Abstract: One of the important research topics of bioinformatics is the Multiple proteins sequence alignment. Since the exact methods for MSA have exponential time complexity, the heuristic approaches and the progressive alignment are the most commonly used in multiple sequences alignments. In this paper, we propose a modified progressive alignment strategy. Choosing and merging the most closely sequences is one of the important steps of the progressive alignment strategy. This depends on the similarity between the sequences. To measure that similarity we need to define a distance. In this paper, we construct a distance matrix. The elements of a row of this matrix correspond to the distance between a sequence to other sequences. A guide tree is built using the distance matrix. For each sequence we define a descriptor which is called also feature vector. The elements of the distance matrix are calculated based on the distance between the descriptors of the sequences. The d!
escriptor reduces the dimension of the sequence then yields to a faster calculation of distance matrix and also to obtain preliminary distance matrix without pairwise alignment in the first step. Abstract: The capacitance bank is generally used for compensation in a distributed power grid, if the latter is connected to the utility. An islanded power grid is a distribution grid disconnected from the utility. It can undergo a disturbance namely the ferroresonance phenomenon if the capacitance bank has a non adequate value. In this paper, a study of an islanded power grid is attempted to show the effect of the reconfiguration of the capacitance bank on the ferroresonance. A simulation of the circuit is conducted using Simulink/ MATLAB. In another part of this work, an example of overvoltage study in a distribution medium network using ATP is also presented.

Abstract: The biggest information system follows World Wide Web indexing that is critical to estimate. Web is beneficial and growing scientific utility like digital library to explore electronic literature to its lovers. Indexing estimation of WWW information is an open problem since 1998. Yahoo has claimed 19 billion web documents as its indexed size on which Google is not satisfied because in accordance with last published study by Gulli and Signorini the total indexed web size was around 11.5 billion pages. Web is growing hastily; what is the current size of web? Which search engine possesses large indexing of authentic information (PDF files)? Which search engine provides large indexing of all types of Web pages? This short article provides the answers of all above questions. We estimated the index size of leading search engines (Google, Yahoo and MSN) under easy and cost effective approach because if easy way persists then why we select tough heuristics. Our technique !
relies on querying over the search engines with selected common affixes that can be a part of each and every document or web page. This short paper concludes the total size of present indexed web contents and provides comparative analysis to support scholars which search engine has more authentic information and large indexing size.

Abstract: The aim of this paper is to design "a neural network based intelligent model reference adaptive controller". In this scheme, the intelligent supervisory loop is incorporated into the conventional model reference adaptive controller framework by utilizing an online growing multilayer back propagation neural network structure in parallel with it. The idea is to control the plant by conventional model reference adaptive controller with a suitable single reference model, and at the same time respond to plant by online tuning of a multilayer Back Propagation neural controller. The training patterns for the neuron controller are obtained from the conventional PI controller and the effectiveness of the proposed neuron controller is studied using simulation studies. The artificial neural network has the ability to generalize and can interpolate in between the training data. The parallel neural controller is designed in order to precisely track the system output to the desi!
red command trajectory. The proposed neural network based controller can significantly improve system behavior and force the system to follow the reference model and minimize the error between the model and plant output. The effectiveness of the proposal control scheme is demonstrated by simulation. The proposed "neural network based intelligent model reference adaptive controller" designed was tested on two different plants and found to work effectively on driving both of them.

Abstract: In order to study growth and flowering characteristics of Lilium longiflorum by using tow growth regulators, gibberellic acid and 6-benzyladenine, an experiment was performed in 2008 by using factorial experiment arranged in a completely randomized design with three replication in research greenhouse, college of agricultural science, University of Guilan. In this experiment, unit bulbs soaked for 24 hours by gibberellic acid and 6- 6-benzyladenine, each one in three levels 0, 75 and 150 ppm and then they planted in greenhouse. Analysis of variance showed that effect of gibberellic acid (p < 0.01), 6-benzyladenine and their interaction (p < 0.01) on bud number were significant. Gibberellic acid and its interaction with 6-benzyladenine also affect significantly on total chlorophyll, chlorophyll a and vase life of lily. The effect of gibberellic acid and 6-benzyladenine in initial fresh weight was significant in this experiment. The effect of gibberellic acid and inte!
raction effect of these hormones in carotenoid content and also anthocyanin content was significant (p < 0.01) and (p < 0.05) respectively. The simple phenotypic correlation coefficient between lily flower vase life and other traits showed that vase life of lily flowers had the highest significant positive correlation with total anthocyanin content, initial fresh weight, leaf area, total number of flower bud, carotenoid content, bud length and stem height. Total anthocyanin had the highest significant positive correlation with leaf area, vase life, chlorophyll a, total chlorophyll, carotenoid and initial fresh weight. Abstract: Details of parallel-sparse Domain Decomposition (DD) with multi-point constraints (MPC) formulation are explained. Major computational components of the DD formulation are identified. Critical roles of parallel (direct) sparse and iterative solvers with MPC are discussed within the framework of DD formulation. Both symmetrical and unsymmetrical system of simultaneous linear equations (SLE) can be handled by the developed DD formulation. For symmetrical SLE, option for imposing MPC equations is also provided. Large-scale (up to 25 million unknowns involving complex numbers) structural and acoustic Finite Element (FE) analysis are used to evaluate the parallel computational performance of the proposed DD implementation using different parallel computer platforms. Numerical examples show that the authors' MPI/FORTRAN code is significantly faster than the commercial parallel sparse solver. Furthermore, the developed software can also conveniently and efficiently solve!

To determin the most important independent variables that had the highest effects on the dependent variable, we use stepwise regression model. 50.4% of longevity variation was attributed to tow traits, including total anthocyanin content and initial fresh weight. Path analysis showed that total anthocyanin content had the highest direct effect on longevity (p= 0.431). Indirect effect of total anthocyanin content by initial fresh weight was positive. Direct effect of initial fresh weight (p= 0.422) considered as secondary traits in longevity path analysis. Indirect effect of initial fresh weight by total anthocyanin content was positive.

Abstract: The Discrete Tchebichef Transform (DTT) is a linear orthogonal transform which has higher energy compactness property like other orthogonal transform such as Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT). It is recently found applications in image analysis and compression. This paper proposes a new approach of fast zigzag pruning algorithm of 4x4 DTT coefficients. The principal idea of the proposed algorithm is to make use of the distributed arithmetic and symmetry property of 2-D DTT, which combines the similar terms of the pruned output. Normalization of each coefficient is done by merging the multiplication terms with the quantization matrix so as to reduce the computation. Abstract: Numerical computations have found vast applications in numerous areas of science and engineering. Many scientific and engineering advances rely on the capability to build computational models in the form of numerical software systems. A review of the numerical computation literature of the past few decades reveals that research and practice in this area have been largely focused on designing efficient numerical algorithms to carry out numerical computations, but less attention has been paid to the architectural design of large-scale numerical software systems. On the other hand, the field of software engineering has made tremendous advances in the past few decades in various areas of software development including programming languages, development methodologies, and design techniques. Given the current mature status of the algorithmic design aspects of numerical computations, a change in research direction from lower-level algorithm design of numerical computatio!
ns to higher-level architectural design of numerical software systems can yield fruitful results. In line with this objective, this paper aims to address the architectural level issues of numerical systems by taking advantage of the latest advances in software engineering and adapting them for the domain of numerical systems. This paper presents the design of a domain-specific architecture, which can serve as an architectural foundation for developing a large family of numerical software systems. A number of design strategies are presented and the rationale behind each strategy is explained. Using the Java programming language, we demonstrate how each of the strategies can be implemented in an object-oriented language. We further demonstrate that a set of basic design principles underlie a variety of design techniques.

Abstract: The Discrete Tchebichef Transform (DTT) is a linear orthogonal transform which has higher energy compactness property like other orthogonal transform such as Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT). It is recently found applications in image analysis and compression. This paper proposes a new approach of fast zigzag pruning algorithm of 4x4 DTT coefficients. The principal idea of the proposed algorithm is to make use of the distributed arithmetic and symmetry property of 2-D DTT, which combines the similar terms of the pruned output. Normalization of each coefficient is done by merging the multiplication terms with the quantization matrix so as to reduce the computation. Abstract: With the rapid emergence of 3D applications and virtual environments in computer systems; the need for a new type of interaction device arises. This is because the traditional devices such as mouse, keyboard, and joystick become inefficient and cumbersome within these virtual environments. In other words, evolution of user interfaces shapes the change in the Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). Intuitive and naturalness characteristics of "Hand Gestures" in the HCI have been the driving force and motivation to develop an interaction device which can replace current unwieldy tools. A survey on the methods of analyzing, modeling and recognizing hand gestures in the context of the HCI is provided in this paper. Taxonomy of the different algorithms based on the applications that they have been developed for and the approaches that they have used to represent gestures is presented. In addition, direction of future developments is discussed.

In such direction, the new digital technologies allow, from a part, a rationalization and rapidity of the relief operations, from the other they allow to create some new representations wh!
ich can easily fit to the scholars and operators (architects, engineers, restorers, historians, etc) demands, or to be used to produce faithful copies through quick prototype techniques, but also, more simply, to give back enjoyable such information easily by town councils or web users. The developed and described, in this article, experiences have the aim of verify the potentialities of laser scanner in surveying of structures, for whom traditional techniques of relief could result disadvantageous in terms of realization's times, costs and precision. A particular attention has addressed to elaboration phase, data filtering and 3D modeling through the use of specific and opportune algorithms of best-fitting, useful for individualization and extraction of forms.

Abstract: The detection of moving objects from video sequences is very important for object tracking, object focusing, and activity analysis in video surveillance applications. In this, background subtraction plays a vital role in implementing such applications. The objective of the paper is to extract the foreground image by subtracting the background image. Along with the frame differencing method, Automatic Threshold Update (ATU) and Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) are introduced for the background subtraction. In our approach, Automatic Threshold Update (ATU) and Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) and the combination of these two (ATU+ DWT) are included in the frame differencing method. The Gray scale and RGB computations are evaluated with the help of eight methods for dim light and bright light videos. Finally, automatic threshold updation, precision, recall, accuracy and run time for the proposed methods are analyzed for pre-defined indoor videos.

Abstract: Zernike Moments (ZMs) have been most widely used in extracting the region based shape features of an image such as Logo, Trademark, Clip-art etc. Though ZMs are assumed to be the best descriptors, still retrieval of accurate images is an important research area. In most of the researches, emphasis is given only on magnitude of ZMs and phase component is ignored. Complex Zernike Moments (CZMs) take both Phase and Magnitude component for feature extraction. This paper describes the concept of local and global features that are used in Shape Based Image Retrieval. Global features are extracted using ZMs or CZMs. In order to capture local details of an image, variety of options are available i.e. Wavelets, Mean and Standard deviation of Centroid distance, Curvature on edged images etc. The retrieval results of global features are compared with results obtained using combined local and global features. Experiments are performed on shape database of 250 images from dif!
ferent groups taken from MPEG-7 CE-2 database. Recall – Precision and Bulls Eye Performance (BEP) are chosen as measures for retrieval performance. It is observed that a combination of local and global features i.e. Wavelets and Complex Zernike Moments (WCZMs) perform better in terms of Retrieval Accuracy without any overhead of increased feature space. Based on our experiments, WCZMs are recommended for SBIR system to achieve better retrieval accuracy. They are also robust towards blur and noisy images in addition to being rotationally invariant. Other local features like Curvature and Centroid distance with ZMs prove better in terms of retrieval accuracy against ZMs but WCZMs outperform this descriptor also.

Abstract: This paper studies properties of a continuum with structure. The characteristic size of the structure governs the fact that difference relations do not automatically transform into differential ones. It is impossible to consider an infinitesimal volume of a body, to which we could apply the major conservation laws, because the minimal representative volume of the body must contain at least a few elementary microstructures. The corresponding equations of motions are the equations of infinite order, solutions of which include, along with sound waves, the unusual waves propagating with abnormal low velocities, not bounded below. It is shown that in such media weak perturbations can increase or decrease outside the limits. The dispersion of structure sizes plays a double role. The intensity of instabilities decreases due to dispersion, thereby stabilizing the media, while the frequency range of unstable solutions expands, and disasters can occur at very low frequencies!
. The equation of equilibrium is not satisfied at any point in the medium. It is true only at an average. Hence there is a possibility to have a lot of micro-dynamic acts, in spite of static macroscopic state in average. This paper describes some of the conditions under which the possible occurrence of usual wave motion in media in the presence of certain dynamic phenomena. The number of complex roots of the corresponding dispersion equation, which can be interpreted as the number of unstable solutions, depends on the specific surface cracks and is an almost linear dependence on a logarithmic scale, as in the seismological law of Gutenberg-Richter.

Abstract: This paper presents a computer-based simulation of high voltage generation. The simulation is intended to help students to understand high-voltage generation techniques. It includes generation techniques of high voltage DC, AC and impulse. The high direct voltage generators include Villard circuit, Greinacher doubler-circuit, and Greinacher cascade circuit. The alternating voltage generator uses a three-stage generator circuit and the impulse voltages generators include single-stage circuit and Marx circuit. Simulation examples of high voltage generation circuits and their output voltages are presented. The simulation is carried out using Matlab/Simulink software package.

Abstract: Cross-layer design has become an emerging trend in the wireless network for efficient video transmission. In this paper, a cross-layer design approach is proposed for multi-user scenario by using multiple-input multiple- output antennas (MIMO) at the physical layer. The impact of multi-user system on the bit error rate performance is presented in Rayleigh fading channels. The cross-layer adaptation across physical layer, data link layer and application layer works well in multi-user environment. Results reveal that proposed cross-layer design attain 15 % distortion gain.

Abstract: Electrophysical properties of snake venom were experimentally revealed. It was established that at heating up to the temperature of 1200C, crystals of Vipera Lebetina obtusa venom have maximum resistance, and after cooling its property restore. The obtained data can be applied at storage of preparations on the basis of snake venom. Photoconductivity of snake venom's crystals was measured depending on wave length. At the result it was established that crystals of Vipera Lebetina obtusa venom doesn't have photoconductivity. Results of chemical analyses showed, that in structure of venom of Vipera Lebetina obtusa founded out significant concentration of heavy metal, such as Cd, Ni, Zn, Cr, Pb. As a result by cooling of samples up to nitric temperature 77&#1050; it is appears the new narrow maxima at 440 and 470 nm of wavelength which is connected by metals taking place in structure of venom of Vipera lebetina obtusa. As a result of the experimental rese!
arches it is established, that under influence of small doses of &#61543;-radiation at the doses of 2.7, 4.05, 5.4 kGy within 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 hours, toxicity decrease in gradual and it is possible pharmacological activity of snake venom enzymes is decrease.

Abstract: Economic dispatch (ED) is one of the most important optimization problems in a power system. The objective of ED is that the sharing of power demand among the online generators keeping minimum cost of generation as a constraint. The aim of the paper is to operate an electric power system most economically within its security limits. This thesis mainly focuses on minimizing the total fuel cost of all generators of the power system. This paper proposes the following two hybrid algorithms to solve non- convex economic dispatch problem. i) A Hybrid of Neural Network (NN) and Efficient particle swarm optimization (EPSO) is termed as NN-EPSO. ii)A Hybrid of Evolutionary Programming (EP) and Efficient particle swarm optimization (EPSO) is termed as EP-EPSO. In order to exploit the promising solution region, a simple local random search EP procedure is integrated with EPSO to form the proposed hybrid algorithm. The proposed techniques are tested on standard test syste!
ms available in the literature. The performance of proposed EP-EPSO is compared with i) NPSO-LRS, ii)GA-SA , iii)DEC-SQP, iv) ICA-PSO and v)DE/BBO. It is observed that the EP-EPSO has higher convergence rate, advanced quality and better optimal cost when compared to the other techniques. ED problems considered have been solved including transmission losses with and without valve-point loading effects.

Abstract: The present paper refers to District Heating (DH) and District Cooling (DC) technology, approached from a different angle, when bio energy is encouraged to replace energy that originates form fossil resources. The article reflects on the standard features of the district heating and district cooling and on the way the system is going n terms of evolution throughout their subsequent development stages. It is highlighted why this novel approach in offering heat and cold to the inhabitants represents a key infrastructure as a European efficient resource energy system for today and for the future, under the circumstances of controlling the CO2 emission. The paper concludes with conclusions regarding the district heating and district cooling flexible infrastructure that can support a wide rage of renewable energy sources on large scale.

Abstract: The design of an intelligent prosthesis involves a lot of issues that have to be solved for achieving good results. The modeling, implementation and accommodation phases for the active intelligent prosthesis is obviously a complex approach, involving both manufacturers' and patient's high implication. To support this approach we've projected and implemented a package of software solutions and hardware interfaces which eases the case identification and training stage for every patient. The package use requires some phases, described inside the paper, including: an analysis phase of the snag and its neighborhood, picking up all the useful controlling biosignals for the prosthesis and running bioelectrical tests to identify the minimum set of independent biosignals. These phases conclude with the training stage, which is done to verify the patient's ability to use and control all the prosthesis functions. This training involves the patient's awareness in learning how !
to control his own biosignals by means of their visual correlation to the movements of an already attached virtual prosthesis. Based on data offered by the identification and training phases, one can choose a prosthesis solution among those available, best suited to the patient's case and abilities, along with his financial availability, required by one choice or another. Considerable time and money savings can be achieved by using this set of software and hardware solutions, both because of delays and prosthesis mismatching elimination and because of the patient's involvement in picking up of the appropriate solution. The training must be finished before purchasing an intelligent prosthesis, which is costliness. The proposed methodology, the hardware and software package components we made and the tests we have run are detailed inside the paper.

Abstract: The cellular automata model is a very usefull tool for various artificial intelligence applications, especially those with an important statistical behaviour. The cellular automata have proven to be dynamic systems with a very vast phenomenology and in same time a extremely elegant mathematical model that allows the modeling of apparent complex real processes. The paper presents the characteristics and advantages of the cellular automata model and, also, the principles of two applications of an artificial intelligence model, the cellular automata, in the field of renewable energy resources & consumption monitoring, for development purposes of power facilities in an off-grid rural mountain area. This activity implies to wireless monitor a set of energy sensors, which can offer real time information about primary energy potential, generated and consumed power for the case of hydro, wind and solar energy distributed low-power generators. The sensors stations are perio!
dically sending data to a data center, which stores and process it. This communication period, as well as some sensors parameters can be wireless configured from the center. To avoid measurements or configuration data to be corrupted by an intruder, we designed an encryption algorithm based on cellular automata, which comprises a dynamic key encryption generator. The received data is also processed using a cellular automata prediction algorithm, in order to obtain useful data about generated and consumed power trends. The applications with cellular automata can be hardware implemented using hardware devices or circuits which permit such a level of parallelization, like the FPGAs. For research purposes, we evaluated the reliability and performances of these applications and tested a complex implementation using a top level FPGA development board.

The article reveals a methodology used to evaluate the concentration of major pollutant species within an international airport environment, using mathematical analysis, and informs about the validation possibilities of the results and tool by direct measurements. The software tool ISC3View used in this scientific paper has a global acceptance and approval by all the scientific community in the matter of air quality. The software was developed in the United States by the Environmental Agency. In the article, a case study is presented for the International Airport from Timisoara, consisting from different representative episodes of several days in the year 2008 and 2009!

Abstract: The importance of modeling is apparent with its use to predict cost and time requirement especially in completing a system. However, there is no equivalent standard for evaluating the quality of conceptual models. Thomasson has also shows the difficulties in designing the appropriate UML class diagram such as naming the notation element. The UML class diagram designed by students always neglects the quality in modeling such as consistency and accuracy. Our study proposes the use of WordNet in order to achieve the quality in modeling. The use of RiTa.WordNet shows that synonyms extracted can be used to match the UML class name designed by students and this will increase the accuracy of modeling.

Abstract: The satisfaction of customer requirements is critical issue for the computer designers and manufacturers, because computer design is a high risk and value-added technology. When considering green design, designers should incorporate the voices from the customers and because they are the driving force. On the other hand, data mining from large marketing database has been successfully applied in a number of advanced fields. However, little study has been done in the quality function deployment of identifying future customer requirements for computer design and manufacture, using data mining. This study uses data mining cycle in QFD to forecast future customer requirements for green design of life cycle. The use of time series-based data mining cycle to predict the weights is advantageous because it can (1) find the future trend of customer requirements; (2) provide the computer designers and manufacturers with reference points to satisfy customer requirements in adva!
nce. The results of this study can provide an effective procedure of identifying the trends of customer requirements and enhance dynamic forecasting of life cycle under green supply chain in the computer marketplace.

Abstract: Abstract—The main reason of this study was generated by the need to capture data regarding the changes generated by methyl methacrylate to the superficial layer of the acrylic teeth and poly(methyl methacrylate) denture base resin using a non invasive investigation method and time domain OCT C Scan was used for this purpose. 40 samples, with shape and size of a half disc with 6 mm diameter and 3 mm height were randomly assigned in 4 groups: Group 1. Acrylic resin (AR) teeth without treatment (AR control); Group. 2. Acrylic resin (AR) teeth treated with methyl methacrylate (MMA) for 180 seconds; 3. Group 3. Poly(methyl methacrylate) denture base resin without treatment (PMMA control ); Group 4. Polymethyl methacrylate denture base resin (PMMA) samples treated with methyl methacrylate for 180 seconds OCT C Scan Time domain allowed us to capture features of the changes generated by methyl methacrylate to both acrylic resin teeth and poly(methyl methacrylate) denture b!
ase resin superficial layer. Based on the captured data the results obtained in previous studies based on MMA chemical treatment of acrylic teeth and PMMA resin denture base were justified.

Abstract: Generally, kinetic energy in the locomotive braking is converted into heat that is transmitted to the bandage. Because of overloading of the bandaged wheels the phenomena of bandages weakening combined with tread defects appears. This danger exists especially when train brakes on long slopes and with high gradients. The decisive effect on the frictional and wear characteristics of the brake system is exerted by temperature generated at friction.

Abstract: In a power system, any sudden load perturbation causes the deviation of tie-line exchanges and the frequency fluctuations.So, Automatic Generation Control (AGC) is very important for supplying electric power with good quality. The main goal of the AGC is to maintain zero steady state errors for frequency deviation and good tracking load demands in a multi-area power system. In recent years, throughout the world, the electric power industry is moving towards a deregulated framework in which consumers will have an opportunity to make a choice among competing providers of electric energy .The deregulation policy to the power system operation of various problems have been recently refocused on the AGC.This is because the conventional controllers are incapable of obtaining good dynamic response ,then, it comes the need for novel control strategies to maintain the reliability and eliminates the frequency error. An attempt is made in this paper to p!
resent critical literature review and up-to-date on the AGC in a deregulated structure of power systems problems have been highlighted. The deregulated AGC schemes based on various methods, such as linear and nonlinear system simulation modes, classical, optimal control, multi objective control and robust, decentralized and intelligent/soft computing control theorems have been proposed. In this paper by using of obtained results, we make varies comparison between these proposed methods and discuss on the main advantages and disadvantages of these methods.
