Abstract: Tourism creates regional and local economic growth opportunities and contributes to the creation of new jobs by capitalizing the cultural and natural patrimony. The funds have specific objectives and support for tourism development manifests itself in regions that already have an established tourist industry, in cros- border cooperation, rural development and also where tourism has contributed to the diversification of economic activities in areas of industrial decline. In order to assess the degree of the accessing of structural funds we have analyzed and interpreted the existent data concerning the contracted projects and we have noticed the tendencies and particularities of the absorption of European funds.
