Abstract: The rate of disease progress in a person can not be crisply stated as a mathematical formula. While deterministic methods of analysis reveal valuable information about the disease and health which can be used to formulate various studies, their clinical application is obscure. In this analysis we focus on parameters which are vital in diagnosing disease and understanding health mechanism in an organ ( rate of balance or unbalance ). We employ fuzzy set theory and compute the health rate of a person by approximate reasoning. Also, at the end we will say variations of health with variation of effective parameters. We will illustrate the method by a set of real samples

Abstract: Viana do Castelo is a mid-sized city located on the northwest Portuguese seaside, which undertook the challenge of developing an environmental program leading to the integration in the Healthy Cities European Network. Within this program includes prediction of pollutant concentration for NO2, CO, PM10, O3 and C6H6. This paper presents the methodology developed to validate the modelled results. Predicted concentrations were compared against measured concentrations of a chosen pollutant: Carbon Monoxide, CO. The methodology adopted was based in BOOT statistical approach. Five comparison statistics were calculated for three test points in order to find out the quality of the modelled results. Additionally, a hourly profile of predicted versus measured concentrations was developed.

Abstract: Uplink scheduling in OFDMA systems with imperfect CSI is investigated. An efficient CSI quantization scheme is proposed and shown to achieve good performance with a limited number of quantization bits in the perfect CSI scenario. The probability of error in quantizing imperfect CSI is studied and analytical formulas are derived. Simulation results are presented and show that the errors in estimating the CSI are to a large extent absorbed by the quantization error and the performance with quantized imperfect CSI is close to full CSI even with a reduced number of quantization bits.

Abstract: Issues orders in a power drives should be viewed in a more complex and different from how do Electronics engineers of control systems. It is best to look at the control system as a set of black boxes cascading with mathematical models defined on a system of alternating current application. Even if it takes a vector control strategy and obtain a similar behavior to that of a DC motor, many problems remain unresolved because of the particular structures of the converter and the motor due to their interaction with load and source. This paper recommends to the experts and to the users of command systems with frequency converters the usage of speed command and position command to the variable frequency drives. There are analyzed also the commands without position transducers, speed transducers or flux transducers based on approximately results. There are included also logic elements and it's proves how the velocity evolution of the technology command of electrical machi!

Powerful microprocessors and DSP (Digital Signal Processor) are able not only to directly calculate the time of ignition of a power semiconductor circuit such as the bridge phase, operating on frequency of feed, but also perform other important tasks in applications industrial automation as well as startup and shutdown sequencing, self monitoring and diagnosing faults. The most important contribution is that power chips have opened new frontiers in implementing sophisticated control systems for electric drives.

Abstract: Since business intelligence systems' impact on performance is first of all long-termed and indirect, most measures of business value are not sufficiently close to immediate influence of such systems and therefore not suitable to justify investments into business intelligence systems in real business environments. Thus, measures related to increased information quality as a result of business intelligence systems introduction are commonly used. The purpose of this study is to test how much does implementation of business intelligence systems actually contribute to solving the major issues regarding information quality. Empirical data were collected through a survey of Slovenian medium and large size organizations. Quantitative analysis was carried out on the data, which related to 181 medium and large size organizations. The results of the analysis show that business intelligence systems actually have a positive impact on both segments of information quality, namely!
content quality and media quality. However, the impact of business intelligence systems on media quality is stronger, while the quality of content is more important for making better business decisions and providing higher business value of business intelligence systems. Thus, there is still a gap between available information quality and knowledge workers' needs, in other words – key information quality problems still exist.

Abstract: The paper presents inertial sensor based human-computer interface for the disabled. The device uses commercially available inertial sensor pack to reliably measure 3D head orientation (via Kalman filtering of accelerometer, gyroscope and magnetometer measurements) which is then transformed into appropriate control signal(s) depending on the intended application scenario. In order to measure information transfer rate (or throughput) of the device, application to computer pointer control is explored. Initial study on the subject was achieved in our earlier work [1] where number of application issues were identified. The current paper deals with possible solutions to some of the issues by introducing additional signal conditioning algorithms and examines their influence on device comfort and throughput as the two most important performance parameters. Obtained information transfer rates are presented and compared to values from the initial study and to values of some !
widely used interfaces such as trackball or joystick (found in the literature). The effects of proposed improvements are discussed and conclusions are drawn.

Abstract: We present an alternative online simulation model for human tissue. Online simulation of human tissue deformation during surgical training or surgical assistance is becoming increasingly important within the medical community. Unfortunately, even classical simulation models find human tissue to be computationally too costly for online simulation. In this paper, we simplify the complex biomechanical nature of human tissue within reasonable limits to develop a mathematical model which can be used for online simulation. This simplification is based on two principles; volume conservation and Pascal's Principle. Volume conservation is inherent to many organs in the human body due to the high concentration of blood (almost incompressible liquid) in them. Given an externally applied force, we use Pascal's Principle to obtain the global deformation vector at each time-step during simulation.

Title of the Paper: Gas Jet Characteristics from Spark Plug Fuel Injector for CNG Direct Injection Spark Ignition Engine
Authors as they appear in the Paper: Taib I. Mohamad
Email addresses of all the authors:
Number of paper pages: 10
Abstract: This paper discusses some of the characteristics of gas jets emerging from a newly developed device known as Spark Plug Fuel Injection (SPFI). SPFI is a combination of a fuel injector and a spark plug that was developed with the aim to convert any port injection spark ignition engine to compressed natural gas (CNG) direct injection [9]. A direct fuel injector is combined with a spark plug using specially fabricated bracket connected to a fuel pipe and a fuel path is drawn along periphery of a spark plug body to deliver the injected fuel to the combustion chamber. Gaseous fuel is injected in the fuel path, partially expanded and travelled in a tight path before exiting the SPFI nozzle. The injection nozzle of SPFI is significantly larger than the orifice of the injector. Therefore, investigating the effects of such configuration on the gas jet characteristics is important. Planar laser-induced fluorescent (PLIF) technique was used to visualize the injection process !
with acetone as flow tracer. Nitrogen was used as methane substitute for safety and close proximity of properties. Nitrogen at 50, 60 and 80 bar pressure were seeded with acetone and injected into a bomb containing pressurised nitrogen at 1 and 3 bar. This was done to simulate the pressure inside engine's combustion chamber during the compression stroke where actual injections in engine experiments took place. The shape of gas plume and the depth of jet penetration were measured. Results show that the gas jet follows the behaviour suggested by vortex ball model [1, 12]. The cone angles of the fully developed gas jets are 23o in all cases. The maximum jet width was determined by the jet penetration lengths and was found to vary between 23 and 25 mm. The penetration lengths of the fully developed jets are between 90 and 100 mm at 8 to 14 milliseconds after the start of injections depending on the bomb and injection pressures. Jet penetration length is directly proportional t!
o the injection pressure but inversely proportional to the cylinder or
bomb pressure. The penetration lengths indicate that sufficient distance would be travelled by the gas jet for air-fuel mixing in the engine during experiment.

Abstract: In the present study, a Multi-Agent bidding decision support system for power supplier is investigated to provide information to power supplier during its bidding decision. Firstly, the layered model of the bidding decision support system for power supplier is proposed in this paper. In this model, the system composes of four layers: data gathering layer, data processing layer, bidding analyzing layer and bidding decision-making layer. The applications of Agent on each layer are analyzed respectively. In order to extract useful data from Web page and integrate them into data warehouse, a method is proposed to transfer HTML page into data source of XML by a combination of Agent technology. According to this method, data gathering layer possesses not only the general function of gathering the data, but also the function of extracting useful data from Web page and integrating them into database of the system. And then, an implementation scheme of an Agent function mod!
ule is illustrated. Finally, by the management module, the bidding decision support system for power supplier based on Multi-Agent System is established. A practical example is utilized to illustrate the effectiveness of the method.

Abstract: This paper addresses the problem of position control for robot manipulators. An Exponential family of Hyperbolic–Type controllers for robot manipulators is presented. The proposed family consists of a large class of control algorithms with nonlinear structure, which incorporates components of hyperbolic type to quickly drive the position error to zero position. We provide explicit sufficient conditions for ensuring directly global asymptotic stability of the closed-loop system composed by the nonlinear robot dynamics for n degrees of freedom and the proposed scheme. Besides the theoretical results, a real-time experimental comparison is also presented to illustrate the performance of the proposed family with other well-known control algorith such as PD and Hyperbolic Tangent schemes on a three degrees of freedom direct-drive robot arm.

Abstract: Abstract: - In this paper, the design of applicator system for regional induction heating at 2.45 GHz and using noninvasive method. The distribution of the lossy medium was analyzed using the finite difference time domain method(FDTD). The objective is to determine the area which the heat is uniformly distributed. The result from this paper was believed to be effectively when it was applied to the cancer treatment. The applicator utilized was the inducting spiral coils which were sets of two coils and four coils, and each coil has its own power-supply unit. It was fabricated by using magnetron sources operating at frequency of 2.45 GHz. The energy supplied to the induction coil was timely controlled. The results from the simulation and experimental of heating area from lossy medium were compared. Both simulation and experimental results showed good no conflict. The activation of supply units one at a time generated more heating wide area than the one when all units!
were activated at the same time. The results showed that the applicator with four coils generates more heating wide area than the one with two coils. Another interesting point is that the activation each power supply unit was turned on one by one generates more heating wide area than the activation all power supply units were turned on. In this study, both two coils and four coils were capable of producing a temperature rise of 7 Celsius degrees for 10 min. Moreover, the results from this investigation can be applied to various designs of heating wide area applicator and another advantage is its cost effectiveness.

Abstract: The objective of this paper is to develop a model of JPEG 8×8 sub-image compression and decompression for simulation and analysis by using an Upgraded Petri Net (UPN). The Upgrade Petri net is an extension of an ordinary Petri Net and a formal modeling tool appropriate for simulation and analysis of processes, particularly at the register transfer level. This paper describes an UPN model which can generate the compressed image for given input image and initial marking. From this model a new model can be derived which includes different parameters for simulation and analysis. As an example, a model that generates data for analysis of average absolute error is included. Original software for modeling and simulations of UPN, PeM (Petri Net Manager), is developed and used for all models described in this paper. This paper includes a preface on the UPN theory, the UPN model formulation, simulation and analysis.

Abstract: Abstract: There is a lack of literature regarding development of service innovations in developing financial markets. The study addresses the factors influencing the success/failure of innovations in developing financial markets. We hypothesized that the factors such as new service development process, quality of service, organizational culture and knowledge have the significant impact while market characteristics have no impact on the success of new financial services. The hypotheses are tested on the sample of 60 innovations offered on Slovenian financial market, as one of the developing financial markets. The discrepancies between the development of financial innovations in developing and developed markets with respect to the impact of these factors are also revealed. The most important differences referred to the impact of two factors, i.e. market characteristics, and technical development and technical activities.

Abstract: This paper illustrated a modified strategy of direct torque control for single-phase induction motors. The proposed strategy was based on classical six-sector hysteresis-type direct torque control scheme developed by using stator reference frame. The modification made in this paper led to two control strategies called modified six and twelve sectors, respectively. A switching table was derived based on the voltage vectors generated by the three-leg two-phase inverter topology. Simulations were carried out and performance analysis was presented.

Abstract: This paper proposes a useful technique for generating an earth resistivity map. Earth resistance is one of essential factors in a broad range of power system analysis and design. Information of earth resistivity is helpful for practical power system engineers in order to establish power system grounding. In this paper, a LANSAT7 image of a tested area of 50 km2 was used by ENVI program in associative with a set of resistivity data obtained from field measurement. By using the maximum likelihood for supervised classification of a mixed band 7, 5 and 3, highest value of 85.71% confidence was obtained.

Abstract: Additional energy source of hybrid electric buses comprises new control tasks. One of the main challenges of hybrid electric buses is the integrated control between traction motor and brakes, associated with which is the problem of switching traction motor and brakes. Existing control techniques only provide a result of frequent switch and jerky ride. In this paper, we propose a control strategy including two control laws, which are calculated simultaneously to optimize a certain tracking criterion by a fuzzy adaptive algorithm. Considering parametric uncertainties, the two control laws are used to determine whether to activate the traction motor or the pneumatic brake. The stability and convergence properties of the longitudinal brake control system are analytically proved by using Lyapunov stability theory and Barbalat¡¯s lemma. We examine the proposed algorithm for platoon performance and the simulation results demonstrate smoother behaviours when two buses driv!
e into a bus station.

Abstract: Nowadays, user authentication is one of the important topics in information security. Text-based strong password schemes could provide with certain degree of security. However, the fact that strong passwords being difficult to memorize often leads their owners to write them down on papers or even save them in a computer file. Graphical user authentication (GUA) has been proposed as a possible alternative solution to text-based authentication, motivated particularly by the fact that humans can remember images better than text. In recent years, many networks, computer systems and Internet-based environments try used graphical user authentication (GUA) technique for their user's authentication. All of graphical user authentication (GUA) algorithms have two different aspects which are usability and security. Unfortunately, none of these algorithms were not being able to cover both of these aspects at the same time. This paper presents a review on the pure and cued reca!
ll-based algorithms in graphical user authentication based on ISO standards. After explain three usability ISO standards and collect the major attributes of usability from them, we try to make a comparison table among all recall-based algorithms on usability.

Abstract: The amount of clinical data that is produced everyday in an intensive care environment makes it difficult and time-consuming for health care professionals to find and analyze the information related to the patients' clinical condition. Moreover, some of that data is in paper-based nursing records, which aggravates this scenario. Increasing the health care provided to the patients is a concern, hence the initiative to develop an electronic nursing record. As a major goal, it will also integrate the decision support system INTCare, providing the means for a rapid access to the patient's clinical information. This paper presents a specification of the electronic nursing record in development in Hospital Geral de Santo António, Oporto, Portugal.

Abstract: This article is concerned with the classification of ECG pulses by using state of the art Continuous Density Hidden Markov Models (CDHMM's). The ECG signal is simultaneously observed at different level of focus by means of the Wavelet Transform (WT). The types of beat being selected are normal (N), premature ventricular contraction (V) which is often precursor of ventricular arrhythmia, two of the most common class of supra-ventricular arrhythmia (S), named atrial fibrillation (AF), atrial flutter (AFL), and normal rhythm (N). Based on long term statistics taken from MIT-BIH Arrhythmia Database a threshold is established above which no misclassifications were obtained. ECG pulses which likelihood is below this threshold are selected for a posterior physician analysis. Experimental results were obtained in real data from MIT-BIH Arrhythmia Database and also in data acquired from a developed low-cost Data-Acquisition System.

Abstract: In this paper is presented the possibility of using solar energy and the promotion of use of this energy source. It is being worked hard in this way to promote the use of this source of energy through the installation of solar panels. The important sources of renewable energy which can be used in Kosovo are solar energy. Kosovo has suitable climate conditions and solar radiation about 1400 [kWh/m2year] that is approximately 40% greater than in some European countries where the use of solar energy for heating of sanitary water use has major trends. Once that has a large amount of solar radiation will be presented and the implementation of a project in a university clinical center.

Abstract: New applications usually combine interactivity and multimedia resulting in a huge diversity of possible services. The negotiated quality of service should be result of application/user requirements and network possibilities. The most important topic in QoS provision is how to efficiently manage network resources. This paper describes an experimental implementation of the QoS network management for serving the users by some defined QoS characteristics. The applications developed for negotiation and maintenance of the desired quality of service between the server and clients are analyzed. The main classes of developed applications as well as the connections between applications´ objects are described. Finally, some results describing functionality of QoS management in experimental environment are shown.

Abstract: After the information security audit, the auditor commonly points out the importance of information assets, the vulnerability of the audited information system, and the need of countermeasures. On such an occasion, the audited often ask the auditor for the quantitative assessment of the risk so that they can take specific measures. Nevertheless, in reality, the auditor can hardly meet this requirement because they do not have any appropriate methods to assess the risk quantitatively and systematically. Therefore, this paper proposes the approach that makes it possible to identify the scenarios of information security accidents systematically, to assess the risk of the occurrence of the scenario quantitatively, and to point out the importance of taking countermeasures by incorporating Probabilistic Risk Assessment in information security audit. For the concrete description and explanation of this approach, this paper takes the case of the audit of password manage!
ment as an example. By enumerating the possible scenarios that indicate how initiating events, the vulnerability of mitigation systems, and the failures of operations can allow illegal accesses to the information assets, this paper shows that it is possible to assess the security risks by the pair of defenseless time span and its occurrence frequency of each scenario. Finally, since the parameters necessary for risk quantification such as the occurrence frequency of password theft, the probability of theft detection, and the probability of taking countermeasure after the theft have uncertainty, the uncertainty of the occurrence of the scenario itself is assessed by propagating the incompleteness of the knowledge of these parameters with random digits.

Abstract: In this paper we introduce a novel self-organizing method of moving surface reconstruction from the data obtained from mea-suring real-world objects. The core of the approach is using Koho-nen's Self Organizing Maps model. We propose a modification of the model enforcing input data approximation and time-space smoothing. Due to stochastic nature of the proposed method, in many cases it is not necessary to employ additional denoising or da-ta filtering. Underlying self-organizing principles make the tech-nique human-free, efficient and easy to parallelize. The method was implemented using AITricks GeomBox® package

Abstract: This paper presents an application of Principal Component Analysis (PCA) to the problem of pose estimation in computer vision. Continuum Shape Constraint Analysis (CSCA), a theoretical development bases on PCA, generates a variety of numerical measures that can be used to assess the shape and predict the accuracy of pose estimation. The proposed approach was developed for LIDAR-based scanning that samples non-specific points from the object across the area observed from a single view. Based on CSCA measures, the paper answers the question: what views of an object can be expected to lead to the lowest pose estimation error computed via the Iterative Closest-Point Algorithm, or conversely, what level of error can be expected for a particular scan view. A novel measure, the Expectivity Index, presented in this paper, is used to assess and predict the pose estimation accuracy. The approach is demonstrated in both numerical simulation and experimental studies using the!
Stanford Bunny, cuboid and asymmetrical cuboctahedron shapes. The continuum nature of the CSCA formulation produces measures that are pure shape properties an object.

Abstract: Abstract: - This paper extends the previous research regarding the Romanian electronic market as context for the launching a business opportunity in this domain. Here we will present a study on the indigenous e-commerce websites in general and their usability in particular. Nowadays, an impressive number of virtual businesses were open despite the crisis, since others closed their doors due to the same reason. Thus, before starting a new business, it is strongly recommended to make a deeper analysis of the environment and potential competitors, especially in the Web 2.0 context. Web 2.0 provides a winning edge over e-markets that lack social connectivity and high usability features. Usability cannot be quantified easily. Despite this fact, this paper will propose a usability evaluation methodology that will be tested in the local virtual space. For a visitor, usability is more related to a feeling than a figure, and the designer must power the website with it. We !
have also tackled a main branch of the electronic marketing, entitled SEO (Search Engineering Optimization). In order to promote our business and to put/keep it in the top of the search result list, a continuous optimization of the dynamic web site is required. We asses that usability and SEO must be both considered for the success of an electronic business. For our purposes, a statistical study was applied, using a battery of tests including the Kolmogorov-Smirnov, Spearman, and Kruskal-Wallis ones. Also, some data mining tools will be used to confirm or infirm the statistical assertions.

Abstract: Protecting data transfer over public insecure network in an efficient way is a challenging task. Network security involves encrypting traffic, authentication and validating packets' integrity. These services implement symmetric and asymmetric cryptographic algorithms. Architectures that implement network security not only have to meet high computing de-mands, but they also have to be flexible enough to adapt to changing cryp-tographic parameters and to respond to changes in security standards. Im-plementing security protocols on mobile devices sets another burden on cryptographic architectures to be power efficient. In this paper we study some of the prominent cryptographic architectures. This study led to the development of a new architectural model called Colored Data Triggered Architecture. This model is customized for low-power security applications in the Low-Power Globally Asynchronous Locally Synchronous Architec-ture for Cryptography (LP-GALS-C). We provide!
a detailed discussion of the processor implemented using this architecture and show its advantages over existing architectures.

Abstract: New light theory include the principles for definitions of Newton and Huygens, such that it is stated that the light possesses a dual function; some phenomena like interference and diffraction indicate its wave function and others like photoelectric, compton phenomena,… can be explained with its particular function.[1] For light nature, Max Planck Photoelectric test and Albert Einstein observations indicate that light act as a quantized pockets (Photon) with their energy calculated by ε= hν.[2] Objective: However, what is the essence of the light and in turning energy of a specific form to the radiation form, how photons formed, are of questions need to be answered further. Our goal in this paper is answering to such discussed questions as well as more understanding the light nature; such that we can present a general hypothesis by which one can explain light properties such as time extension during the spontaneous process of forming photons and gravitati!
onal redshift. Methods: Considering the specific conditions of light (like existing time extension) in high speeds, we studied the difference between occurrence of a spontaneous process between regular speeds and light speeds. So we present a model accordingly prove the theorem and related hypothesis. Proving the hypothesis for justifying the gravitational redshift, probability theory of light will be proved. Conclusion: (1) The process of light formation has comprised from two stages, irreversible and equilibrium, during which, there are observed mass and energy survival rule. (2)In existing time extension in light speed, based on second law of thermodynamic, one have to accept this model for formation of photons. (3)The possibilities of any event succeed and photons formation is a complicated function of temperature. (4)Gravitational redshift is an event justified by assuming the Probability Theory of Light.

Abstract: This paper proposes a framework for capturing semantics from eye tracking data during the process of text skimming/scanning by readers of electronic documents and HTML user interfaces. RDFa and HTML microformats are some of the easier ways proposed by the Semantic Web paradigm for embedding semantics in web pages. XSLT transformations or specialized parsers may easily convert such documents to RDF/XML semantic repositories. However, semantics do not usually have an absolute character. Although a variety of web 2.0 oriented ontologies and microformats have been widely adopted or even standardized (Dublin Core, FOAF, XFN etc.), in order to achieve semantic interoperability, there are scenarios in which user-relative semantics are especially important, such as in the development of customization engines (web session customization, recommender systems, targeted advertising), when a certain user must only share semantics with himself or with similar persons. Having the !
same web document, different readers would attach various semantics and relevance to the ideas, concepts or structural blocks of the document. Eye tracking is an emerging field with multiple applications in medicine, marketing, cognitive sciences and others, which allows the extraction of data regarding the eye activity of a user during human-computer interaction. Eye tracking data is valuable in measuring reading patterns, user experience and reflects the specific parts of an image or documents that attract the user's interest.

Abstract: Abstract - Objetive: To study the tissue repair around the textured mammary implants under the action of papain (PA). Methods: Thirty-six Wistar rats were evaluated and randomly distributed into two groups (n = 18): papain (PA) and control (CT). Each group was equally distributed into 3 subgroups (n = 6) and observed on seventh, thirtieth-fifth and ninth pos-operative days. Each animal received a textured implant in the left dorso-axillary region (sham - SH), on were instilled 0.5 mL saline solution 0.9%, and another textured implant on the right dorso-axillary region (papain - PA), on were instilled 0.5 mL of water-soluble solution of papain. The control group (CT) received only textured implant in the left dorso-axillary region with prior instillation of 0.5 mL of saline solution 0.9%. The histological analysis of the 3 subgroups was carried out using picrosirius-red stain and an image analyzing system using the Image Pro Plus™ program to evaluate the thickness a!
nd maturation and deposition of collagen fibers. Immunohistochemical evaluation was performed, using micrometric reticules of Weiss (Olympus Labstore™), for myofibroblasts counting only in the 90th day subgroup. Results: At 35th and 90th days, the papain group (PA) presented reduction on the fibrous capsule thickness around the implant, in the number of collagen fibers and myofibroblasts, comparing to the control group (CT). Conclusion: The papain drug decreased the fibrous capsule formation around the textured silicon implants in rats.
