Abstract: Abstract: - The internet is a huge source of documents, containing a massive number of texts in multilingual languages on a wide range of topics. These texts are demonstrating in an electronic documents format hosted on the web. The documents exchanged using special forms in an Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) environment. Using web text mining approaches to mine documents in EDI environment could be new challenging guidelines in web text mining. Applying text-mining approaches to discover knowledge previously unknown patters retrieved from the web documents by using partitioned cluster analysis methods such as k- means methods using Euclidean distance measure algorithm for EDI text document datasets is unique area of research these days. Our experiments utilize the standard K-means algorithm on EDI text documents dataset that most commonly used in electronic interchange and we report some results using text mining clustering application solution called WEKA. This!
study will provide high quality services to any organization that is willing to use the system.

Abstract: The purpose of Landmine detecting robot is to cover maximum possible area and plotting of landmines and the left over area on a visual map with accuracy in millimeters. This paper presents a prototype model of land mine detecting robot that is powerful yet low cost, easy controllable, having the required accuracy and is equipped with visual interface for landmines plotting, PID tuning and cameras alignment. Emphasis is placed on the control of the differential drive robot in auto mode, semi auto mode and the manual mode. The image processing is used to find the accurate position of robot which provides the live reckoning feedback to the dead reckoning servo control of the robot. Balance Beat metal detector is the sensor used to detect landmines. The use of graphical user interface for the remote terminal computer to control the robot provides the user a simple but powerful control. The overall aspiration of system is to provide the user a powerful, cost effective a!

Abstract: In this article, we will describe a method to securely erase sensitive data in fully automated and hidden mode. Compared to other similar technologies, our method has two main advantages. The first one is the ability to run in a fully automated mode, in other words the system is configured once and the computer is protected without requiring any user intervention. The second advantage is the ability to run in a so-called secret mode, in which the system looks like another software, for the main purpose of confusing other users. Our paper will describe the structure and functionality of our system, and some of the most important technologies and algorithms that we have used.

Abstract: Many researchers have commented on the use of technological resources in education, in particular in the robotic field, but consistent data that assess how robots affect motivation and learning in the vocational education programs are missing from the literature. We present an educational experience over one year in a vocational high school class forming electronic technicians. Motivation and pressure are considered two factors impacting vocational high school student learning. The introduction of educational robot project and then of the robot competition showed to be effective in improving learning efficiency in different fields as a consequence of enhancing intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. Results are encouraging, and should affirm the idea that the didactic project "educational robot" is a well facilitated learning environment of different disciplines, where the motivation to learn increases, the achievements of both individual and class are positive.

Abstract: This paper provides an in-depth theoretical and practical presentation of the energy cost variation and it is about the fluido-dynamic lost energy during an hour on a meter of pneumatic network. This study follows two steps. First, we calculate the value matrix of the cost of fluido-dynamic lost energy for two extreme values of the coefficient of proportionality depending on the diameter of the compressed air pipe and also we determine the dependency of the cost of fluido-dynamic lost energy for extreme values of the coefficient of proportionality on the diameter of the network. Then, on the second step of the study, we will present the dependency of the cost of fluido-dynamic lost energy for the extreme values of the coefficient of proportionality on the volumetric flow of compressed air.

Abstract: The aim of this paper is to present some computational aspects in numerical simulation of the human skin tissue. A multi-layered model is considered for the skin tissue with emphasis on the mathematical modelling and numerical models in space 2D and 3D (for axisymmetric fields). A coupled model involves an interdisciplinary study including physiology, biology, neurology, heat transfer, fluid mechanics and computer-aided analysis of the coupled phenomena. We limit our study to some particular cases with emphasis on the numerical simulation of the heat transfer in the skin and its thermomechanical behaviour.

Abstract: Heliodon software has been developed and used as a decision tool of designing with daylight availability by architects and urban designers. The present calculation algorithm of solar radiation of Heliodon is based only on the direct component of the solar radiation corresponding to clear sky days. In order to provide realistic simulations of the energy balance in the cities, the influence of the clouds needs to be taken into consideration. This article is a preliminary work in order to obtain a robust method to correlate the experimental data with the results obtained with the program Heliodon, for the city of Compiègne, France.

Abstract: This paper deals with the wavelet-based performance analysis of the safety barrier for use in a full-scale test. The test involves a vehicle, a Ford Fiesta, which strikes the safety barrier at a prescribed angle and speed. The vehicle speed before the collision was measured. Vehicle accelerations in three directions at the centre of gravity were measured during the collision. The yaw rate was measured with a gyro meter. Using normal speed and high-speed video cameras, the behavior of the safety barrier and the test vehicle during the collision was recorded. Based upon the results obtained, the tested safety barrier, has proved to satisfy the requirements for an impact severity level. By taking into account the Haar wavelets, the property of integral operational matrix is utilized to find an algebraic representation form for calculate of wavelet coefficients of acceleration signals. It is shown that Haar wavelets can construct the acceleration signals well.

Abstract: Simplified statecharts are derived by excluding all redundant constructs of the UML (Unified Modeling Language) metamodel on statecharts. Due to the transformations involved in the simplification algorithm a lot of sparse edges may occur. An edge of a simplified statechart (ssc) is called sparse when it is missing a trigger, guard or action (or any combination of the three). Having many sparse edges in an ssc is not very useful since a state can only be influenced by triggers, guards and actions. A state is only useful if any of the possible values of the variables available in that state differ from the previous and next states in any path containing that state or if the trigger list of a certain path becomes different by accessing that state. In this paper we propose a normal form for simplified statecharts that allows us to reduce sparse edges and unnecessary states. Some statecharts are only seemingly different from others if one analyzes the different paths!
in those statecharts. The UML is designed to allow for this kind of (uncontrollable) flexibility but in mathematical descriptions it has adverse effects. We introduce an equivalence relation on simplified statecharts and derive a normalization procedure which converts a simplified sc to a normalized simplified sc equivalent to the original one. Our formalism allows us to unravel superficial differences between simplified statecharts.

Abstract: The tuberculosis mortality rate has been declining steadily for many years. Despite the availability of chemotherapy, mortality remains high among patients hospitalized for tuberculosis. We performed a study to define the factors associated with mortality following in hospital diagnosis of tuberculosis between January 1998- December 2004 on 100 patients who died in Cluj Napoca Pneumology Hospital and compared the results with a second group with 120 TB patients with favourable evolution. We tried to identify what risk factors are associated with high mortality among tuberculosis patients under treatment. . Also, we evaluated the main causes of death. Gender is not prognostic factor for Tb attributable deaths (OR=1.11 CI 95% 0.52-2.41 p=0.77) Patients over 50 years had a high risk of death (p=0,001). Urban residence was a significant prognostic factor p=0.002 (OR=2.65 CI 95% 1.37-5.17) and retired subjects had a relative risk of death. (Retired: p=0, 01 OR = 1.99!
). TB history family was a significant prognostic element (OR=4.55, p=0.0004), previous history of TB was associated with death. (OR=56.03 and p=0.0000000000001), homeless and insalubrious home were statistically significant prognostic factor. (P=0.00000002), alcohol abuse are factor with an unfavourable influence. Associated co morbidity were not revealed as death factors, but impaired general condition is a risk factor for death (OR= 4, 52). Patients with cavitations have risk of death OR=21, 28, near patients with positive smear (M+) and positive culture (OR=4, 57). Treatment failure as relapse and chronic TB were associated with increase of mortality (OR=56, 03) The identification of potentially reversible factors such as malnutrition, non adherence to treatment, respiratory failure suggests specific interventions that may lead to improvement in patients outcomes, can improve the management of TB cases and avoid increased mortality in such patients.

Abstract: In this paper is presented a novel approach for fulfilling the data security criteria in a Student Lifecycle Management System at the University of Prishtina. The four main criteria of data security such as: privacy, authentication, integrity and non-repudiation are fulfilled through carefully selected security policies. Student data privacy is achieved using the Secure Socket Layer protocol for web communication with web server. Each user, being student, academic or administrative staff is provided with unique user name and initial password in the Student Lifecycle Management System. Data integrity and non-repudiation are fulfilled using digital signatures. The novelty of implemented solution is based on extending the subject name in X.509 digital certificates and using this certificate for securing student grades, which is in full compliance with the Kosovo Law on Information Society. Public Key Infrastructure and X.509 digital certificates have been established !
as the most trustworthy methods for assuring data security criteria in modern software applications. Security policy enforces that digital certificate and its associated private key shall be stored in a smart card. Access to private key stored in a smart card is protected by Personal Identification Number, known only by smart card holder. This implementation was installed at the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering and has successfully passed a six semester testing period and students were, for the first time in the history of the University of Prishtina, able to apply online to take an exam

Abstract: The purpose of this article is to predict the maximum discharge caused by runoff on hillslopes from very small rural basins. It is known that runoff generated by torrential rainfall in very small rural basins is difficult to predict but very important to know because of the damage it causes in isolated households or even villages. This work uses a methodology of determining the surface runoff hydrograph when the storm characteristics are known. The methodology was automated in a Geographic Information System model that can be used in any study if the user can provide the necessary parameters. The model, built by implementing some well known hydrologic methods in GIS, consists of four components that address the following requirements: the runoff depth in mm, the runoff coefficient, the travel/concentration time and the discharge. The discharge calculation is carried out by applying the rational method in each cell of the watershed to determine the specific dischar!
ge for that cell. If data from the meteorological predictions is used as an input, the model can be used as a tool included in a warning system as a method to anticipate flash flood.

Abstract: In this paper, we report on investigation uses a method of calculation the photocurrent delivered by the organic solar cell double-layer MPP/ZnPc applying the equations of continuities and the currents by analogy to the phenomena of loads transport according to the model of an heterojunction n/p. The principal photovoltaic parameters of this structure are calculated by the simulation of equation I(V), under illumination AM1. 5. Insertion of composite layer C60:ZnPc in the interface of MPP and ZnPc makes it possible to improve the performances of the cell by an increase in the photocurrent of the value 2.6 mA/cm 2 to 5.3 mA/cm 2 and the conversion efficiency ç from 0,72% to 1,49%. Abstract: A dynamical study of the flow in an asymmetrically heated vertical plane channel was carried out experimentally and numerically. The experiments are carried out in water for modified Rayleigh numbers (Ra*) in a range corresponding to the boundary layer flow regime. Velocity profiles show the asymmetric and laminar character of the flow. The dynamic structure of the flow is characterized by using a visualization technique based on laser tomography (Particle Tracking Velocimetry) using discrete tracers to observe simultaneously the boundary layer flow and the reverse flow when it appears. The presence of a recirculation zone at the channel outlet near the unheated wall has been highlighted. These results are compared to a numerical simulation of the flow by using the laminar model. This simulation allows finding the patterns of the recirculation zone but with a maximum 6% overestimation of the recirculation length. The investigations focus specifically on the influen!
ce of the aspect ratio (Rf) and the modified Rayleigh number (Ra*) on the structure of the flow.

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of individual differences on learners' performances of three-dimensional animation through game-based instructional design. Participants were 78 college juniors enrolled in a 3D animation course, an 18-week course designed for enhancing students' animation skills. A t-test was conducted to analyze the independent variables by self-regulation, perceived parents' expectancy, perceived teachers' expectancy, and perceived initiative on project performance as the dependent variables. An online questionnaire was conducted at the end of the semester to obtain learners' perceptions of the system. The results showed that (a) students with higher self-regulation and stronger parents' expectancy outperformed the lower-group on project performance, (b) there were no significant differences on learners' acceptance grouped by gender and perceived parents' expectancy, (c) students with stronger teachers' expectancy demonstr!
ated higher acceptance on perceived ease to use, perceived usefulness, and perceived willingness to use, and (d) students with higher perceived initiative showed more positive attitude in willingness to use the system.

Abstract: A new approach to assess roads vulnerability in flood events is here presented. The main results of a case study, the road networks in Tiber floodplain, are also discussed. The new analytical model is based on Multi-Criteria Analysis (MCA) that assigns a vulnerability value to each road element (embankments, viaducts,..) depending on its structural and functional characteristics. Thanks to the specific framework of the model, also vulnerability causes can be easily determined enabling decisions makers to create meaningful future scenarios and to explore different strategies for an efficient vulnerability, and so risk, mitigation. Showing the effects of strategic alternatives in the long-term, this model allows a new wider and sustainable approach in flood risk management. Here the new approach has been used to assess roads vulnerability and risk, and then, to draw out vulnerability and risk maps. These maps are fundamental in emergency planning. The study also show!
s how the model could represents a useful decision support tool enabling decisions makers to determine evacuation possibilities and potential shelters, as shown in the Monterodondo case here presented. Using the maps, points of weakness in the area have been pointed out: these are especially viaducts crossing the river. On the other hand, using the model as a checking tool, different vulnerability mitigation measures have been planned and checked for critical elements, as shown in the example of the SP18a 'Via Traversa del Grillo' viaduct.

Abstract: Electric heating has become in recent years the first choice for both industrial and household applications, since reduction of carbon dioxide emissions represents a major concern, and has caused replacement of solutions based on burning of gas or oil. Considering the importance of low energy consumption and increased functional safety, significant efforts have been made for design optimization. Microstructural analysis has determined that most of failures reported during exploitation and maintenance of electric heaters for production of hot water are caused by overheating of metallic components, although existing components are usually fabricated from heat resistant steels or super-alloys such as INCOLOY 800. Therefore constructive optimization has been based of an analysis of temperature distribution in heated water and on surface of heating element, using the finite elements, for both classical solutions, which are mostly based on empirical experience, and some !
new technical solutions that have been proposed to improve the existing design experience. The newly optimized solutions are based on new forms of heating elements, as well as different positions for water inlet or outlet. Simulations of temperature distributions indicate that optimized shapes of heating element are likely to improve both heating efficiency and reduce occurrence of failures.

Abstract: Direct Torque Control is a control technique used in AC drive systems to obtain high performance torque control. The conventional DTC drive contains a pair of hysteresis comparators, a flux and torque estimator and a voltage vector selection table. The torque and flux are controlled simultaneously by applying suitable voltage vectors, and by limiting these quantities within their hysteresis bands, de-coupled control of torque and flux can be achieved. However, as with other hysteresis-bases systems, DTC drives utilizing hysteresis comparators suffer from high torque ripple and variable switching frequency. The most common solution to this problem is to use the space vector with multilevel inverter depends on the reference torque and flux. The reference voltage vector is then realized using a voltage vector modulator. Several variations of DTC-SVM with low cost multilevel inverter or parallel inverter (five level) have been proposed and discussed in the literature. !
The work of this project is to study, evaluate and compare the various techniques of the DTC-SVM with parallel inverter applied to the induction machines through simulations. The simulations were carried out using MATLAB/SIMULINK simulation package. Evaluation was made based on the drive performance, which includes dynamic torque and flux responses, feasibility and the complexity of the systems. It is better technology in electric vehicles.

Abstract: Abstract Background. Diabetes mellitus and arterial hypertension are two very frequent diseases. Both of them have important effects on vascular system and their major complications are caused by alterations of vasculature. Arterial hypertension and type 2 diabetes are frequently associated. Beyond classical risk factors implicated in both diseases, in recent years some novel markers of vascular involvement have been studied, such as intima – media thickness (IMT) and parameters of arterial stiffness. Women seem to have an increased vascular risk associated with diabetes than do men but this is not clean from the current literature. The aim of our study was to determine the consequences of hypertension and of hypertension associated with diabetes on intima media thickness and arterial stiffness in women. Patients and methods. We studied 30 women with hypertension (group 1), 33 with diabetes mellitus and hypertension (group 2) and 21 healthy controls (HC), matched !
for age. We evaluated some classical risk factors for atherosclerosis, such as age, body mass index, smoking, lipid and glucose profile in all patients and controls. We determined IMT of the common carotid artery using an ultrasound device (ALOKA prosound ɑ10) and parameters of aortic stiffness – pulse wave velocity (PWV) and augmentation index (Aix) in all patients and controls using an oscillometric device, Arteriograph (Tensio Med Ltd., Budapest, Hungary). We also determined with the same device central aortic systolic blood pressure (SBPao) and aortic pulse pressure (PPao). We compared data obtained between the three different groups examined. Results. We found that PWV was increased in group 1 patients compared HC (p<0.05) but those from group 2 had even higher values of PWV compared to HC (p=0.001). IMT was increased in patients from group 1 compared with HC and diabetic patients had a supplementary increase of this parameter compared with hypertensive patients !
but the values were significantly higher only when compared to control
s. From the classical risk factors, BMI and also fasting plasma glucose were significantly higher in diabetic patients. Parameters of arterial stiffness were correlated with age. IMT was correlated with age, fasting plasma glucose, values of brachial systolic, diastolic and mean pressure and with aortic systolic blood pressure. IMT was also correlated with parameters of arterial stiffness, PWV and AIx. Conclusion. Women with hypertension had increased arterial stiffness compared to controls. Those with hypertension and diabetes had more increased arterial stiffness and also increased IMT compared to hypertensive women and to HC. In our patients age was an important determinant of parameters of arterial stiffness. IMT was correlated with age, values of peripheral and central arterial pressure and with parameters of arterial stiffness. Coexistent diabetes and hypertension in women is associated with increased markers of vascular disease that may be a link to the important ca!
rdiovascular risk seen in these patients.

Abstract: Influence of residual stresses on the fatigue propagation of cracks represents a major concern for important components subject to complex loading. The purpose of present research is to numerically predict the lifetime of axles used for railway tank wagons in various theoretical conditions. The developed procedure is based on both calculating residual thermal stresses by mean of finite element method, and the number of cycles to fracture, using the closed form solution of NASGRO equation for fatigue. Calculations of fatigue resistance are based on fatigue crack development starting from an initial crack detectable by means of non-destructive testing. The numerical prediction of number of cycles (or kilometers) to fracture for axles belonging to railway tank wagons has proved the deep negative impact of residual thermal stresses introduced by poorly controlled heat treatments or other processing procedures.

Abstract: In this paper we propose a new approach for the modelling of the multi-variable systems (MIMO) on the Reproducing Kernel Hilbert Space (RKHS). The proposed approach considers the MIMO system as a set of MISO processes modelled in RKHS space. We propose also a comparative study of three identification kernel methods of nonlinear systems modelled in Reproducing Kernel Hilbert Space (RKHS), where the model output results from a linear combination of kernel functions. Theses methods are support vector machines (SVM), regularization networks (RN) and kernel Principal Component Analysis (KPCA). The performances of the proposed MIMO RKHS model and of each kernel method in terms of generalization ability and computing time were evaluated on numerical simulations.

Abstract: This paper presents a new methodology for the assessment of road pavement condition, based on three powerful concepts, aimed to accommodate the uncertainty caused by the complex interrelationships, material defects, structural deficiencies, human errors, and ambient fluctuations characterizing the pavement systems. These very useful concepts, selected with the aim, to approach, in a new comprehensive manner, the difficult task of assessment of road pavement condition are as follows: the concept of chance, expressed in terms of probabilities and reliability; the concept of change, expressed in terms of dynamics, e.g. of change of the pavement condition in time; the concept of entropy, expressed in terms of differences in pavement system's entropy, occurred in time, as an appropriate quantitative parameter, measuring the degree of uncertainty of a pavement to meet its specific structural, surface and traffic safety requirements.

Abstract: Ad hoc networks are a relatively new and promising communication technology. Its key aspect is represented by the specific routing protocols that assure the ad hoc manner of inter node message exchange. But like any other communication technology, ad hoc networks raise specific security problems, especially related to the routing protocols. Although researchers had been very kind with this field and lots of papers were written regarding this aspect, we see no use of these networks in real life applications. A possible explanation would be the lack of user confidence in the security of these special wireless networks. As a countermeasure we propose the use of formal validation methods, model checking in particular, to formally prove the security properties of these protocols. The idea is not necessary new. What represent the novelty are the used tools: HLPSL and AVISPA. Until now researchers used in this matter only mathematical methods or tools like SPIN, that cann!
ot be automated or the possible automation degree is very low. On the contrary, AVISPA offers the possibility to highly automate the modeling the model checking of these protocols.

Abstract: Automatic modeling system using Matlab-Simulink software package applies the Cohen-Coon method for determining the closed loop PID parameters and plotting the system response clue. Implementing the same system in closed loop PID adjustment using LabVIEW software package, requires, at first, an additional procedure, namely, the use of transfer functions in Z domain, that means the use of sampling signal. The study from this paper intends to determine the parameters of a PID regulator using two software packages - MATLAB-Simulink and LabVIEW. As a mathematical pattern a DC machine has been used. To exemplify regulators PID, LQR (Linear Quadratic Regulator) and PI-MIMO (PI – Multiple Input Multiple Output) were used. The application is easy to be implemented, the inverted pendulum being used to emphasize the results. The closed loop system and its evolution over time are easily implemented. This software package offers an easy user interface, which means that is conve!

Abstract: In this paper, Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD) is applied to the analysis of the unsteady rotor-stator interaction in a low-pressure centrifugal compressor. Numerical simulations are carried out through finite volumes method using the Unsteady Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes Equations (URANS) model. Proper Orthogonal Decomposition allows an accurate reconstruction of flow field using only a small number of modes; therefore, this method is one of the best tools for data storage The POD results and the data obtained by the Adamczyk decomposition are analyzed. Both decompositions show the behavior of unsteady rotor-stator interaction, but the POD modes allow quantifying better the numerical errors.

Abstract: Web development projects are certainly different from traditional software development projects and, hence, require differently tailored measures for accurate effort estimation. Effort estimation accuracy will affect the availability of resource allocation and task scheduling. In this paper, we investigate the suitability of a newly proposed quality metrics and models to estimate the effort and duration for small or medium-size Web development projects. It then describes a new size metrics, presents two novel methods (WEBMO+ and VPM+), based on WEB model (WEBMO) using Web objects instead of SLOC and Vector Prediction Model (VPM), to fast estimate the development effort of Web-based information systems. We also empirically validate the approach with a four projects study. The results indicate that the approach provides a mechanism to measure the size of software systems, classify software systems, and estimate development effort early in the software life cycle to w!
ithin +/-20 percent across a range of application types. In contrast with other existing methods, WEBMO+ and VPM+ uses raw historical information about development capability and high granularity information about the system to be developed, in order to carry out such estimations. This method is simple and specially suited for small or medium-size Web based information systems.
