Abstract: Dynamic voltage restorers (DVRs) are used to protect sensitive loads from the effects of voltage sags on the distribution feeder. The DVR, which is placed in series with a sensitive load, must be able to respond quickly to a voltage sag. The DVR, which is based on Impedance source converter (ZSC) has been proved suitable for the task of compensating voltage sags. The impedance source inverter employs a unique impedance network couple with inverter main circuit and rectifier. By controlling the shoot through duty cycle, the Z source inverter system using MOSFET provide ride through capability during voltage sags, reduces line harmonics, improves power factor and reliability. Simulation results are presented to illustrate and understand the performance of DVR in supporting load voltages under voltage sags conditions for IEEE 30 bus system.
