virtual environment. In this research, we investigate what are the digital elements used and how they present i!
nvisible users. In this way, the appropriate digital elements can be used to model the invisible users in terms of their presence, states and roles. Thus, conflicts in communication between users can be avoided and the digital elements can provide the mean of knowing the participants in the virtual space.Then, our research further explore various roles played by users and access right granted to each role, specifically in e-learning, project management and game. A clear role and well defined job function can strictly outline users' access right for ensuring smooth communication and secure protection as well as privacy of users.

Abstract: Nowadays, there are a lot of communication media available for sharing information. The use of online media is among the common activities within the society of digital era especially for young adults. The Internet allows information to be shared freely, easily and fast through social media. Several studies show that information can be a weapon to influence people. The misuse of communication media may lead to threat. It is therefore important to understand the factors that affect people in selecting media and trusting their sources. In this paper, we present an exploratory study to investigate the patterns of media preferences and beliefs based on the young adults' lifestyles focusing on parents' education level, standard of living and their access to the internet. Participants comprise of ninety eight local young adults who use communication media regularly. Data were analyzed using multidimensional proximity scaling and multiple response techniques. The results !
show that media preferences are affected by their lifestyles while belief towards the communication media are not related to their lifestyles.

Abstract: In this paper, a vision-based FPGA-based hand gesture interface and control system is presented with aim to control the hardware devices in real time more naturally. The system is implemented on the Altera FPGA board that consists of the image pre-processing and features extraction states to detect and track user's hand effectively. Bounding box and Centre-Of-Mass based computation are used in the system for gesture sign classification. The main modules in the image processing exploit the parallelism architecture of the FPGA to achieve fast hand gesture recognition to provide several essential features: (1) Hand detecting and tracking, (2) Gesture classification (3) Real time processing and (4) Controlling the hardware device. The result of this work can be used as a proof of concept for other real time hand gesture interface system for controlling home appliances such as TV, lamp, audio system, air-conditioner etc.

Abstract: In role-based management systems, tasks are distributed to roles instead of users directly. Users playing the roles are responsible to carry out the tasks. Since roles are the central of management, the way roles are structured consistently influences team members. It could affect their motivation level, job satisfaction, peace of mind and security to resources or belongings. Thus, roles play by team members must be clearly defined and set in order to enhance communication, coordination and cooperation which lead to the achievement of shared goals in the virtual space. Therefore, this paper studies roles in five organizational structures within real world organizations. In addition, investigation of roles in various applications within virtual world is also carried out. The main focus of the study is to extract the core elements of roles with respect to their involvements and authorities. The findings show that there is no direct correlation between both parameters!

Abstract: Sensor simulation is an important aspect in many envisaged simulation scenarios dealing with robotics. This contribution focuses on a novel sensor simulation approach of optical sensors supported by the renderer. The term 'Virtual Testbeds' has been coined for these close-to-reality simulations containing considering complete mission scenarios as a whole instead of focusing on a variety of details. A novel approach for sensor simulation is introduced, which is based on a modular framework architecture that supports the integration of real and virtual sensors, as well as different kinds of error models. Combining simulation data and techniques with those originally developed for 3D rendering, synergy effects arise. Improved simulation accuracy is achieved, whilst simultaneously increasing the performance significantly. The practical applicability is demonstrated in different Virtual Testbed scenarios ranging from the simulation of wood harvesting processes in simula!
ted forests up to the virtual prototyping of space exploration robots.

Abstract: In a survey investigation, subjects will normally provide only one answer for each question. However, when they are allowed to provide more than one answer, a specific technique is needed to represent the observed data in a visual form that could be easily seen and viewed in terms of its similarity and dissimilarity among the survey attributes. One of the common techniques used in visualizing the results is by using multidimensional scaling (MDS). MDS is often used to provide a visual representation of the pattern of proximities (i.e., similarities or distances) among a set of objects that allow results to be interpreted according to the survey subjects and attributes. However, too many subjects and attributes will produce massive output points (coordinates). In order to enhance the visualization, a tool called Murvis (Multiple Response Visualization) has been developed using Java programming language to provide users with the flexibiliy in visualizing the MDS ou!
tput coordinates in 2D and 3D space. Murvis allows users to add colors to the graphic visual and present the output in many different and flexible views. With the latter, analysts of multiple response survey are able to illustrate a more informative research findings. A small scale survey involving three data sets are used to test the usability and effectiveness of the tool which has some impending significances.

Abstract: Digital Communication seeks exchanging and sharing digital data unlimitedly. Undoubtedly, digital data becomes crucial in human-human interaction. Digital data can be shared in various of forms, regardless of primitive or composite data. It involves many disciplines such as scientific research, business management, government policies and even personal affairs. Various data types such as video, audio, images, text and numeric are shared among various parties. Such data that ranging from primitive to complex state can be located at many platforms. The platform that interactively correlated can be of homogeneous or heterogeneous types. Upon controlling data sharing, issues such as ownership, data proprietary, policies, disclosure, confidentiality and security should be raised and discussed in details. In this paper, the organization, platform and issues regarding data sharing are reviewed and highlighted to investigate the common factors that constitute to the !
heterogeneous networked environments. Investigation on common factors towards two different perspectives of data sharing, which are data sharing application and data sharing software tools are also conducted. Based on the common factors, future research will include mechanisms to support flexible data sharing in diverse computational platforms.

Abstract: Among the array of innovative Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) that could be deployed in the construction industry, radio frequency identification (RFID) technology stands out as a radical innovation that can overcome materials flows deficiencies. This paper, based on an exploratory field research, analyzes the potential of RFID for the management of materials across four layers of one construction supply chain. Results reveal that the RFID-enabled materials management application would lead to a more efficient communication within and between the four layers of the supply chain, more accurate inventories, a tighter project control, more efficient quality controls, and, overall, a smoother optimization of day-to-day materials management.

Final part of the contribution deals with the tube bundle supplemented by guide blades between individual horizontal tubes. The guide blades prevent to falling film backsplash and improve to form more uniform falling film flow over number of tubes. The experimental stand was used for testing of the horizontal tube bundle with cooper tubes in vertical adjustment. Different tube structures were tested. The heat transfer coefficient was used as major indication of falling film characteristic reflecting qualitative changes in falling film formation.

Abstract: This paper presents the parallel multicore Sobel edge algorithm which parallelizes the traditional sequential Sobel edge detection algorithm on a parallel multicore platform. Dealing with images, the algorithm inherits repetitive instructions that depend on the image size, thus may slow down the processing speed. The multicore architecture is a ready available resource on ordinary personal computer but often not fully utilized to its utmost potential. Align with this hidden opportunity, Sobel edge algorithm can be implemented on parallel programming paradigm by focusing on the thread operations. This work presents the parallel multicore Sobel edge algorithm which parallelizes the traditional sequential Sobel edge detection algorithm on a parallel multicore platform via Parallel communication software named Message Passing Interface (MPI). The test is being done on ten different images with each image tested in the varying size of 1KxK, 2KxK and 3KxK pixels. Variou!
s threads, ranging from two to ten had been performed on Duo and Quad cores. An interesting result shows that in sequential processing Duo core overcome Quad core speed. As for parallel processing, two thread is the best used for Duo core and eight threads is finest for Quad core.

Abstract: This paper copes with a design of a control for a nonlinear servomotor. Rejection disturbance algorithm is incorporated into the controller. A control based on polynomial approach is used as a suitable strategy for a rejection of the measurable disturbance. The regression output error models are used in the identification part. The parameter estimates of the process and disturbance models were computed using the least squares method extended by an adaptive directional forgetting. The controller synthesis is based on polynomial theory – pole assignment method. The designed controller was applied to a laboratory servo system Amira DR300 in real-time conditions.

Abstract: Possible reactions in a mildly reducing prebiotic atmosphere of ammonia and hydrogen cyanide produce cyanamide, its isomer carbodiimide, and formamidine. Alkynes such as diacetylene may form very weak van der Waals complexes with metal derivatives of porphin that acts as a potent photochemical catalyst. The reactants carbodiimide and the diacetylene adduct with magnesium porphin may react spontaneously to form an iminazole structure. Subsequent reaction with ammonia leads to an aziridine derivative. Prototropic shifts lead to an opening of the ring and finally an imine bound to the catalyst. Carbon monoxide gas may also bind to porphin with either the metal ion or in the form of an aziridine-2one complex. If this has been determined by the magnetic field of the exciting ultraviolet radiation to have a particular orientation and is present as a high energy compound, photochemical excitation may easily lead to the migration of the carbon monoxide from the surface o!
f the porphin ring to the imine group of the iminazole adduct. Subsequent hydrolysis gives the L-histidine which forms the zwitterion. The reactions have been shown to be feasible from the overall enthalpy changes in the ZKE approximation at the HF and MP2 /6-31G* level, and with acceptable activation energies.

Abstract: A new approach of characterization of any porous structure is presented in this paper. The method is based on creating digital images of samples employing common computer scanner and consequent image analysis operations of the scans. The procedure was used for pore size estimation of eleven samples of bread baked from dough with different ratios wheat/rye flour, and therefore with different structures of pores. The whole experiment included several steps, starting with baking the samples in accordance with the standard method, consequent drying the samples and scanning their surfaces finely covered by stamp ink. Following operations were conversion of the images to the black and white form and computer analysis on the basis of Euclidean distance map and Voronoi tessellation. The computed pore area sections were compared to a model set of data obtained from generating random cuts of a sphere with chosen diameter. Finally, to make a comparison, the pore volumes were!
calculated employing stereological equations.

For that reason it is important to model these diseases and the troubles that they can cause into the human body, particularly the arteries, in the cardiovascular field. As an effort for achieving the understanding of the phenomena, an electric analogue representation of the arteries and blood flow has been made, where the key part is the characteristic impedance. We present the calculations made for obtaining the characteristic impedances in different cases. The Navier-Stokes in cylindrical coordinates is used with the boundary condition, representing Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids, with a special interest in Atherosclerosis disease. Laplace transform is used as a classical method for solving the differential equation. The power of the computer algebra system is shown through this work.

Abstract: Cardiovascular diseases cause deaths every year. For that reason it is important to model these diseases and the troubles that they can cause into the human body, particularly the arteries, in the cardiovascular field. As an effort for achieving the understanding of the phenomena, an electric analogue representation of the arteries and blood flow has been made, where the key part is the characteristic impedance. We present the calculations made for obtaining the characteristic impedances in different cases. Abstract: This paper presents the parallel multicore Sobel edge algorithm which parallelizes the traditional sequential Sobel edge detection algorithm on a parallel multicore platform. Dealing with images, the algorithm inherits repetitive instructions that depend on the image size, thus may slow down the processing speed. The multicore architecture is a ready available resource on ordinary personal computer but often not fully utilized to its utmost potential. Align with this hidden opportunity, Sobel edge algorithm can be implemented on parallel programming paradigm by focusing on the thread operations. This work presents the parallel multicore Sobel edge algorithm which parallelizes the traditional sequential Sobel edge detection algorithm on a parallel multicore platform via Parallel communication software named Message Passing Interface (MPI). The test is being done on ten different images with each image tested in the varying size of 1KxK, 2KxK and 3KxK pixels. Variou!
s threads, ranging from two to ten had been performed on Duo and Quad cores. An interesting result shows that in sequential processing Duo core overcome Quad core speed. As for parallel processing, two thread is the best used for Duo core and eight threads is finest for Quad core.

Abstract: Power quality issues are one of the most important aspects of future smart grid design and operation. The first reason is the more active consumer participation in the power sector, and the other one is the introduction of renewables, having a great impact on voltage variation because its intermittency. This paper discusses power and especially voltage quality issues in the smart grid environment. New demands that are placed in front of the distribution network by introducing the concept of Smart (Intelligent) network are presented. Abstract: We modify a mathematical model of bone remodeling process to study the effect of time delay observed clinically in the process. We then utilize the Hopf bifurcation theorem to investigate the possibility of the occurrence of periodic behavior exhibited by our model. Abstract: Global collaborative design is a common practice nowadays due to the international nature and business scope of many corporations. Therefore, it is critical to educate future engineers with the knowledge and skills to succeed in the now common multinational settings. This paper describes an international collaborative learning experience among students from different institutions in the Americas through a multinational design project at an undergraduate level. The case study presented here refers to the conceptual design of an automatic machine to sort plastic bottles and aluminum cans to be used in different locations including malls, shopping centers, office buildings, and academic institutions among others. Global collaborative design imposes problems in terms of communication and information management; this project presents from an undergraduate case study, a methodological synthesis from which these problems were satisfactorily resolved, illustrating how a t!

Abstract: Using the rules of music theory, a program was written which automatically creates original compositions. These compositions were parameterized by user input concerning preferences on genre, tempo, and tonality. Based on these preferences, initial compositions were generated, and the "best" composition was presented to the user. Following the rules of music theory guarantees that the program produces harmonious compositions, but certain aspects of musical composition cannot be defined by music theory. It is in these aspects of musical composition where the human mind uses creativity. Using the population of compositions initially generated for the user, the program then used a genetic algorithm to evolve compositions that increasingly match the user's preferences, allowing the program to make decisions that cannot be made using music theory alone. The resulting "best" composition of the evolved population was then presented to the user for evaluation. To test the !
effectiveness of this approach, each composition, both initial and final was ranked by subjects on a scale from 1 to 10. Subjects expressed a significant preference for the evolved compositions over initial compositions.

Abstract: In this paper the stage-structured population model with nonlinear cannibalism terms is studied. Our approach utilizes a certain type of fuzzy systems that are based on Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy models to approximate nonlinear systems. We construct a fuzzy feedback control that permits to stabilize the system around the nontrivial equilibrium. The effort is used as a control term, the age classes as a states and the quantity of captured fish per unit of effort as a measured output. In order to stabilize the stock states around the references equilibrium, this means biologically the sustainability of the fish stock, the output feedback controller based on the T-S state observer is adopted, rather than the state feedback. We formulate an observer and a controller to stabilize globally exponentially the closed loop Takagi Sugeno (T-S) model. The continuous non-linear model is first represented by a T-S model. Next, we develop a technique for designing a dynamic output fee!
dback control law which globally stabilizes this fuzzy system model. All the procedures are based on the linear matrix inequality approach. The effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed method are demonstrated with a practical example. It is shown by numerical simulations that the control law investigated permits the stability of the system around the positive equilibrium point.

Abstract: The present paper focuses over a large scale context (unit) excavated recently at the proto-historical site at Bâzdâna "La Cetate", Dolj County, Romania. This context presents it self in an inextricable connection with the erection of the burnt brick wall which fortified the western part of the site, and was covered and "sealed" by the defensive structure. After the short description of the archaeological situation, characterized by a high stratigraphic clarity, and of the typological representative artifacts, follows an analysis referring to the human and zooarchaeological remains which were comprised in the unit at the foot of the brick wall. Dated towards the end of the 4th c. BC, the context constituted in a very short span of time (at most a few days) offers an excellent opportunity to refine the ceramics typology of that period. At the same time, the artifact and osteologic remains analysis contribute to outline of an enlightening image concerning the mentali!
ties and behaviour of a revolute community. The conclusion must be that we are dealing with a foundation and consecration ceremony of the burnt brick fortification.

Abstract: Nature offers a great source of inspiration to create robust systems that can assist humans to achieve different tasks. Neuromorphic engineering is an emerging field and when it comes to create a device that could assist a blind or a visually impaired human and also replace the traditional tools like white canes or guiding dogs, this can be really challenging. Even if insects are considered inferior species in comparation with vertebrates, they poses a visual system that colud be used in such an applications. An important condition for a person to move freely in an enviroment is to be able to detect any obstacle which may interfere with the trajectory of motion in order to avoid a possible collision with that obstacle. This article presents a possible implementation of a collision avoidance system inspired from the insects visual system with some specific modifications, in order to be useful for human applications in an real enviroment.

Abstract: This article exposes a specific localization algorithm for Wireless Multimedia Sensor Networks. Its hybrid structure is designed for 3-dimensional positioning of the multimedia sensor nodes using in-situ measurements and minimizes the error of localization by proposing an efficient trajectory estimation pattern along with a periodic calibration of the sensor nodes' coordinates. A periodic validation of the coordinates is performed by implementing a classical anchor-based localization algorithm. Providing a decreased error of localization, the suggested algorithm considerably reduces the localization delay, essential to mobile nodes, and offers an insignificant rise in network traffic as well as energy consumption throughout the positioning process. To further reduce the overall energy consumption, an adaptive sampling rate technique is proposed.

Abstract: Sterilization of mushroom growing substrates is energy intensive process for mushroom cultivation. Fuelwood may be replaced by spent substrates for hot steam generation. However, combustion of spent substrates directly in an open furnace is troublesome due to low efficiency and excessive smoke emission. Alternative conversion of the by-product to provide clean energy should be studied. In this work, recycling of spent mushroom substrates through gasification to provide heat for sterilization of substrate bags has been investigated. The findings showed that spent substrate was successfully used as biorenewable fuel in a gasifier. Satisfactory operation was obtained. Gasification of spent substrate could provide required thermal input, with clean energy to the local mushroom farm. Thermal efficiency of about 20% was achieved, compared to 5% from existing furnace. Preliminary economic analysis showed that the farm can save around $300 a month, with simple payback peri!
od to positive cash flow of less than 12 months.

Abstract: This paper presents the stability analysis via quadratic function of synchronous machine without damper. First, The non linear mathematical model for the proposed synchronous machine adopted in this work is described by T-S continuous fuzzy models. Next, the stability conditions are derived using Lyapunov functional approach. Then a stabilization approach for a system through control law for T-S fuzzy control based on PDC design is studied. The asymptotic and exponential stabilization are considered with the maximization of the convergence rate. The stability conditions of the closed loop multiple models are expressed in linear matrix inequalities (LMI) form. To optimize the degree of stability, a formulation in term of generalized eigenvalues problem (GEVP) is proposed. Simulation results show the utility of the stability analysis based on LMIs proposed in this paper.

Abstract: This paper addresses the design, prototyping and experimental validation of two different types of wheeled mobile machine, employed as service robots to assist the human. The focus is on the explanation of modeling and design procedure as well as the optimization of robot positioning during the motion along some given and unseen trajectories. Using the coordination defined for mobile robots, the equations of motion are firstly derived and then the simulation study is carried out. Using the simulation results, the robots are prototyped. Next, to overcome the positioning errors, the mobile robots are tested and moved along some given paths. The position error consists of systematic and non-systematic errors. As pointed out, the systematic errors are modified and reduced using benchmark method where the absolute measurements of errors are compared with the desired posture of robots. Specifically, the results derived from experimental analyses concede that in the mean !
error improvement was at least 83% in both CW and CCW directions. The procedure explained in this paper should therefore be considered seriously as a new tool to design the wheeled mobile robots.

Abstract: Problems related to noise pollution assume great importance today in assessing the quality of life, especially in urban areas. The recognition of road traffic noise as one of the main sources of environmental pollution has led to develop models that enable us to predict noise level from fundamental variables. Traffic noise prediction models are required as aids in the design of roads and sometimes in the assessment of existing, or envisaged changes in, traffic noise conditions. Road traffic is a complex system in which wide varieties of road user, vehicle and environment interact. In the present paper a noise prediction model for urban and suburban areas is introduced. The prediction model has been developed on a testing network in the province of Cosenza. A model, based on measurements of sound levels, specific urban context, traffic flow characteristics, road network characteristics, has been defined and calibrated.

Abstract: Problems related to noise pollution assume great importance today in assessing the quality of life, especially in urban areas. The recognition of road traffic noise as one of the main sources of environmental pollution has led to develop models that enable us to predict noise level from fundamental variables. Traffic noise prediction models are required as aids in the design of roads and sometimes in the assessment of existing, or envisaged changes in, traffic noise conditions. Road traffic is a complex system in which wide varieties of road user, vehicle and environment interact. In the present paper a noise prediction model for urban and suburban areas is introduced. The prediction model has been developed on a testing network in the province of Cosenza. A model, based on measurements of sound levels, specific urban context, traffic flow characteristics, road network characteristics, has been defined and calibrated.

In order to modeling traffic noise and selecting corresponding noise control measures it is necessary to know functional relationships between noise emission and certain numbers of traffic parameters. The purpose of this article is to study the situation in Cosenza (Italy) and develop a model to predict the noise based on the data collected. The result of this research will contribute to the analyze the traffic noise in urban center as well to develop a tool to help on treatments of this urban issue, allowing future decisions to reduce the noise pollution.

Abstract: The use of barcode has become a key primary technological strategy for improving healthcare service quality in general and point-of-care patient safety in particular. But will RFID eventually replace the widely adopted barcode technology for decreasing adverse medication events? This paper explores four different adoption paths for improving the medication process of an emergency department, namely full barcode implementation, full RFID implementation, migration and hybridization. Since medication errors are considered the most frequent type of adverse events occurring in hospitals, it appears rather crucial to gain a better understanding of the relative advantages and drawbacks related to each of these four adoption paths.

Abstract: The lines adequacy of the network is necessary to provide load demands when the network is expanding, because its lack caused by load interruption. In this paper, in order to take the transmission lines condition after expansion into account from the line loading view points, the adequacy of the transmission network is considered for the solution of the STNEP problem. To obtain the optimal network arrangement, a discrete particle swarm optimization (DPSO) algorithm is being used for minimizing the network construction and operational cost. The particle swarm optimization is a recently developed evolutionary algorithm based on the swarm behavior in the nature and has a strong ability to find the most optimistic results. The motivation for using the DPSO technique is to reduce design effort and find an optimum planning network. The effectiveness of the proposed idea is tested on the Garver's six-bus network and an actual transmission network of the Azerbaijan regiona!
l electric company in Iran. The evaluation results evaluation reveals that the annual worth of the network adequacy has a considerable effect on the network arrangement. In addition, the obtained network, based on the DPSO algorithm, has lower investment cost and higher adequacy rate.

Abstract: In this paper, three types of defected ground structure (DGS) units which are triangular-head (TH), rectangular-head (RH) and U-shape (US) are investigated and their characteristics are compared each other. Moreover, they are used in the design of low-pass filters (LPF) and band-pass filters (BPF) and the obtained performances of each are examined. The LPF employing RS-DGS geometry presents the advantages of compact size, low-insertion loss and wide stopband compared to the other filters. It provides cutoff frequency of 2.5 GHz, largest rejection band width of 20 dB from 2.98 to 8.76 GHz, the smallest transition region and the smallest sharpness of the cutoff frequency. The BPF based on RS-DGS has the highest bandwidth (BW) of about 0.74 GHz and the lowest center frequency of 3.24 GHz whereas the other BPFs have BW less than 0.7 GHz.

It is found that SVR with trial-and-error method performed the best with MAPE=4.466% and R2=0.8540. In addition, Rediscount rate, Money supply, and Price of last month are the three common variables for both BPNN and SVR. The economic explanation and relations to the housing price for selected variables are also provided.

Abstract: This work defines a novel problem in which a set of modules is assigned to a set of silicon layers in order to minimize the total chip area while satisfying the characteristic constraints. An integer linear programming (ILP)-based partitioning approach is also developed to assign a set of modules to the layers of a three-dimensional architecture during a floor-planning phase. The proposed approach attempts to minimize the chip area, which is the maximum silicon layer area among the set of layers in a three-dimensional system-in-package (SIP) architecture. Moreover, the circuit properties in which the digital and analog modules not to assign to the same layer are incorporated to increase signal integrity during the partitioning stage. The optimal module assignment for the three-dimensional SIP architecture could be obtained because all the constraints in this work are linear functions. Experimental results indicate that the proposed ILP-based method can minimize the!
chip area while meeting the SIP constraints of circuit properties to reduce the potential interference of the wires in the digital and analog modules. The chip area is larger than that of the method that does not consider interference properties of modules. Importantly, the proposed ILP-based approach significantly reduces the number of the potential interference to be zero by assigning analog and digital modules to the different layers of the SIP architecture.

Abstract: Complexity of medical imagery is found as challenging problem in segmentation. This paper conducts a comparative study of Adaptive Network-Based Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS), k-Nearest Neighbors (k-NN) and Fuzzy c-Means (FCM) for brain abnormalities segmentation. The characteristics for each brain component of "membrane", "ventricles", "light abnormality" and "dark abnormality" is analyzed by extracting the minimum, maximum and mean grey level pixel values. The segmentation performances of each technique is tested to hundred and fifty controlled testing data which designed by cutting various shapes and size of various abnormalities and pasting it onto normal brain tissues. The tissues are divided into three categories of "low", "medium" and "high" based on the grey level pixel value intensities. The segmentation of light abnormalities outperformed the dark abnormalities. It was proven that the ANFIS returns the best segmentation performances in light abnormalitie!

Abstract: Nowadays blogs are widely used by internet users to circulate thoughts and information concurrently. Information collection from the blogs is still one of the important and complicated problems. Mainly the blogs assist the variety of interesting information. Tags play a vital role in annotating and organizing the blogs in a web. Blog contents are associated with a set of predefined topic ontology keywords. This paper proposes categorization of blogs to facilitate easy identification of user expected topic from the massive collection of blogs. Tags, page contents are collected as inputs from the blogs and the blogs are categorized using Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithm. Most frequent occurrences of topic ontological keywords are used to train the classifier. This approach describes the empirical evaluation of blog categorization using SVM. The performance is evaluated for precision and recall for blog categorization using SVM with Naïve Bayes algorithm. It is !
proved that SVM improves the classification accuracy than Naïve Bayes algorithm. The experiments showed that tags and contents are very efficient for the blog categorization.

Abstract: Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSM) have wide applications in industry, especially in AC servo drives. Digital Signal Processors (DSP) has greatly enhanced the potential of PMSM servo drive in such applications. Most of controller drives the PMSM by using the field-orientation control mode. This method laid the motor at maximum theoretical performance. This paper presents the field oriented vector control scheme for permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drives, where current controller followed by hysteresis comparator is used. The field oriented vector control, that regulates the speed of the PMSM, is provided by a quadrature axis current command developed by the speed controller. The simulation includes all realistic components of the system. This enables the calculation of currents and voltages in different parts of the voltage source inverter (VSI) and motor under transient and steady state conditions. Implementation has been done in MATLAB/Simulink!
. A study of hysteresis control scheme associated with current controllers has been made. Experimental results of the PMSM control using TMS320F24X DSP board are presented. The speed of the PMSM is successfully controlled in the constant torque region. Experimental results show that the PMSM exhibits improved speed stability especially in very low speed range. The validity and usefulness of the proposed control scheme are verified through simulation and experimental results.

Abstract: This paper present a combination of classification theory with risk estimation theory to determine the best assets through those that we analyzed. We present also building to the efficient frontier for a portfolio with 2 or 3 assets We use a data analysis method to obtain two classes of assets and then we estimate the risk of each asset corresponding to each class. Thus, we get the best two assets among those considered risky for which we build the efficient frontier if we consider that the portfolio consists of these two risky assets and a risk-free asset. To illustrate the effectiveness of the method used, we present a case study that refers to the Bucharest Stock Exchange. We construct the efficient frontier, based on the correlation of the best stocks that we have obtained through data analysis (for classification), and by assessing the loss distribution (for risk assessment), taking into account that the portfolio contains an asset without risk.

Abstract: The paper present the results of a study for a special configuration of a combined cycle power plant. In this plant two gas turbines are installed to feed one Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG). The flue gas flow in the channels between the two gas turbines and the HRSG was analyzed to get a more homogenous flow distribution in front of the first heating surface of the HRSG which is arranged downstream of the gas turbines. In the study a particular attention was placed at the operation conditions where only one gas turbine is in operation. The results of the investigation have shown that the measures with a higher possibility to get a homogenous flow distribution in front of the first tube bank arranged downstream of the gas turbine have also a higher pressure loss and in last consequence they are linked with a higher loss of gas turbine power respectively a lower efficiency of the combined cycle. The study has also shown that a larger merging area for the flue g!
as arranged between the merging point of the two flue gas ducts and the entrance into the HRSG results in a more even flow distribution.

Abstract: In multi-treatment regression analysis, instead of a sample for each treatment of a linear model, there is a linear regression in the same variables. Then, instead of the influence of the treatments on the sample mean values, the influence on regression coefficients is studied. ANOVA algorithms and multiple comparison methods are adapted to perform the comparison between the coefficients of different regressions. When data is unbalanced, the regression matrices differs between regressions. This problem is solved through the use of a block-wise diagonal covariance matrix in the ANOVA procedures. The method was applied to data from several experiments of electrodialytic removal of 3 heavy metals from contaminated waste materials. The different experimental conditions were considered as different treatments of a one-way layout. A polynomial regression was fitted to each metal concentration in the electrolytes through time. Aiming to choose the best treatment in jointl!
y removing the 3 metals, the experiments were analyzed under the unbalanced case of multi-treatment regression analysis. Results point to the choice of treatment 1.

Abstract: In this paper, we present some studies about relations existing between well known Chomsky string grammars and graph grammars, in particularly hypergraph grammars. We are discussing about deterministic context free Lindenmayer Systems used to describe commands to a device that generates black and white digital images. Instead of well-known methods of drawing, we will paint squares, not lines. After that, we give some important properties of growth functions of D0L-systems. In addition, we turn the discussion to gray scale or color digital image generation. The second main part of the paper is about normal forms of hyperedge replacement grammars. In context freeness of these grammars, we can transform each of it into an equivalent grammar without λ-productions and without rewritings. After that, in a nondeterministic way, we will create equivalent grammars in Chomsky Normal Form or Greibach Normal Form. Both normal forms are inspired by string grammars. In the !
third part of this paper we illustrate some important differences between graph grammars and hypergraph grammars in context of freeness. On the other hand, we give a possibility to transform the planar structure of a hypergraph into a linear one with concern of determinism. This can create a path to transform a pushdown automaton into a generative grammar equivalent.

Abstract: Flow simulations around a generic pickup truck are carried out using a finite volume based CFD code. Simulated velocity and surface pressure distributions are compared with the corresponding experimental data obtained by using PIV. Both simulated and experimental results indicate that the wake of the truck is unsteady and contains two regions, one comprised of a large vortex rotating about a horizontal axis above the truck bed, and the other comprised of two symmetric vortex streaks behind the tailgate. The comparisons between time-averaged measurements and computations revealed that the CFD calculations were able to track the flow trends very well; however, the ability of the code to accurately predict the absolute values was limited.

Abstract: The paper presents the results of the investigations into the indoor climate in classrooms with different ventilation systems. Carbon dioxide is one of the best indicators of air quality in buildings. Therefore the current study is mostly concentrated on the investigation into CO2 levels in classrooms. There is a certain correlation between the air change rate and the changes of carbon dioxide concentration in rooms. The results of the study show the measured values of the CO2 level and indoor air quality in classrooms with different ventilation systems. A new solution of mechanical ventilation is the arrangement of air change in classrooms with mini air handling units (AHU) with heat recovery. The new arrangement might become as revolutionary technology when considering retrofitting smaller schools.

Detailed transient flow fields in and around the droplet are calculated by performing parallel computations, and the flow phenomena in a thin layer around the droplet surface are discussed. The recirculation flow region is found to be formed at the top and bottom stagnation points on the droplet surface. It is also found that the oscillating flow with a phase shift appears in the thin layer along the droplet surface.

Abstract: For over two decades, the power plant monitoring done through Laguna Verde Nuclear Power Plant Process Information Integral System has led to increased availability, efficiency, and productivity in electrical power generation while maintaining a high safety index in the Power Plant's operation. However, technology has evolved and the pursuit of faster, smaller, and cheaper components has caused hardware systems to become gradually obsolete. At Laguna Verde, the hardware systems have not been exempt from this, and the quest for viable replacements has become apparent. This article focuses on the acquired experience when using a virtual computer emulator as a replacement for the system processor of the Plant Monitoring System in the Operator Training Simulator, and its potential to replace the system processor at the Power Plant itself.

This performance improvement constitutes the focal point of our researches. In this paper, we propose some techniques, which are able to carry out this task as well as a comparison among them. We are aimed at finding methods, which are applicable in different scenarios, consequently we propose methods which perform best under different circumstances.

Abstract: In multi-treatment regression analysis, instead of a sample for each treatment of a linear model, there is a linear regression in the same variables. Then, instead of the influence of the treatments on the sample mean values, the influence on regression coefficients is studied. ANOVA algorithms and multiple comparison methods are adapted to perform the comparison between the coefficients of different regressions. When data is unbalanced, the regression matrices differs between regressions. This problem is solved through the use of a block-wise diagonal covariance matrix in the ANOVA procedures. The method was applied to data from several experiments of electrodialytic removal of 3 heavy metals from contaminated waste materials. The different experimental conditions were considered as different treatments of a one-way layout. A polynomial regression was fitted to each metal concentration in the electrolytes through time. Abstract: Image segmentation and its performance evaluation are vital aspects in computer vision although they are challenging to resolve. Segmentation of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) brain images is essential to facilitate the neurological diseases diagnosis. Nevertheless, evaluation of segmentation accuracy has been fundamentally subjective that leads to difficulties in judging the effectiveness of the techniques implemented. This paper proposes an implementation of evaluation method known as image mosaicing in evaluating the MRI brain abnormalities segmentation study. Fifty seven mosaic images are formed by cutting various shapes and sizes of abnormalities, and pasting it onto normal brain tissues. The knowledge of pixel sizes of abnormalities is used as the ground truth to compare with various segmentation results. Three methods of Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Adaptive Network-based Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) and Fuzzy c-Means (FCM) are used to segment the !
mosaic images formed. The accuracies of image mosaicing segmentation are assessed using statistical analysis methods of Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) analysis. The statistical results obtained exhibit some variations that reflect the methods implemented. Thus, the proposed implementation of image mosaicing method is found to be acceptable as it produces potential solutions to the current difficulties of brain abnormalities segmentation performances evaluation.
