Abstract: The study of L-band signals from Asia Star satellite of Worldspace, USA is done for designing a communication system. Analyzing the signal strength of these L-band satellite signals in fixed as well as mobile conditions is of great importance for our modeling approach. Variations in signal strength due to high rise buildings, multipath fading, vegetation have been assessed. We have used diversity technique to mitigate the effects of multipath fading and equalization technique to reduce the inter symbol interference of the signal. Our goal is to improve the bit error rate (BER) performance of the communication system.
