Abstract: Abstract: - In this paper, optimum single input Fuzzy Proportional Integral controller for dc to ac converter is presented. Contrary to conventional Fuzzy controllers, the proposed controller exhibits fewer numbers of rules and tuning parameters but capable to perform identically as the conventional. These lead to simpler design and optimum control performance. The controller is designed to be as PI controller for small-signal disturbances while for optimum large-signal performance, heuristic tuning is employed. The tuning is easy because one need only to tune two tuning parameters. To validate the optimum design, the proposed controller is applied to regulate a dc to ac converter. The system is simulated and hardware prototype is developed for comparison purposes.
