Abstract: Abstract: - The presence of arsenic in water and wastewater has been of great public concern. The occurrence of geogenic arsenic in drinking water supplies has been reported from different parts of the world and is widely distributed in nature. Problems are more serious in West Bengal (India) and Bangladesh due to its high toxicity and carcinogenic effect. To supply drinking water free from arsenic, various treatment technologies and options for arsenic removal are available to bring down the level of arsenic close to zero level. Before deciding the technology for arsenic removal below the permissible limit prescribed by various standards, the chemistry of the arsenic water should be studied and the treatment should be eco-friendly, simple and cost effective to suit for rural area people using ground water as a main sources. The treatment should be versatile considering present pollutants in the water. This paper presents the review on removal of As (III) using ads!
orption process based on wide array of low cost and specialized adsorbent only with various options to supply safe drinking water to the people.
