Abstract: In this paper we show how the notion of augmentability can be generalized to certain optimization problems that lie beyond the classical setting of constrained minimum problems in a finite dimensional space. We provide a brief overview of some of the main ideas related to the theory of augmentability for minimum problems involving equality and inequality constraints. Based on this theory, we introduce a notion of augmentability which is used in place of normality to establish first and second order necessary conditions for optimal control problems with mixed equality constraints.
