Abstract: This paper presents a method to design a new control algorithm, using the nonlinear feedback transformation technique to deal with the control problem of multilevel inverter-induction motors system. To provide effective control, nonlinearities and flying capacities voltages variations in the model must be taken into account in the control design. Based on input-output linearization theory, a decoupled nonlinear control strategy is obtained for induction motor by assuring multilevel inverter capacities voltages stabilization. Simulation results demonstrate that the approach proposed in this paper is correct, and the control strategy designed is effective.

Abstract: There is a strong pressure from investors to report accounting items using fair value concept upon economic boom. The financial crisis period may raise an issue of revival of conservative concepts in financial reporting, e.g. historical costs measurement and application of prudence principle. Conceptual solution of valuation issues need not to come out from current economic situation and it is impossible to change this concept every time when economic conditions tend to change. Unsystematically changes of valuation concepts may conduce to instability of economic system. This paper performs a comparative analysis of reporting under national standards of Czech Republic and International Financial Reporting Standards with the special focus on small-and-medium sized enterprises (SMEs). The results show significant compatibility of reporting under both regulations.

Abstract: The traditional single clonal selection algorithm has a lot of disadvantages, for example, it is easy to be trapped into local optima, and it has a lot of massive redudacy iteration in its later period and inferior global search ability and so on. In this paper, a new artificial immune algorithm is proposed based on the clonal selection theory and the structure of anti-idiotype(IAAI), which is improved as follows: firstly, IAAI constructs a dynamic clonal expansion, secondly clonal mutation, thirdly dislocated line clonal recombinant, lastly clonal selection. Through the above mentioned several key steps, IAAI is improved in order to achieve the evolution of the whole antibody population, then the new algorithm can have strong search capabilities which make it reach better performance by perfoming global search and local search in many directions in the solution space. Then the global convergence of the new algorithm is analyzed from the test of several typical co!
mplex functions. The result shows that the algorithm can effectively overcome the premature problem, and improve the ability of global optimization, the speed of convergence.

Abstract: This paper proposed a novel multi-objective affinity set (MO affinity set) classification system comparing with Ant colony optimization (ACO) and affinity set theory on delayed diagnosis dataset classification. The research result showed that the output of MO affinity set classification rules has the higher accuracy than ACO and traditional affinity set. The output 8 classification rules were used to build up an online medical support system that has the accuracy 80.8%. Furthermore, our MO affinity set classification skips the traditional affinity set k-core method, and has fewer rules. It is better and more easily to apply or to construct a support system if the number of rules is smaller.

Abstract: This paper mainly deals with the issue of early fault diagnosis for rotating machinery. An alarm strategy called the slow-changing alarm (SCA) is proposed to predict early fault of equipment timely and effectively. Meanwhile, the SCA system is the integration of adaptive lifting de-noising scheme, adaptive learning algorithm and decision-making strategy of alarm monitoring and diagnosis for the early fault of rotating machinery. In the paper, both the theories and realization of SCA system are thoroughly researched. Firstly, an adaptive lifting de-noising scheme is proposed to eliminate noise, and then the features of early fault are extracted from de-noised signal. Secondly, the key problem to implement on the SCA system is successfully resolved through adaptive learning algorithm and the decision-making strategy of SCA. To be specific, the alarm threshold of SCA system is obtained based on a novel adaptive learning algorithm, and the alarm based on features of!
vibration signals is activated according to decision-making strategy of SCA, while the relevant alarm log and data of SCA are instantly saved into database to analyze the causes of faults effectively, acquiring the early fault result synchronously. The proposed system has been applied in some petrochemical projects. In an engineering case, this system can preferably capture the early fault signal of rotating machinery, and considerably enhance the capability of predicting and diagnosing early fault.

Abstract: Generally, the traditional building techniques uses natural and local building materials such as stone, woodand earth and, are associated to building procedures that requires small amount of energy consumption and release an expressive noxious gases to atmosphere. The development of green building techniques that help the building industry contributing to a much more sustainable world may be inspired on these traditional building techniques as models. Each sector of societies including ourselves should pay a bill for environmental damaging. Each construction should have as associated environmental damaging cost and the selection process of a construction design solution should also be done in a sustainable bases in which the environmental parameters should be clearly identified and quantified. The tabique is one of the main Portuguese traditional building techniques, which is based on raw materials as earth and wood. In general, a tabique wall is formed by a simple!
timber structure covered by an earth based material. Earth has an important role in this system because it protects the internal timber structure as well as is a finishing. The Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro is the northeast region of Portugal and it is very rich in terms of tabique heritage construction. Meanwhile, the existing tabique constructions show a generalized advanced stage of deterioration. This aspect associated to the fact that there is still a lack of scientific studies done in this field motivated this research work, which its main objectives are to identify the building process of tabique elements and to identify/characterize the applied materials. It is intended to stimulate and to give guidance for future rehabilitation works in this field. Taking into account that this region has a large area, it was necessary to divide this work in six stages related to the six council associations, which are Alto Tâmega; Terra Quente Transmontana; Terra Fria do Nordeste T!
ransmontano; Vale do Douro Norte; Vale do Douro Sul and Douro Superior
. This work is focused on the council association of Vale do Douro Norte (Douro North Valley), and uses twelve constructions as study cases. This research work also intends to contribute for a better sustainable world by stimulating the applications of natural building materials and the reutilization of traditional building techniques which are environmental friendly.

Abstract: Organ and bone marrow transplant represents a chance to life for the patients with end-stage diseases like terminal cardiac, hepatic, renal failure or leukemia, aplastic anemia and immune deficiency syndromes. The success of the transplantation procedure depends on the immune reactivity of the recipient patient, which may trigger the rejection or reject phenomena. The immunosuppressive drugs, administrated in the posttransplant phase have the role of preventing rejection, but they have also side effects, with implications throughout the body, including the oral cavity. The aim of this paper is to make the dentist aware of the particularities and special needs of organ and bone marrow transplant patients, in the context of the general medical aspects, the specific medication and the necessity of an effective dental treatment, which can play an important part in these patients' lives.

Abstract: Abstract: - Modeling business processes is vital when improving or automating existing business processes, documenting processes properly or comparing business processes. In addition, it is necessary to evaluate the quality of a business process model through a set of quality metrics. One specific categorie of such metrics is coupling which measures the functional and informational dependencies between the tasks/processes in a business process model. Our contribution in this paper consists in adapting object oriented software coupling metrics for business process models. This adaptation is based on correspondences we establish between concepts of the Business Process Modeling Notation and object oriented concepts. The new adapted coupling metrics offer more information about the dependencies among processes and their tasks in terms of data and control. They can be used, for instances to evaluate the transferability effects of errors occurring in a particular task!

Abstract: The goal of this paper is to generate a laser pulse and to capture it by an image acquisition system. We use a confocal resonator to generate a laser pulse; then the generate light is focused in to an optical fiber using a lens; the light propagates through the fiber and at the fiber output light is projected on a CMOS sensor. We compute the PSF (point spread function) and MTF (modulation transfer function) in order to characterize the functionality of the lens and the optical part of a CMOS sensor. We analyze the CMOS electrical part considering the photon shot noise and the FPN (fixed pattern noise). Finally, we use a Lapacian filter, an amplitude filter and a bilateral filter in order to reconstruct the noisy blurred image. We consider the image capture system to be linear shift invariant, axial and the light is orthogonal to the system.

Abstract: Abstract: - As the information age arrives and the internet network has very popular day by day. Internet network has already become quite important activity in people's daily life. The research shows that there are more than 650 million non- repeating users shop on line, including shopping center websites and sub channel. According to network auction and relevant literature of network marketing, the behavior that consumers adopted the network platform and e-shopping has been common in recent years. This paper focuses on the interactive qualitative at online shopping behaviours, and in this study, the research purposes are as follows: First, by the transaction costs theory to probes into users¡¦ attitude of online shopping behaviors to influence users¡¦ using wills. Second, with IQA, focus group deeply interview, probes into the real demands of e-shoppers. Third, carrying on the different ethnicities users and probing into its different attitude and using aspirati!
on. This research finds out the common experience in group's interview, and through affinity and theoretical coding. Finally, we find that the behavior of purchasing on line, there was a huge different between men and women. Girls think interface designing and security are important reasons to influence other factors. Men, then, think interfaces designing and after-sale service are more important. Based on the considered relation, women obviously have priority relation. Besides interface designing, groups have no connection. It is obviously men and women have loud difference to influence e-shopping behaviors.

Abstract: The efficiency evaluation and ranking is a sort of mu1tiple criteria decision-making (MCDM) problem involving several complex factors. Very often, using an MCDM method requires experts to express their opinions in terms of criterion weighting, according to their knowledge and experience. Among MCDM methods, Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) can perform the tasks of efficiency evaluation and ranking without previously having weighted the criteria, while Grey entropy can objectively uncover criterion weights with no need of additional information. Additionally, a robust efficiency evaluation or ranking system should not rely on single MCDM method, because different MCDM methods may produce dissimilar results together with disparate implications. This paper therefore proposes a hybrid solution for ranking the results of efficiency evaluations using DEA and Grey entropy.

Abstract: Information has the power to influence decisions. Every company ranking is a sort of information. There are a large number of company rankings which are regularly reported by the media around the world. Once ranked companies become celebrity firms, they may receive a great deal of attention from various stakeholders, including individual investors. The company ranking may offer useful information for individual investors in the process of choosing investment targets. However, the Enron scandal reveals that celebrity firms are not necessarily equal to promising investment targets. The kind of risk involved in basing decisions on a company ranking is in urgent need of reduction. To this end, this paper suggests a financial decision support solution for identifying company rankings. Abstract: Image Fusion is a process of combining the relevant information from a set of images, into a single image, wherein the resultant fused image will be more informative and complete than any of the input images. This paper discusses the implementation of three categories of image fusion algorithms – the basic fusion algorithms, the pyramid based algorithms and the basic DWT algorithms, developed as an Image Fusion Toolkit - ImFus, using Visual C++ 6.0. The objective of the paper is to assess the wide range of algorithms together, which is not found in the literature. The fused images were assessed using Structural Similarity Image Metric (SSIM) [10], Laplacian Mean Squared Error along with seven other simple image quality metrics that helped us measure the various image features; which were also implemented as part of the toolkit. The readings produced by the image quality metrics, based on the image quality of the fused images, were used to assess the algorithms. We !
used Pareto Optimization method to figure out the algorithm that consistently had the image quality metrics produce the best readings. An assessment of the quality of the fused images was additionally performed with the help of ten respondents based on their visual perception, to verify the results produced by the metric based assessment. Coincidentally, both the assessment methods matched in their raking of the algorithms. The Pareto Optimization method picked DWT with Haar fusion method as the one with the best image quality metrics readings. The result here was substantiated by the visual perception based method where it was inferred that fused images produced by DWT with Haar fusion method was marked the best 63.33% of times which was far better than any other algorithm. Both the methods also matched in assessing Morphological Pyramid method as producing fused images of inferior quality.

Abstract: The main goal of this paper is to compute the {\em maximal abelian dimension} of each solvable non-decomposable Lie algebra of dimension less than $7$. To do it, we apply an algorithmic method which goes ruling out non-valid maximal abelian dimensions until obtaining its exact value. Based on Mubarakzyanov and Turkowsky's classical classifications of solvable Lie algebras (see \cite{Mu} and \cite{Tur}) and the classification of $6$-dimensional nilpotent Lie algebras by Goze and Khakimdjanov \cite{Go-Kha}, we have explicitly computed the maximal abelian dimension for the algebras given in those classifications.

Abstract: – If a ring R is a nil-semiclean ring then the Jacobson radical of R J(R) is also nil and that if R is a nil-clean ring and the idempotents of R are centrals, then the Jacobson radical of R equals to the set of all nilpotents of R. These results were obtained in previous work by the authors. In this paper, we include work out examples and extend results on orthogonal idempotents elements in R. If e is central idempotent in R, then conditions for R to be nil-clean and nil-semiclean are justified. For a central idempotent element e of a ring R we show that If eRe and fRf are nil-clean rings then R is a nil-clean ring and if eRe and fRf are nil-semiclean rings then R is nil-semiclean ring. Finally, we proved that if R is a commutative ring then the polynomial ring R[x] is not nil-semiclean.

Abstract: It is well known that network traffic can be well modeled by the use of self-similar processes with parameter H. The use of this kind of traffic is important for the design and performance evaluation of high performance computer networks. Simulation plays a very important role in the context of performance analysis. In the context of simulation, however, the impact of the number of sources has not been sufficiently emphasized for the generation of synthetic self-similar traffic. In this paper we describe a simulation scenario suitable for the testing of performance issues under self-similar traffic. Our analysis was centered on the effect of traffic aggregation over the self-similarity degree, determining the necessary number of sources to approach the verified relation H = (3 − min )/2. Besides, we highlighted the performance of several Hurst parameters estimators for this type of simulation scenarios, identifying the most suited ones.

Abstract: Recently, there has been an increasing interest to improve the efficiency in election processes which has brought as a consequence a wide range of proposals for electronic voting. Electronic voting protocols are a reasonable alternative to conventional elections. Nevertheless, they are facing an evolution due to its requirements, especially the ones needed to provide full security considered to represent a democratic electronic vote. In the literature, different protocols based on public key schemes have been proposed to meet such security requirements. In this paper, we propose the use of bilinear pairings in order to provide the security requirements that an electronic voting protocol must meet, without requiring the entire infrastructure needed in a public key scheme. Proposed protocol considers two cryptographic primitives as main building blocks: threshold and blind signature schemes. It is divided in four main stages: set-up, authentication, voting and counti!
ng. Moreover, it meets privacy, accuracy and robustness by using bilinear pairings. We make a comparative analysis, which is based on its performance and the key pairs, Trust and Certification Authorities it requires.

Abstract: Several simulation and measurement studies have reported the well-known network traffic self-similarity and long-range dependency and the consequences for network performance. In the context of simulation, however, the impact of the number of sources has not been sufficiently emphasized for the generation of synthetic self- similar traffic. In this paper we describe a simulation scenario suitable for the testing of performance issues under self-similar traffic. Our analysis was centered on the effect of traffic aggregation over the self-similarity degree, determining the necessary number of sources to approach the verified relation H = (3 − min α)/2. Besides, we highlighted the performance of several Hurst parameters estimators for this type of simulation scenarios, identify- ing the most suited ones.

Abstract: Laser detection and tracking of aircrafts based systems (LIDARs, LIgth Detection And Ranging systems) are emerging as a critical design trend in development of new generation ATM (Air Traffic Management) paradigms, of which they are the main innovations. A novel laser tracking technology (SKY-Scanner System) capable to detect and track of aircrafts up to at least 6 nautical miles from the Aerodrome Traffic Zone (ATZ) has been proposed. The proposed methodology is considered at the frontier of technological research but it represents the only realistic way to put solid basis for the fabrication of effective radar and lidar integrated systems for incorporation in new generation ATM paradigms. The present paper is mainly focused on the simulation software of the above mentioned system. The simulation software is necessary in order to predict the behavior that the system, which is currently under development, will have. The software consists of two modules: Sim-modu!
le and Scen-module, both integrated in a single software package. The Sim-module simulates the mechanical system, the interaction of the laser with atmosphere, and the reflection on the surface of the airplane. The Monte-Carlo method will be used in order to take into account of random variables involved in the system, for example noise, turbulence, and error in mechanical positioning system of the lidar. The Scen-module simulates a scenery in which one or more aircraft will move along trajectories the user will specify.

Abstract: Abstract: - Herein are presented in detail the tasks that were developed to carry out a project that had as aim updating and improving the perception system of a Pioneer 3-AT mobile robot to enhance its navigation control by means of a mechanical system to let a laser range finder scanning and acquiring 2.5D and 3D images of the robot's environment. The system developed is a mechanism that is able to put in start position and to tilt automatically a laser range finder LMS200 with high precision, because the range of repetitive accuracy is very important to get good images. This precision was obtained with the aid of different parts that work together and with the best performance into its correspondent area; electronic area (control and communication circuits), mechanical area (stepper motor and mechanical design) and informatics area (acquisition and data processing). The system was developed to be an inexpensive device, using the most common elements, as a Microc!

Abstract: The climate changes issue is probable the top priority concern of the governments of the most countries of the world. Rigid and drastic measures have to be taken by all nations in order to reduce the noxious gases emission to the atmosphere. This ambitious goal can be achieved by ruling the energy production, by having a much more sustainable industry and adopting a much more sustainable way of living by all of us. The building industry has also to adapt to these circumstances to make its contribution to achieve the above goal. Focusing on traditional building techniques which require simple technology and use natural and local building materials and, eventually, to adapt them for the present required quality standards may be a step to solve this problem. Half of the world`s population, 3 billion people approximately, on six continents, live or work in buildings constructed by earth based building materials. The fact that earth is natural, abundant and local result!
in an unexpressive amount of energy spending and noxious gases emission when it is used as a building material and, consequently, makes it undoubtedly much more ecological and economic when compared to the others building materials such as reinforced concrete or steel. In this context, the main objective of this research work is to give a contribution on the earth based building material properties and, in particular, for the development of adequate rehabilitation and strengthening techniques, based upon a biomimetic study focused on the andorinha-dos-beirais nest. A structural numerical model of a nest using a finite element computer analysis program was done in order to understand the structural behavior of this kind of natural structures. In order to identify a possible occurrence of a certain agglutination phenomenon during the building process of the nest by the birds, an experimental identification/characterization study of nest's material using samples taken in Vila!
Real area was carried out. The identification of the elementary chemi
cal and the mineralogical compositions of the material were done by the scanning electron microscopy/energy dispersive spectroscopy (SEM/EDS) and by the X-ray diffraction analysis, respectively. The identification/characterization of the organic composition was done using the colorimetric method, being the protein components detected by the biuret method and the polysaccharides/sugars components by the total sugar method. The identification of the type of polysaccharides/sugars and their amount was done by the anion-exchange chromatography method. In order to verify if the addition of polysaccharides/sugars into the nest's material results in an improvement of the mechanical properties, in particular, of its compressive strength, mechanical tests were carried out on cubic specimens, The results show that there is a strong possibility of the bird andorinha-dos-beirais adds a certain amount of glucose into the clay material during the building process of the nest, which may in!
crease the quality of this raw material. This result may be easily extrapolated for the building industry by mixing up a certain percentage of glucose obtained by an abundant plant or fruit with the earth resulting in this way in a better performance earth based building material.

In order to extract this information from the EMG signals recorded at low to moderate force levels, it is required to: i) identify the MUAPs composed by the EMG signal, ii) cluster the MUAPs with similar shapes, iii) extract the features of the MUAP clusters and iv) classify the MUAPs according to pathology. In this work, three techniques for segmentation of EMG signal are presented: i) segmentation by identifying the peaks of the MUAPs, ii) by finding the beginning extraction point (BEP) and ending extraction point (EEP) of MUAPs and iii) by using discrete wavelet transform (DWT). For the clustering of MUAPs, statistical pattern recognition technique based on euclidian distance is used. The autoregressive (AR) features of the clusters are computed and are given to a multi-clas!
s support vector machine (SVM) classifier for their classification. A total of 12 EMG signals obtained from 3 normal (NOR), 5 myopathic (MYO) and 4 motor neuron diseased (MND) subjects were analyzed. The success rate for the segmentation technique used peaks to extract MUAPs was highest (95.90%) and for the statistical pattern recognition technique was 93.13%. The classification accuracy of multi-class SVM with AR features was 100%.

Abstract: For enterprises, customer relationships have been commonly recognized as a critical factor to succeed their business. Effective customer relationships could help enterprises deliver services to customers based on their needs, preferences, or past transactions. This model however emphasizes on the use of customer information for benefiting enterprises; customers in contrast receive less information from enterprises. To address this issue, a new paradigm, namely Consumer Support Systems (CSS) is initiated to support effective information provision for customers to help on their decision making. In this paper, we present an ontology-based architecture for such a new CSS paradigm. The architecture starts from the identification of CSS characteristics, through the recognition of architectural components that support the realization of these issues, and finally ends with the specification of collaborations among architectural components to realize these issues. In partic!
ular, for those inherent integration issues in CSS, it imposes semantic ontologies on the specifications to facilitate integration among customers and enterprises. The architecture is modeled by UML and illustrated by a CSS for travel arrangement.

Abstract: Geographical Information System (GIS) technology integrates hardware, software and spatial data for capturing, storing, updating, managing, analyzing and displaying geographical data and phenomena. Spatiotemporal analysis of such phenomena is one of the major tasks of a GIS. In this paper, we use GIS for the modeling of the exposure to direct sun light in a rural road network. When a vehicle is moving towards the direction of the sun, drivers may experience temporary loss of vision. The main target is to build a system able to identify road sections at risk due to direct sun-light for a specific time period. The proposed methodology is based on the road network geometry, the relief of the study area under investigation (Digital Elevation Model – DEM) and the sun position. The hillshade creation function and various filtering techniques have been adopted. These techniques are based on the geometry of road segments in comparison to the sun position. The output of t!
his analysis is the identification of road network parts that appeared at risk for a specific time period. The proposed method is implemented in Santorini Island during summertime period. The results in this case study shows that a significant part (5% of the total road network length) of the road network is highly exposed to the risk under investigation during the summer. Additionally, the implementation of the proposed method for a long time period allows a dynamic modeling of the conditions under investigation, and the adoption of various preventing actions.

Abstract: The liberalization of global trade has placed Taiwanese companies under unprecedented competitive pressures. Hospital information system (HIS) implementation is generally an extremely challenging task in hospitals. In fact, nurses, physicians and other healthcare employees, working with the HIS, spend a lot of time each day in completing forms, reviewing medical examination results and handling administrative information. HIS outsourcing thus is increasingly important in securing competitive advantage for hospitals and reducing the cost of HIS implementation. Obviously, the quality of HIS outsourcing significantly affects user satisfaction, though a dissatisfied users frequently end their relationship with the company and discuss negative experiences with friends. Therefore, an empirical work is conducted to clarify the frequency of negative critical incidents to improve overall user satisfaction. According to the analytical results, the explanatory power of overa!
ll satisfaction is 7.6% for positive quality attributes of HIS, and 16.46% for the frequency of negative critical incidents related to HIS outsourcing.

Abstract: Broadband internet has spread quickly in today¡¦s electronic society. Traditionally, users have not been satisfied by the delivery of text, picture, and music files. Therefore, the digital contents service has been expanding, and has been changing the existence, such as the e-mail, chatting, e-news, Live TV and radio. The multimedia-on-demand (MoD) is one of the services based on the digital contents issue to develop the related technology. This study replicates and expands the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) from information and system quality perspective, named extended TAM to measure the user¡¦s behaviour intention in multimedia-on-demand. Data were gathered from 300 potential users of MoD. Structural equation modelling was used to analysis the responses. Analytical results indicated that the extended TAM to have a good fit to data. The predictive power of TAM and extended TAM for behaviour intention are both 83%. However, extended TAM has a higher predictive !
power for perceived usefulness (47%) and attitude (70%) than TAM (19% and 69%, respectively) in the context of MoD. This finding demonstrates that extended TAM in MoD only addresses the user¡¦s behaviour intention, but can also consider the information and system quality.

Abstract: A novel blocking matrix design technique is proposed for adaptive beamforming of microphone array based on the generalized sidelobe canceller (GSC) structure. The classical GSC presented by Griffiths and Jim suffers from desired signal cancellation problems due to the complicated acoustic environment. To overcome this issue, this work utilizes the pseudo-inverse property of matched filter array and subarray structure to design a new blocking matrix of the GSC. For practical implementation, matched filter ratios between microphone pairs are estimated, as compared with estimating matched filters from the sound source to each microphone. In addition, since most additive noises in signal are non-Gaussian, the adaptive filtering is applied to adaptive interference canceller to enhance the robustness to the system model dynamics. Simulation results are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.
