Abstract: The assessment of dental age is useful in the planning of orthodontic treatment, in pediatric dentistry, pediatric endocrinology and forensic medicine. It also adds important knowledge of growth and development to human biology. The aim of our study was to investigate the applicability of Demirjian method for estimation of dental age in Romanian children and if the tables developed for French-Canadian population are not applicable, to develop new equation and tables for our boys and girls. Our survey was conducted on a final sample of 441 radiographs of patients aged between 5.5 and 14.5 years (218 girls and 223 boys). The sample was divided in groups, considering an age interval of one year. All dental pantomograms were scored by two examiners and intra- and inter- examiner calibration was made. We used dedicated software for scoring, dental age determination and for creating a database. A paired t-test was used to assess any difference between chronological and d!
ental age. On average, the Romanian girls showed an overestimation of 0,36 years, meaning 132 days, p=0,129, á = 0.05 and boys an underestimation of 0.04 years, meaning 15 days, p = 0.852, á = 0.05. New tables were developed in order to convert dental maturity calculated according to Demirjian method into dental age of contemporary Romanian children.

Abstract: Abstract: A research of the various curricular models in Romania based on the principle of innovation has revealed inexplicable deficiencies at a national level from the perspective of planning these models on the basis of two basic principles: the learners' needs and the adaptation to the specificity of each discipline. Our paper briefly presents a series of curricular models for teaching languages that have been successfully implemented in various countries with efficient results and which we propose as a solution for the Romanian impasse. The common denominator of the selected models that seems to have ensured their success is the concentration on developing competences and implementing the "new" after a thorough analysis of the needs of both agents of innovation (teachers) and subjects of education (students). After the presentation of these models we also propose a readjusting of priorities that have to place the learners' and teachers' needs at the peak of th!
e pyramid and that have to start from the practitioners (teachers) towards the institutional policy makers. We also attempt offering our own model of an integrative innovative curricular model that wishes to offer solutions to the problems arising in implementing an innovative model of teaching languages taking into consideration the participants (the individual – the students, the teachers –, the work group, the organization), the hindering factors that their attitudes, behaviours, goals, etc. might trigger and the solution to such problems. The study was unfolded in CNCSIS – TE 282/July 2010 "INOVACOM – Curricular innovations for the development of the pedagogical competencies of teachers of Romanian language and communication through initial training programmes for teachers".

Abstract: The current paper describes a control system designed for configuration of the locomotory prosthesis. The modeling and control system, which is the main subject of this paper, is designed to model, configure and control the intelligent prosthesis in absence of a patient, for research, developing or testing purposes. It offers a valuable help in determining the prosthesis' movements precision and reproducibility along with their conformity to the software modeled movements. It generates low level electrical signals, similar with the myoelectrical ones, which allow prosthesis tests and configurations to be made in laboratory conditions. The system has been tested on a simple active leg-prosthesis prototype and the results are presented.

Abstract: The heating of charge carriers in a quantum well was studied. The calculations of thermodynamic and electronic parameters: concentration, energy, chemical potential, heat-capacity and thermo electromotive force of hot two-dimensional electron gas in a quantum well in the energy region near or below the threshold for emission of optical phonon under the assumption that below this threshold an electron temperature can be defined, had been modeled. The obtained equations describe the dependence of heat-capacity and thermal electromotive force on a film thickness and an electron temperature in a good manner. It was determined that the acquired results calculated for the model under consideration, strongly differed from the results calculated on the base of a Maxwell distribution function.

Abstract: CMOS technology is approaching the nano-electronics range nowadays, but experiences some practical limits. High leakage current in deep submicron technologies are becoming a major contributor to total power dissipation of CMOS circuits as the threshold voltage, channel length and gate oxide thickness are scaled. Consequently identification and modeling of different leakage components is very important for estimation and reduction of leakage power in scaled CMOS circuits, especially for low power applications. The ongoing technology trend will become difficult to maintain unless dedicated library cells, new logic styles and circuit methods are emerging to rectify the shortcomings of future nano-scale circuits. The logic styles used in the design of CMOS full adder circuit have many limitations in terms of power and number of transistors. Hybrid full adder is designed in which the sum and carry blocks are connected to supply through a keeper circuit. Keeper circui!
t keeps the main circuit active only during the active part of input signal and also acts as a level restorer. This reduces the leakage power dissipation thereby decreasing the total power dissipation. The proposed adder blocks are designed and simulated using TSPICE. Fabrication technology used is 180nm. Performance of the proposed adder design is analyzed in terms of power, delay and power delay product (PDP). Analysis shows that the proposed power efficient adder is superior in performance to BBL-PT (Branch-Based Logic Pass- transistor) adder.

Abstract: This study reported the effect of 4 organic loading rates (OLR) varied from 25-40 g hexose/L-d on bio-hydrogen production from sweet sorghum syrup by anaerobic mixed cultures in anaerobic sequencing batch reactor. The optimum OLR was found to be 30 g hexose/L-d in which a maximum yield, a maximum specific hydrogen production rate and a hydrogen content of 0.53 mol H2/mol hexose, 32.52 mL/g MLVSS.d and 37.66%, respectively, were achieved. Microbial community analyzed by DGGE at the optimum OLR of 30 g hexose/L-d indicated that the predominance hydrogen producer was Clostridium acetobutylicum, C. proteolyticum and Clostridium sp. A low hydrogen yield obtained might be resulted from the presence of Lactococcus lactis and Lactobacillus sp. in the fermentation broth.

Abstract: According to Gartner Report, Augmented Reality is a desirable next generation content technology that allows of inserting 3D virtual objects into the real-world environment seen through the camera. It maximizes interest and flow experience with its interactive feature. In other words, it is a technology that can reduce the difference between the virtual world and the real world. Thus, one of important objectives of Augmented Reality is to enable users to have enhanced flow experience toward the augmented contents. However, generally virtual objects do not have physical properties, which results in reduced flow experience in simulation on virtual objects. Therefore, his research suggests a technology that gives users control over directions of moving objects in AR video.

Abstract: Artificial bee colony (ABC) algorithm is successfully used for many hard, mostly continuous, optimization problems. There is a way to extend standard ABC algorithm to constrained problems. In this paper an improved version of the artificial bee colony algorithm adjusted for constrained optimization problems is presented. It uses Deb's rule. This modified algorithm has been implemented and tested on four standard engineering constrained benchmark problems which contain discrete and continuous variables. Our results were compared to the results obtained by simple constrained particle swarm optimization algorithm (SiC-PSO) which showed a very good performance when it was applied to the same problems. Our results are of the comparable quality with faster convergence.

Abstract: In this paper we consider an optical code division multiple access (OCDMA) indoor wireless communication system using spectral encoding and evaluate its performances in cases of classical OCDMA, dynamic OCDMA and OCDMA with deconvolution. We present an analysis of the receiver movement influence on the indoor wireless communications system performances. As the receiver moves increasingly away from transmitter the amount of power received in that place will be getting smaller and system performances are affected. Knowledge of the impulse response in different positions in the room allows calculation of the amount by which power is lower at that point. We showed that increasing the power received in that place with the necessary amount, system performance are maintained at the same values, even if the receiver is moving away from transmitter. The bit error rate (BER) was estimated by means of simulations for several scenarios. The simulation results confirm the fact !
that using deconvolution in OCDMA systems, the multipath interference is reduced and the BER performances are significantly improved for diffuse configuration, as compared to the case without deconvolution.

Abstract: Quality function deployment (QFD) has been widely used on many fields; it is one of the structured approach that are used to translate customer needs into specific quality development. However, in the traditional QFD approach, each element¡¦s interdependence and customer requirements for green supply are usually not systematically treated. The important function of green product lifecycle management (GPLM) is to develop an attractive system which ensures customer satisfaction for green supply. Therefore, one of the important topics of the GPLM system developments is to take customer requirements into green consideration. This study presents an integrative approach by incorporating GPLM with fuzzy analysis into the matrix of QFD and obtaining the priority ranking of engineering characteristics. To illustrate these findings, we have incorporated an example which suggests that the proposed approach can contribute to the creation of attractive GPLM attributes and GPLM !
innovation. Several important and unimportant engineering characteristics and customer requirements were identified and analyzed. The results of this study can provide an effective procedure for improving product¡¦s design characteristics under GPLM, enhancing customer satisfaction and green product in the marketplace.

Abstract: Control of robotic systems is vital due to wide range of their applications because this system is multi- input multi-output, nonlinear, and uncertainty. Consequently, it is difficult to design accurately mathematical models for multiple degrees of freedoms robot manipulator. Therefore, strong mathematical tools used in new control methodologies to design a controller with acceptable performance. As it is obvious stability is the minimum requirement in any control system, however the proof of stability is not trivial especially in the case of nonlinear systems. One of the best nonlinear robust to control of robot manipulator is sliding mode controller. A review of sliding mode controller for robot manipulator will be investigated in this paper.

Abstract: Generally, kinetic energy in the locomotive braking is converted into heat that is transmitted to the bandage. Because of overloading of the bandaged wheels the phenomena of bandages weakening combined with tread defects appears. This danger exists especially when train brakes on long slopes and with high gradients. The decisive effect on the frictional and wear characteristics of the brake system is exerted by temperature generated at friction.

Abstract: This research is on the real-time 3D image processing system using facial feature tracking and how the system works. When transferring an input 2D image to a 3D stereoscopic image, this system provides real-time 3D synthetic images. It also provides measures to trace a face in the input image in order to distinguish a person from the background and includes measures to digitize positional values within the face by tracking colors and facial feature points. The real-time 3D image processing system in this study that uses facial feature tracking is the preprocessing system for special effects. Firstly, it allows users to utilize basic positional values obtained from a person and a background in the collected images when applying special effects. Secondly, by checking a 3D stereoscopic image in real-time, users can verify composition and image effects prior to application of special effects. Lastly, data that successfully generated facial areas can be constantly impro!
ved and used as foundation to standardize facial area detecting data as well as to create the plug-in.

Abstract: In this paper we present a route map generation of an autonomous mobile robot. The work in path planning has led into issues of map representation for a real world. Therefore, this problem is considered as one challenge in the field of mobile robots because of its direct effect for having a simple computationally efficient path planning strategy. For the real application in a real environment, it is necessary for the mobile robot to have a real time section while executing the planned path connected the start point and the goal point. The robot must then be able to understand the structure of the environment to find a way towards its target without collisions. To perform well this task several requirements must be satisfied and intelligent components become a necessity. More, world understanding and data interpreting is very solicited in any way of navigation When the target position is detected, the path planner will generate the proper path between the start and!
the goal position. This is called path planning step. The next step is to generate the geometric information of the generated path by searching the ways around the robot along the paths. This is called route map generation. When a route map generation is done, the next work is to control the robot itself to execute the route map, in order to achieve the goal planned by path planner and it is named as route runner. This is will be more clarified by the proposed work while answering to some interesting questions. The software implementation is very interesting to see the main factors are realized

Abstract: Grid task scheduling problem has been a research focus in grid computing for the past years. Some Deterministic, Heuristics or Metaheuristic scheduling approaches have been proposed to solve this NP-complete problem. However, these algorithms do not take the Multi-Objective nature of Grid Computing performance into account. In this paper we present a Multi-Objective approach using Evolutionary Algorithm (MOEA) to efficiently solve such kind of scheduling problems. Our proposal is based on NSGA-II MOEA algorithm combined with a set of Heuristics in different evolutionary operators which allow a fast convergence to optimal (or near-optimal) solutions. The results obtained by our proposed algorithm were compared and evaluated against Mono-Objective and Multi-Objective algorithms used for Grid task scheduling. The main contributions of this paper are the proposed mathematical model, the optimization model and the algorithm to solve it. Additionally we show the effectiv!
eness and robustness of the proposed algorithm.

Abstract: In this paper, an improvement of digital differential relay reliability for protecting a large power transformer is discussed. First, the Fourier sine and cosine coefficients required for fundamental, second, third and fifth harmonics determination have been calculated using rectangular transfer technique. Then, these harmonics have been used in harmonics restrain and blocking techniques used in differential protection system. Simulation testes have been carried out on a variety of magnetizing conditions (normal aperiodic inrush and over excitation conditions) using Simulink/MATLAB. The obtained results shows that the developed approach provides good discrimination between the magnetizing current and the internal fault current.

Abstract: A conditional schema is a graph-based structure which is able to represent conditional knowledge. In [1] the structure of a conditional schema was introduced and in [2] the inference mechanism corresponding to the conditional schema representations was developed. The Knowledge Representation and Reasoning (KR&R) is based on the idea that propositional content can be rigorously represented in formal languages, such that the resulted representations can be productively reasoned over by humans and machines [16]. Conditional Knowledge Representation and Reasoning represents a new brand of KR&R, for which several formalisms have been developed. The DiaSys application based on conditional knowledge was presented in [4]. In this paper we describe the evolution of that dialogue system into a client-server application. The conditional schema will be defined and exemplified. The server and the client will be presented step by step in two separate sections. The two sections a!

Abstract: The West Chester University Teachers Teaching with Technology Pre-Service/In-Service Professional Development Program housed at West Chester University located in Pennsylvania, USA, has provided professional development in the area of technology for thousands of high school and middle school mathematics teachers around the world. Each summer the program offers several graphing handheld institutes for teachers of mathematics/science. These workshops provide a breeding ground for a new and improved teacher of mathematics. Improved methods of teaching undoubtedly lead to more advanced students. In this study eight different workshops were studied. Two of these workshops were 3 consecutive full days long and the rest were 5 consecutive full days long. The same attitudinal survey was administered both before each workshop and again at the conclusion of each workshop. The study included 63 educators, mostly mathematics teachers. This study showed that a five day i!

Abstract: Both parallel and distributed systems play a vital role in the improvement of high performance computing. A primary issue concerned with the performance of a parallel application executing on a distributed system is the distribution of the tasks comprising the application among the various processors in the distributed system. This paper presents an algorithm for allocating tasks to heterogeneous processors of a distributed system to obtain optimal solutions. The proposed algorithm investigates on the application of Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), a robust stochastic search algorithm gaining popularity in several applications. As several conflicting factors influence the allocation strategy, the algorithm is designed to account for multiple objectives. The proposed algorithm is made adaptive by subjecting the PSO parameters to change within iterations. It also uses a fast non-dominated sorting approach to move the particle population towards the best non-domina!
ted set over many iteration steps. This multi objective adaptive PSO employing non-dominated sorting (MO-ANPSO) has been implemented and tested. The experiments are carried out on a simulated data set comprising several instances of task interaction graph with different levels of complexity. The results obtained reveal that the proposed method obtains a set of optimal allocations at an increased desired level of performance.

Abstract: The present paper presents the structure of an automatic decision-making system in the case of Poisson detection, based on the MAP (or PM) decision criteria, known from the information theory. The purpose of the system is to analyze the results of the market study, namely the exit from the measurement process and to decode the message transmitted, taking into account the presence of market noise which generates errors in the decoder's decision. The discrete version of "the decoder" is very suitable for examining the method of functioning of this type of decoder. In the integrated version of the system, the adders are replaced with integration circuits.

Abstract: The thermomechanical behavior of building materials and whole engineering structures is conditioned by their complicated non-periodic microstructure and non-deterministic influences from external environment, involving phase changes, moisture transport, etc. However, technical standards require evaluation of effective (macroscopic) material characteristics for simplified linear differen-tial or integral equations. Abstract: We present a realistic and fully automatic content-based approach for retrieval MLB sports frames efficiently. Specifically, we present a rule-based method for detecting primary and recurrent scenes in MLB videos (e.g., MLB pitching scenes in baseball). The proposed approach transfers each MLB sports frame to a color cipher using only straightforward 8 rules. Subsequently, we utilize the color ciphers to compare the MLB sports frames, namely color ciphers comparison. We succeed in transferring the MLB sports frames retrieval problem to color ciphers comparison, so the computational complexity is decreased obviously. Our system keeps both advantages of the content based videos retrieval system (similarity-based retrieval) and a text based videos retrieval system (very rapid and mature).

Abstract: we consider several distributed collaborative key agreement and authentication protocols for dynamic peer groups. There are several important characteristics which make this problem different from traditional secure group communication. They are: 1) distributed nature in which there is no centralized key server; 2) collaborative nature in which the group key is contributory (i.e., each group member will collaboratively contribute its part to the global group key); and 3) dynamic nature in which existing members may leave the group while new members may join. Instead of performing individual rekeying operations, i.e., recomputing the group key after every join or leave request, we are going to re key for a batch of join and leave operations. The objectives of the project are to generate a group key. With the help of the group key sharing the resources like accessing the files and implement the Queue-batch algorithm, which performs the best among the three in!
terval-based algorithms by comparing them. More importantly, to show that Queue-batch algorithm can substantially reduce the computation and communication workload in a highly dynamic environment

Abstract: We propose a novel colour segmentation algorithm can work in various illumination circumstances. The proposed colour segmentation algorithm operates directly on RGB colour space without the need of colour space transformation and it is very robust to various illumination conditions. Our approach can be employed in various domains (e.g., human skin colour segmentation, the maturity of tomatoes). Furthermore, our approach has the benefits of being insensitive to rotation, scaling, and translation. In addition, the system can be applied to different applications, for example, colour segmentation for fruits (vegetables) quality control by merely changing the values of the parameters (ƒÑ, ƒÒ1, ƒÒ2, ƒ×1, ƒ×2). Experimental results demonstrate the practicability of our proposed approach in colour segmentation.

Abstract: The concept of labelled stratified graph was introduced in order to obtain the concept of knowledge base with output and various applications of this concept were presented ever since. This paper studies another application of this structure: generating formal languages by means of labelled stratified graphs. Various mechanisms to define and generate formal languages are known and we show that we can obtain different types of languages such as: regular languages or context sensitive language. We also give an example of context sensitive language, but not a context-free language (according to Chomsky hierarchy), that can be generated by labelled stratified graphs. The concepts introduced in this paper can initiate a possible research line concerning the generative power of the formal languages generated by labelled stratified graphs.

Abstract: This study deals with the modelling of segmented thermoelements for Radioisotopic Thermoelectric Generator. One of the more important quantities for a thermoelement as well as for any device is its efficiency. As far as a thermoelement with segmented legs is concerned, it is not an easy task to evaluate its efficiency. In a first step, approximations are made and the values of the thermophysical and thermoelectrical parameters are assumed to be constant (mean values are used to perform calculi). Then a more complete modelling is proposed: the thermo dependence of the parameters is taken into account. The compatibility of the thermoelectric materials is checked and an optimization is be made in order to determine the value of the relative current density that allows to maximize the efficiency of the thermoelement.

Abstract: In this paper, we present an intelligent control of an autonomous mobile robot in unknown environments. When an autonomous robot moves from an initial point to a target point in its given environment, it is necessary to plan an optimal or feasible path avoiding obstacles in its way and answer to some criterion of autonomy requirements such as : thermal, energy, time, and safety for example. Therefore, the major main work for path planning for autonomous mobile robot is to search a collision free path. . A key prerequisite for a truly autonomous robot is that it can navigate safely within its environment and executing the task without doubt. The problem of achieving this mobility is one of the most active areas in mobile robotics research. When the mission is executed, it is necessary to plan an optimal or feasible path for itself avoiding obstructions in its way and minimizing a cost such as time, energy, and distance. In order to get an intelligent component, th!
e proposed approach based on intelligent computing offers to the autonomous mobile system the ability to realize these factors: recognition, learning, decision-making, and action (the principle obstacle avoidance problems) which are the main factors to be considered in any design of navigation approach. The acquisition of these faculties constitutes the key of a certain kind of intelligence. Building this kind of intelligence is, up to now, a human ambition in the design and development of intelligent vehicles. However, the mobile robot is an appropriate tool for investing optional artificial intelligence problems relating to world understanding and taking a suitable action, such as, planning missions, avoiding obstacles, and fusing data from many sources. In this context we discuss this ability by proposing this approach. The results are promising for next developments

Abstract: For the dual-sensor system, this paper, based on the TOAs (time of arrival) of periodic signal of constant-speed moving target, proposes the estimation algorithms of range, velocity, velocity components and position coordinates, and analyzes the respective observability for above target motion parameters. In addition to the situation of target motion on the sensor axis, these algorithms can estimate the range and velocity of moving target in three-dimensional space, and make two-valued estimations of velocity components and position coordinates for two-dimensional target and then obtain two upper and lower trajectories symmetrical to the connecting line of the two sensors. The false trajectory can be excluded by the information of the region or bearing of moving target and then the target can be located. The complexity of positioning system can be reduced by using two sensors to position the moving target. If only two sensors receive the signals of moving target i!
n the multi-sensor TDOA (time different of arrival) positioning system, the location of that target can also be equally achieved using the method of target motion analysis, enhancing the adaptability of the system. The simulation results verify the validity of the proposed algorithms and make contrastive analysis of the estimated accuracies for various velocity, range and positioning algorithms, and show that those based on dual sensor are better than that of single sensor.

Abstract: The reliability and security electrical supply is an important factor in modern society. However, the increasing complexity of power systems makes it difficult for protection operation to achieve these objectives. Nevertheless, numerical relays embedded with digital signal processor (DSP) are able to improve the protection operation significantly. The relays are capable of performing complex processing faster and with higher accuracy since the processing using DSP are optimized for real-time signal processing. In this paper, an overcurrent relay is built and investigated using DSP, TMS320F2812. The overcurrent protection is chosen since it is used as a major protection in the distribution systems. The overcurrent relay is modeled in MATLAB/Simulink before it is implemented on the DSP. Comparison results between simulation and hardware execution based on two implementation methods are presented. The performance evaluation of the relay in terms of operation time, mem!
ory capacity usage, execution time and transient analysis is investigated.

Abstract: The development of computer-aided design (CAD) system for clinical usage has been given excessive attention in recent years. Nonetheless, many problems still remain unsolved in the CAD field especially the segmentation problem in digital image processing. In order to increase the accuracy and efficiency in Bone age assessment (BAA), CAD system has been developed to assist the doctor and radiologist. The crucial step in the system is the bone segmentation before proceeding to the subsequent analysis and comparison with atlas. Therefore, in this paper, a method proposed to solve the problem based on grey-level co-occurrence matrix (GLCM) and k-means clustering, namely adaptive crossing reconstruction (ACR) k-mean clustering method. The method begins with bands separations into vertical and horizontal direction. Next, the pixels of each section are clustered and performed with GLCM texture analysis. At last, all the sections will be reconstructed based on the texture !
analysis. The resulting outcome shows that this method could segment the bone from the soft-tissue region and background effectively compared to global clustering method.

Abstract: The toolkit for learning classifier system for grid data mining is a communication channel between remote users and gridclass system. Gridclass system is the system for grid data mining, grid computing approach in the distributed data mining. This toolkit is a web based system therefore end users can set the configuration of each node in the grid environment and execute the grid class system from the remote location. Mainly, configuration module of the toolkit is designed for the sUpervised Classifier System (UCS) as a data mining algorithm. Toolkit has three fundamental functions such as creating new project, updating the project, and executing the project. Initially, user has to define the project based on the complexity of the problem to the system. While creating a new project all the data and configuration information about all nods are stored in the file under a user defined project name. The updating phase user can makes changes in the configuration file or !
replace the training data for new experiments. There are two sub functions in the phase of execution: do the execution of gridclass system and do the comparison and evaluation of the performance of the different executions. Toolkit can store the global model and related local models and it testing accuracies in the server system. The main focus of this work is to improve the performance of learning classifier system: therefore an attempt is made to compare the performance of learning classifier system with different configurations, which has a significant role. The ROC graph is the best option to represent the performance of classifier system. Accuracy under the curve (ACU) is a numerical value to represent the ROC curve. Therefore, users can easy to measure the performance of global model with the help of AUC. Other objective of this work is to provide friendly environment to the end users and gives better facilities to evaluate the performance of the global model.
