Abstract: A system designed for automotive application has several tough requirements like: wide operating temperature range, long lifetime and high immunity against all kind of disturbances. This paper resents a new input circuit based on a new concept for rotational speed sensors with improved immunity against EMC disturbances. The basic functionality of these circuits is the conversion of the input signal encoded in current levels in standard logic levels, interpretable by the system microcontroller. This new concept uses a comparator circuit with an automatically adapting threshold voltage, obtaining a better immunity of the circuit against the input signal noises. Simulation and experimental results are provided to prove the circuit concept validity and its higher performance.
