Abstract: The explosive growth of wireless communication has enabled the development of low cost, low power multifunctional sensors. Composing these sensor nodes into sophisticated computational and communication infrastructure to form Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) is a unique challenge to modern technology. In most of the applications they are often deployed in hostile environments where security becomes an important issue. Since sensor nodes are resource constrained, addressing the security issues becomes a challenging problem in WSNs. A wide variety of key predistribution techniques have been proposed to use with WSNs, but which is the best is still under discussion. In this paper we present a survey of various key management schemes available for WSNs. It can be noticed that no predistribution technique is best suited for all the WSNs application scenarios and therefore the key management scheme must be chosen based upon the requirements of the applications and the res!
