TITLE: Voltage Sag Compensation Using a DG –Based Power Quality Control Center

KEYWORDS: Distributed generator, Power quality control center, voltage sag, compensation, sensitive load

ABSTRACT: Abstract: In this paper, operation of a power quality control center is presented. The system under study is composed of a back to back PWM power converter, a dc bus, a DG connected to dc link, and a sensitive load. This system is examined for mitigation of voltage sag effects on sensitive loads. The range of voltage sags that system can ride-through is determined by control and the current rating of power quality control input side inverter. So, a three-stage operation scheme for consideration of voltage sag ride-through capability is investigated where the severity of voltage sags is increased in each stage. The control scheme is studied and implemented in Matlab environment with the emphasis being placed on regulation of dc link voltage. Simulation results are obtained and analyzed to compare the capability of the control scheme under different voltage sag conditions.
