Abstract: Abstract: Compared to other areas of tourism research, little work has been done in relation to researching tourism education in Egypt. This descriptive research seeks to review the tourism doctoral theses accepted by the Egyptian tourism colleges during the period 1975-2008. The data deducted from this research facilitates drawing a chronological map of the awarded theses as well as exploring the major trends of the topics researched within those doctoral theses, which consequently helps identifying the areas attracting more research and untouched research areas. To achieve these aims, the Egyptian tourism PhD theses were exclusively listed using a "documents analysis approach" before being reviewed by a panel of academics using the "Delphi technique" for identifying the theses' major and secondary areas of knowledge. Analyzing the data extracted from this research revealed several findings which jointly assure the need for a unified, long term plan in the area of!
postgraduate tourism research in Egypt.
