Abstract: Abstract: - This paper presents a new control strategy topology for the utilization of a fuel cell as a main power source in addition to battery/supercapacitor for electric vehicle applications. The proposed topology has the virtue of high power density and high energy density in order to overcome the fuel cell starvation phenomenon, improve the energy conversion efficiency and extend battery lifetime. The design procedure of the system components is introduced in this paper. In addition to that, the proposed topology is highly effective during vehicle regenerative braking. Furthermore, the whole system which is composed of fuel cell, battery pack, supercapacitor module, buck/boost bidirectional converter and control algorithm is simulated using ANSOFT SIMPLORERTM. Simulated results verify the validity of the proposed control approach.
