Abstract: A Microstrip antennas are well suited for wireless and mobile applications due to their low weight, low volume and low sensitivity to manufacturing tolerances. In the recent years, radar and communication system, such as global positing system (GPS), synthetic aperture radar (SAR), often require dual frequency patch antenna to avoid the use of two different antennas . in this paper ,we present three techniques to enhance the bandwidth , reduce the size of microstrip antenna and dual band frequency. These techniques are loading pair of narrow slots on ground plane and loading pair of step slots and a pair of right angle slots and a modified U-shaped slot in patch are simulated and fabricated and the results are compared with the conventional rectangular microstrip patch antenna. It is found that for the ultra low profile microstrip antenna the slots in the ground patch antenna gives the most reduction in the size (more than 55% compared to the conventional one ) a!
dding to dual band ,while pair of right angle slots and a modified U-shaped slot in patch gives the most wide bandwidth .
