Abstract: Some practical approaches have been introduced and applied for control engineering education. Compared with conventional lecturing and laboratory exercising, instructing outcomes can be improved significantly. Two independent sets of experimental instruments from Feedback Instruments Limited are selected to conduct experiments on a basis of the fundamental control theories. Matlab has been used for data analyzing, simulation, plotting and programming. Simulink is also employed to implement numerical simulations for advanced control practices. For practical control problems in real time, such as robotic control and engine control, Labview can be applied considering its advantages of the graphical user interface design and block diagram approach. In particular, its 33-110 servo system has been selected, which consists of three components: mechanical unit, analogue unit and digital unit. The 150 servo system contains a number of major discrete component units. Both sy!
stems can be used to test the fundamental control principles, such as the PID control. Some examples to improve classes at the system and control laboratory are presented, using software or hardware instructing tools such as the Matlab, Simulink and Labview.

Abstract: This paper presents a contribution in the enhancement of Arabic noisy vowels in white and colored noise. An expectation Maximization (EM) Kalman filter is used to iteratively estimate the spectral parameters of the speech and noise parameters. Simulation results show that the application has the best performance evaluated with objective quality scores, in the case of Arabic noisy vowels.

Abstract: Quality function deployment (QFD) is a valuable method that provides a means of translating customer needs into the appropriate technical requirements for each stage of detailed operations in product development and production. During the QFD implement process, the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) has been used to determine the relative importance weights between criteria or the relationship between the row and column variables of each matrix. However, the AHP has the limit with its independence assumptions, which is a special case of the Analytic Network Process (ANP). The ANP is a mu1tiple criteria decision-making (MCDM) method used to derive relative priority from individual judgments, which can deal with all kinds of dependences systematically. Thus, the purpose of this paper is to develop an effective decision-making method based on QFD and ANP approach to help for making better decisions of planning or evaluation problems. Also, an empirical example is presen!
ted to illustrate the application of the proposed method.

Abstract: Survival in a continuously changing market depends on its development and not on diversification of the present supply. In this context, to be entrepreneurial is equivalent with having the capacity to create new products that will motivate consumers. The entrepreneur is defined as "somebody who starts his own business of small dimensions." It is a mistake to assume that the entrepreneurial system and innovation are natural and spontaneous phenomena. The good aspect is that the entrepreneurial system can be learnt. This means that the firm has to be receptive to innovation and perceive the change as an opportunity not as a threat. It is believed that the entrepreneurial system is very risky. The eco-businesses are poorly represented in Romania, in comparison with the average of EU. The increase of weight of eco-industries is among the development objectives in medium and long run. Romania has to implement a plan of 28 actions for promotion of eco-technologies and i!
ncrease their competitiveness. There continue to exist obstacles in the manner of the expansion of eco- market such as the still low-scale production, a reduced range of products, higher prices (up to 150 % more) than for standard products, low level of consumer information and low promotion level. In spite of all these aspects it is a great potential in the medium and long term. An exploratory research was carried out in order to evaluate the state of Romanian ecological producers. The survey had 18 questions. The aim of this exploratory research is to offer information for the set-up of a new eco-business. The Romanian eco-businesses understood the necessity of development and implementation of the latest patterns in order to assure a sustainable development of the business. The entrepreneurs are conscious about the poor state of it in comparison with other European companies.

Abstract: Thermodynamic modelling is a crucial factor in the simulation of the dynamic operation of the reciprocating piston compressors. Their study requires the analytical knowledge of the properties of the refrigerant from the energy and thermodynamics points of view as well as that of the mechanics of fluids. The simple model suggested allows, on the one hand predicting the performances of the compressor and on the other hand, to determine the variables of states of the evolving fluid.

Abstract: The negative impact of waste on the environment is a general awareness leading academic and industrial sectors to look increasingly to the development of biodegradable polymers more environmentally friendly. This study focuses on the polystyrene matrix composites and micro loads of vegetable origin: spruce sawdust and cellulose microcrystal. The latter are obtained by extracting the cellulose from flour spruce. The composite samples were prepared by injection. The particle size analysis made it possible to determine the size of the charges and to highlight the effectiveness of treatment extraction. Analysis of microstructural changes was followed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and morphology by scanning electron microscopy. The mechanical behavior and tensile strength were studied before and after hydrothermal aging.

Abstract: Nonequilibrium statistical mechanics helps to estimate corrections to the entropy and energy of the fluid with heat flux in terms of the nonequilibrium distribution function, f. This leads to the coefficients of wave model of heat: relaxation time, propagation speed and thermal inertia. With these data a quadratic Lagrangian and a variational principle of Hamilton's type follows for the fluid in the field representation of fluid's motion. We analyze canonical conservation laws and show the satisfaction of the second law under the constraint of these conservation laws.

Abstract: Land co-application of biosolids and WTR is a new concept. Therefore, information on the effect of co-application of biosolids and WTR on plant growth and elements uptake are very limited especially in alkaline soils. A glasshouse experiments was established to evaluate the effects of co-application of WTR and biosolids on agronomic performance of wheat crop grown in alkaline soils as well as P and Al plant concentration and uptake, and to improve management of industrial and toxic wastes and provides environmentally sound guidelines for their disposal. The results indicated that increases of 47, 359 and 55 % in total dry matter yield were achieved as a result of applying 40 gkg-1 WTR and 10 gkg-1 biosolids to clay, sandy and calcareous soils respectively. In all studied soils treated with a constant biosolid rate 10 gkg-1, application of 20 gkg-1 WTR significantly increased plant P concentration in the plant materials. Combined analyses of all soils ,all treatme!
nts of biosolid and WTR rates studied indicated clearly significant relationships between ABDTPA P concentration and P uptake (r = 0.81, p < 0.001). Application of WTR combined with biosolid showed significant increases in extractable Al in all the soils studied. However, application rates of WTR and biosolid did not increase extractable Al in amended soils beyond 6.06 mg Al kg-1.

Abstract: The 5th generation is envisaged to be a complete network for wireless mobile internet in which it has the capability to offer services that accommodate the application potential requirements without suffering its quality. The ultimate goal of 5G is to realize a real wireless world, which many obstacles from the earlier generations are no longer becoming an issue. This cannot be achieved with a single network service. We propose the Multi-Bandwidth Data Path design by integrating the current existing and future networks for new network architecture of 5G real wireless world. In this paper, we present our proposed architecture and the results of simulation.

Abstract: Cork closures for fine wine bottles are made from the production of the most sustainable of all agro-industries, the one known for the continuous conservation of cork oak forests in the western mediterranean basin. The current use of this raw material for closing recipients containing products for human consumption had always posed to all the need to assess its quality. There are a number of studies regarding the Lead content of cork which have never been compared even though from their crossing remarkably information arises. Here are shown facts and trends about how small are cork Lead contents. This shows that the hypothesis of poisoning by Lead (Saturnism) trough cork is unlikely to be verified with such low concentrations as the ones already measured, both by others in the past as by our own team voltammetric study of cork, the first of its kind.

Abstract: This study proposes a vehicle detection system for identifying the vehicles by locating their headlights and rear-lights in the nighttime road environment. The proposed system comprises of two stages for detecting the vehicles in front of the camera-assisted car. The first stage is a fast automatic multilevel thresholding, which separates the bright objects from the grabbed nighttime road scene images. This proposed automatic multilevel thresholding approach provide the robustness and adaptability for the system to operate on various illuminated conditions at night. Then the extracted bright objects are processed by the second stage ¡V the proposed knowledge-based connected-component analysis procedure, to identify the vehicles by locating their vehicle lights, and estimate the distance between the camera-assisted car and the detected vehicles. Experimental results demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed approach on vehicle detection at night.

Abstract: In this paper we propose a novel scheme based on a secret sharing to enable Digital Rights Management (DRM) mechanisms in peer to peer (P2P) networks. Our scheme is restricted P2P network and we distinguish into Authenticated Link and Trusted Link to establish P2P environment and the digital content distributed with shared secret group key can be securely protected while only legitimate peers can access the plaintext of digital content. In traditional P2P environment, digital contents are not encrypted among end users. In this study, the content distributed via our proposed scheme is encrypted.

Abstract: Abstract:-Land co-application of biosolids and WTR is a new concept. Therefore, information on the effect of co-application of biosolids and WTR on plant growth and elements uptake are very limited especially in alkaline soils. A glasshouse experiments was established to evaluate the effects of co-application of WTR and biosolids on agronomic performance of wheat crop grown in alkaline soils as well as P plant concentration and uptake, and to improve management of industrial and toxic wastes and provides environmentally sound guidelines for their disposal. The results indicated that increases of 47, 359 and 55 % in total dry matter yield were achieved as a result of applying 40 gkg-1 WTR and 10 gkg-1 biosolids to clay, sandy and calcareous soils respectively. In all studied soils treated with a constant biosolid rate 10 gkg-1, application of 20 gkg-1 WTR significantly increased plant P concentration in the plant materials. Combined analyses of all soils ,all trea!
tments of biosolid and WTR rates studied indicated clearly significant relationships between ABDTPA P concentration and P uptake (r = 0.81, p < 0.001).

Abstract: A new equalization technique for colour images has been introduced in this paper. The method is based on nth root and nth power equalization approach but with optimization of the mean of the image in different colour channels such as RGB and HSI. The performance of the proposed method has been measured by the means of peak signal to noise ratio. The proposed algorithm has been compared with a classical method, histogram equalization and it will be shown that the proposed method increases the PSNR achieved by the histogram equalization.

Abstract: In this work, a high performance face recognition system based on gray level pixel statistic represented by histogram of the face image is introduced. Histogram matching is performed by using the correlation between the histogram of a given face and histograms of the faces in the database. The proposed system gives 100.00% recognition rate on the ORL face database for 240 training faces and 160 test faces. This rate is down to 89% and 93% in the case of conventional eigenfaces and fisherfaces methods respectively. The high correlation between the histograms of the same faces at different resolutions makes the system robust for scale changes.

Abstract: In this work, several data fusion techniques have been employed to improve the performance of the PCA based face recognition system in different colour channels. Median, sum, max, and product rules as well as majority voting technique have been used to improve the recognition performance achieved by using PCA in HSI and YCbCr colour spaces. The system has been tested on well known face databases such as the FERET, Head Pose, Essex University, and Georgia Tech University face databases. Ensemble based approaches improve the performance obtained from different colour channels and the improvement reaches to 9.60% in FERET database.

Abstract: A decision making support can be applied to find the Pareto solutions. Multi-criterion tabu programming is a new paradigm for that task. Similarly to rules applied in the genetic programming, tabu programming solves problems by using a tabu algorithm that modifies some computer programs. We consider the multi-criterion problem of task assignment, where both a workload of a bottleneck computer and the cost of system are minimized; in contrast, a reliability of the distributed system is maximized. Furthermore, there are constraints for the performance of the distributed systems and the probability that all tasks meet their deadlines. What is more, constraints related to memory limits and computer locations are imposed on the feasible task assignment. Finally, results of some numerical experiments have been presented.

Cash amounts and interest rates are usually estimated by using educated guesses based on expected values or other statistical techniques to obtain them. Fuzzy numbers can capture the difficulties in estimating these parameters. In this paper are developed the formulas for the analysis of fuzzy present value, fuzzy equivalent uniform annual value, fuzzy future value, fuzzy benefit-cost ratio, and fuzzy payback period. Then the examined cash flows are expanded to geometric and trigonometric cash flows and using these cash flows fuzzy present value, fuzzy future value, and fuzzy annual value formulas are developed for both discrete compounding and continuous compounding. The fuzzy dynamic programming is applied to the situation where each investment in the set has the following characteristics: the amount to be invested!
has several possible values, and the rate of return varies with the amount invested. Each sum that may be invested represents a distinct level of investment, and the investment therefore has multiple levels. A fuzzy present worth based dynamic programming approach is used. Computer software named FUZDYN is developed for various problems such as alternatives having different lives, different uniform cash flows, and different ranking methods.

Abstract: In an uncertain economic decision environment, an expert's knowledge about discounting cash flows consist of a lot of vagueness instead of randomness. Cash amounts and interest rates are usually estimated by using educated guesses based on expected values or other statistical techniques to obtain them. Fuzzy numbers can capture the difficulties in estimating these parameters. In this paper are developed the formulas for the analysis of fuzzy present value, fuzzy equivalent uniform annual value, fuzzy future value, fuzzy benefit-cost ratio, and fuzzy payback period. Then the examined cash flows are expanded to geometric and trigonometric cash flows and using these cash flows fuzzy present value, fuzzy future value, and fuzzy annual value formulas are developed for both discrete compounding and continuous compounding. The fuzzy dynamic programming is applied to the situation where each investment in the set has the following characteristics: the amount to be invested!

Abstract: The performance of solar collectors of conventional design can be base on absorber shape factor by supposing fully developed turbulent flow. A mathematical model has been developed from the energy balance equations of the solar collector system to predict the value of heat transfer coefficient. The Charters correlation has been modified by adding a constant, K. This value is determined by comparing the theoretical efficiency with the efficiency from the experimental data. Since the heat transfer coefficients are temperature dependent, an initial values of the mean temperatures of the glass cover, the plate and the back plate have been approximated which allowed the heat transfer coefficients to be evaluated as a first guess. Iterative procedures have been developed that enabled the absorber¡¦s mean temperatures of the collector to be calculated. The newly calculated mean temperatures were then compared with the initially guessed temperatures. The iterative procedur!
e was repeated until consecutive mean temperature values differed by less than 0.01„aC. This mathematical model can also be applied to other solar collector with different kind of absorber plate in order to get the value of K.

Abstract: This paper describe new ways of observing effects of content presentation and domain knowledge upon navigation behaviors by designing web (hypertext) presentation format that adheres to content design inspired by discourse and text comprehension literature. More specifically logical connections between web pages at macro level for all web sites were constructed meticulously and kept consistent across all three knowledge domains. Twenty undergraduate Psychology students participated in this preliminary study in investigating domain knowledge and content presentation influence on Hypertext (web) site traversal behavior. Classical data analysis (ANOVA) were used to explore these qualitative phenomena. Contrary to our belief expertise difference were not significant for total number of web pages (nodes) visited or overall time spent on each knowledge domain web sites. However, these differences were significantly strong for super-ordinate nodes, nodes with more sema!

Abstract: The scope of this work is the complete re-organization of production flow according to the Lean Thinking philosophy for the industrial applications. The complete re-organization implementation of material flow management has been performed through the supermarket sizing which replenishment kanban logic has been adopted. To implement this strategy the goal is to achieve "Interdependent connected Processes" adopting the Pull System methodology in the Just in Time production environment. From the narrow sense the JIT manufacturing philosophy is to produce the right quantity at the right time with the right quantity level. In JIT the production is triggered by a kanban signal, which comes from the costumer order or the master production schedule, the signal then flowing backwards. By implementing JIT concepts in manufacturing, many of the practitioners experience advantages such as shorter lead times, fewer inventories, and higher quality. In the case study, developed !
in the Whirlpool Europe Naples factory, we have a first stage that consists of sizing the amount of "Kanban reintegration" codes, and the second stage in which we have simulated with ARENA and verified the progress of production flow in the hypothesized system, that has underlined the improvement of the business performances and great flexibility

Abstract: This paper, describes a voltage- source formulation of the extended finite-difference time-domain algorithm for the purpose of modeling nonlinear microwave devices. Based on this approach, the device-wave interaction is characterized and incorporated into FDTD algorithm. Analysis of nonlinear properties, including harmonic generation and intermodulation, can be accomplished by using a large signal device circuit model. This technique is applied to the analysis of a typical nonlinear microwave amplifier, which includes a threeterminal active MESFET device. Simulation results are in good agreement with MICROWAVE OFFICE results.

Abstract: The class imbalance problem appears when the number of samples belonging to some classes is very small in comparison with the number in the remaining classes of the dataset. This could lead the minority classes to be missed out on the learning process and, consequently, to converge very slowly. In this paper a comparative empirical study of the class imbalance problem in neural networks is presented.

Abstract: Nowadays, the virtualization technologies are more and more often used in many informatics areas. They are applied for better utilization of existing hardware or software resources, servers' consolidation and for security reasons as well. This article shows the possibility of the virtualization technology usage also in the academic environment as a support of laboratory exercises of two academic courses. The case study is based on the idea of virtualization of the physical computer for lower costs and security reasons. The VMware products are used nowadays in our university and the article want to show other, especially free, alternatives to this commercial product like VirtualBox, Microsoft Virtual PC, XEN etc. Described approaches and techniques can be applied to many others similar subjects, not only in these two courses.

Abstract: This paper presents a real case customized flexible furniture production optimization. Such a make-to-order production must be flexible to meet the customer's needs, which are changing frequently. Hence, a frequent review of the production process is needed to ensure near-optimal production schedule to meet the minimal makespan constraint. In such a case we are confronted with a tradeoff between makespan and optimization runtime to ensure efficient real-time scheduling. The genetic algorithm production scheduling optimization is presented to solve a job shop scheduling problem with recirculation. Several initial population generators, selection methods, and crossover and mutation methods are discussed and tested. The visual model of the furniture production process was developed during the research. Such a model is closer to end-user perception and is used to clarify the results of numerical optimization.
