Abstract: In the present study, the effects of congestion management caused by settlement rule based on matchmaking transaction mechanism are investigated. For the matchmaking transaction mechanism applied in South China electricity market, taking the minimum adjustment cost as objective function, the model and algorithm to eliminate congestion under matchmaking transaction mechanism are proposed. Due to the nonlinear interaction relation between the settlement price and unit outputs under this mechanism, the objective function possesses nonlinear characteristic. To solve the proposed model, the active power increment of each generator that successfully matches with the load side is chosen as solving variable, and augmented objective function is built by leading in Lagrange multiplier. The model is solved by the Kuhn-Tucker optimal conditions method. The calculation results of a 6-bus system show that when the congestion management is under the condition that minimal adjustm!
ent cost increment is taken as objective function, the adjustment cost will be the highest while the settlement is based on unified marginal price and that will be the lowest while the settlement is based on actual quoted price, and the adjustment cost will be between them while the settlement is based on the price of matchmaking transaction.
