Abstract: The output power of photovoltaic (PV) module varies with module temperature, solar isolation and 1oad changes etc. In order to control the output power of single-phase grid-connected PV system according to the output power PV arrays, this paper presents a single-phase photovoltaic system that provides grid voltage support and Compensation of harmonic distortion at the point of common coupling (PCC) with fuzzy controller. The output power provided by the PV panels is controlled by a Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) algorithm based on the incremental conductance method specifically modified to control the phase of the PV inverter voltage. A control circuit is developed and the performance of the control circuit is investigated in MATLAB-SIMLINK. The matlab simulation results show that, the proposed method has good performance.

Abstract: Radiofrequency identification is an emerging and promising technology for the identification of individuals and goods: the automation of manual operation, rapidity, precise information... the are many RFID technologies. In this article, we are interested in the passive UHF RFID technology and especially to the calculation of parameters of spirals rectangular antennas for RFID. First we present a model based on the theory of diffraction by fine wires, we arrive at an integro-differential equation, this equation can be solved by using the method of moments. Although this method gives us a very good agreement with the measure, it remains gourmand in calculation time. We then develop a method to simplify the calculation of the parameters of spiral antenna for RFID tag without resorting to numerical analysis methods. In high frequency, when resonances appear, we introduce the propagation using the Transmission Line Theory. Knowing that this theory doesn't take into acco!
unt neither common mode currents nor lateral tracks of the loops. Then we introduce some improvements on it. These improvements consist on the one hand to integrate common mode in this theory decomposing excitations and on the other hand to correct the positions and magnitudes of resonances by introducing lateral tracks of these loops. The results obtained in this study highlight interesting prospects for future studies.

Abstract: Goal of all instruments of international payment is to meet the practical needs of business people in the payment system and to unify their way of issuance, use and interpretation. The authors analyze the characteristics and functions of economic instruments of international payments in the economic reality, comparing them to each other. Methodological work is conceived in teleological comparison of instruments of international payments from theoretical aspects, and current legislation, national and international levels, as well as a review of their application in everyday business practice. Conclusions, which resulted in the landmark analysis of a specific macro-economic level, since they point to the legislature on the shortcomings of existing legal provisions, but also at the micro level through instructions for business people in selecting appropriate instruments of payment in individual cases, that will improve their operations. The authors point out the legis!

Abstract: Many manufacturers face cost-reduction and efficiency challenges in their manufacturing operations. To survive in today's highly competitive world, manufacturers need to find ways to reduce production time and costs in order to improve operating performance and product quality. Nowadays, targets of an increased productivity, operational availability and better overall efficiency of the production line are the most important goals for almost all manufacturing companies. The main objective of this study is to improve battery assembly line setup time and at the same time reduce the manufacturing costs. The specific objectives of the study are firstly to reduce setup time; secondly to identify existing and expected problems and implement and identify potential process improvements in the assembly line and thirdly to measure setup time reduction performance in terms of time and cost, productivity, quality and operational availability and flexibility. The result shows th!
at this study has achieved more than the target 35% of setup time reduction. From setup time reduction, a total cost savings of RM168, 000 was achieved in assembly line A. Meanwhile the company level a total saving of RM1.11million was achieved for all assembly lines in Company X. Other various benefit also achieved from SMED implementation and this study also shows that tooling cost is not a major factor contributing to the increase in manufacturing costs for this company.

Abstract: Abstract: - This paper deals with the simulation of Thyristor controlled reactor (TCR) and GTO Controlled Series Capacitor (GCSC), an equipment for controlled series compensation of transmission systems. The paper also presents experimental results of a TCR and GCSC connected to a single-phase system. The experiments are carried out in the FACTS lab of electrical engineering department. The TCR system is simulated using MATLAB and the simulation results are presented. The power and control circuits are simulated. The current drawn by the TCR varies with the variation in the firing angle. Stepped variation of current can be obtained using thyristor switched reactor. The simulation results are compared with the theoretical and practical results. Harmonics and its impact on the system are presented. This paper also presents the GCSC, its main components, principal of operation, typical waveforms and main applications. Duality of the GCSC with the well known thyristor !
controlled reactor is also discussed in this paper.

Abstract: This paper presents an algorithm that detects certain objects in a moving image and extracts their features. We named this algorithm as the purification algorithm because it is also used for purifying the remains of detected objects and for saving each purified object as a separate image file. The algorithm is implemented on the Bi-i Cellular Vision System which is a Cellular Neural Network(CNN) Universal Machine. The CNN Universal Machine is known as the analogical array computer and it contains two processors which can work interactively with each other. These processors are the ACE16k that is the hardware implementation of CNNs and the Digital Signal Processor(DSP). The purification algorithm is implemented with two different applications. In the first application, all phases of the algorithm are implemented just on the DSP. In the second application, the morphological operations of the algorithm are performed on the ACE16k and all other operations are performed!
on the DSP. Therefore, in the latter one, the application is run in coordination with both the ACE16k processor and the DSP. The obtained results are evaluated in terms of the run-time of the purification algorithm to show the comparison of these applications. Experimental results show that the performance of the proposed algorithm is good.

Number of paper pages: 10
Abstract: The paper aims to investigate the relationship between unemployment rate and shadow economy with USA data using spline models. The shadow economy is estimated as percentage of official GDP, using MIMIC model. The size of the shadow economy as % of official GDP is estimated using a MIMIC model with four causal variables (taxes on corporate income, contributions for government social insurance, unemployment rate and self-employment) and two indicators (index of real GDP and civilian labour force participation rate). The size of the shadow economy (SE) is estimated to be decreasing over the last two decades. In order to evaluate the nature of the relationship between the two variables, we have estimated cubic B-spline, natural cubic B-spline and smoothing models.Using an F-test, we compare the smoothing spline to a global linear fit and the results indicate a sufficiently linear relationship. Finally, we have compared the local polynomial models with the spline model; !
the smoothing spline model closely matches the linearity between the size of the shadow economy and the unemployment rate. We extend the classical Okun law, in order to estimate the relationship between growth rate of official economy, unemployment rate and the size of the shadow economy. The results reveal a significant direct relationship between shadow economy and the unemployment rate and an indirect relation between shadow economy and growth of official sector.

Number of paper pages: 8
Abstract: The paper aims to analyze the main characteristics of employee motivation system in the Romanian companies using data collected from 402 individual employees. The results of the study reveal the fact that, in the present situation of economic crisis, a lot of Romanian people search for a job who offers them an income and job security. Therefore, the job stability occupies the first place in employee preferences followed by job type and wage offer. The vocational development and the job enrichment are also important for the Romanian employees. The results of the study do confirm the assumption that money is not everything in terms of work motivation, suggesting that managers need to focus more on non-financial incentives to better motivate employees. The Romanian employee looks both measly motivated and demotivated. The role of non-financial motivation is not yet wholly understood by the Romanian employers, stipulating a term of 5 years, in which the non-financial m!
otivation will become a current practice in Romania.

Abstract: The paper aims to apply Herzberg's two-factor theory to employee motivation in the Romanian companies. The proposed theory model was tested using data from 402 employees. The main purpose of the study is to determine empirically the motivator-hygiene factors that have a significant impact on the overall level of Romanian employee job satisfaction, using the technique of principal components analysis, in order to build a multinomial logistic regression model for the prediction of the job satisfaction behavior based on the component scores. The results show that a motivation-hygiene theory with three principal components (achievement, company policy and administration and interpersonal relationships) best explains the process of motivating employees. The study also indicates that achievement and the company policy have a significant impact on the overall level of employee job satisfaction, suggesting that managers need to focus more on these factors to better motiva!

Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to explore how people, automation, and complexity can be effectively and successfully integrated into a manufacturing enterprise information system. This exploration is required because various studies showed that manufacturing enterprise information integration faces complex organisational, technical, and social shortcomings. Based on the paper's qualitative findings supported by authorities, evidence, or logic, essentially, it is argued that automation and information systems should focus, incorporate, and assist human, and that wisdom of simplicity in order to control complexity should prevail against the attempt to develop complex systems that usually are a consequence of unnecessary requirements. This also leads to the need for a multi-perspective research approach for solving enterprise integration problems.

Abstract: This paper deals with 2D acoustic problem. In order to study this problem, a finite element enriched by a plane wave base is used. This work focus on two aspects. Firstly, the study of this element depending on the frequency. Secondly, the description of an analytic integration technique. Two examples are studied, the first resemble to car cavity and the second resemble to rectangular duct. A comparison between numerical results obtained by standard finite element and enriched finite element are done, for the first one. And, for the second example, a comparison between numerical results obtained by the use of enriched finite element and analytic results are presented. With this work, the results found show that the performance of the enriched finite element increases while increasing the frequency, in the same way for the analytic integration.

The capability of an ARMAX model to reproduce vehicle kinematics was examined. Regressive model parameters were established by minimizing a weighted sum of squares of prediction errors. The prediction horizon was assigned to evaluate model's robustness and verify its time series data forecasting performance. It was found that the ARMAX model does not only reproduce the signal which was used for its establishment (i.e. real vehicle's acceleration) but it predicts another signal as well (i.e. virtual vehicle's acceleration). Moreover, such estimation technique preserves all characteristic information relevant for a given collision, since integration of the estimated acceleration pulse yields plots of velocity and displacement which closely follow the reference ones.

Abstract: In this paper, the spatial property of the magneto-static field generated by the stable current is discussed and exploited in image analysis. The region-division feature of the magnetic field generated by a current element on 2D plane is investigated experimentally for some simple test images. The virtual edge current in gray-scale images is presented by a magneto-static analogy, which is composed of the tangent edge vectors as a discrete form of the physical current element. The virtual magnetic field generated by the edge current in digital images is investigated experimentally, which is applied in region border detection and region division. A novel image segmentation method is proposed based on the virtual magnetic field generated by the edge current. The experimental results prove the effectiveness of the proposed method, and also indicate the promising application of the physics-inspired methods in image processing tasks.

Abstract: The paper presents an architecture for multimodal mood-based annotation systems. The architecture aims at the implementation of interactive multimodal systems to support communities of users in the creation and management of annotations in locative media projects. The annotations are multimodal in that they can be created and accessed through visual and audio interaction. The annotations are mood-based in that they reflect the mood of the user respect to the point of interest s/he is commenting. The paper presents a definition of multimodal mood-based annotation and a description of the architecture, illustrating in particular the interaction process between users and systems through the audio interface. A concrete application of the architecture is presented: an annotative locative media project aimed at supporting tourists in creating annotations related to the Valchiavenna valley in Italy.

Abstract: Iterative learning control (ILC) is used to control systems that operate in a repetitive mode, improving tracking accuracy of the control by transferring data from one repetition of a task, to the next. In this paper an optimal iterative learning algorithm for discrete linear systems is designed and implemented. The design and implementation that have been done using Matlab® 7 and Simulink are described in detail. The algorithm is applied on several representative discrete systems cases in order to be evaluated and to reveal its capabilities and limitations.

Abstract: The class D amplifier is well known in audio applications since a few ten years. The MOS transistors switching power stage is able to drive a useful power up to 500W to the loud speaker with an excellent power ratio (greater than 90%). Designing such an amplifier is obviously more difficult than designing a classical class A or AB power amplifier. Unfortunately, only mathematical and very complex theoretical approaches are found in the scientific literature. So, we present here a simple and concrete method for students and young designers to design a sigma delta class D amplifier as easily as possible. The experimental results are given to illustrate the design method. Finally, we explain how we exported this work towards pedagogical application and practical lessons for our engineer students.

Abstract: Importance of reliable telecommunication is constantly increasing. A new multichannel data communication concept presented in this paper, provides a uniform way to communicate over virtually any type of communications media in such a way that multiple, sometimes parallel communication paths appear as a single robust, uninterruptable, secure and reliable communication link between communicating peers. The solution named DSiP (Distributed Systems intercommunication Protocol) makes it possible to distribute all telecommunication among several operators and methods, resulting in a true multichannel communication system. The DSiP-multichannel routing solution increases reliability, security and integrity in telecommunication and allows regular communication methods to be used in mission critical telemetry systems. This is achieved by splitting risks between operators and communication channels; better routing and priority capabilities; taking security and intrusion risk!
s into account; and adding modularity.

Abstract: In Japan, due to the public resistance of the nuclear power plants, the general trend becomes to generate power by using the coal. This means that huge amount of fly ash will be accumulated in the power plants due to the lack of safe reclamation sites. Accordingly. This paper presents an experimental study aiming at the evaluation of the adsorption characteristics of fly ash when used as a filter medium in places where the groundwater is likely to be polluted. For this purpose some of the most harmful chemicals was allowed to pass through a fly ash packed column at different lengths with the aid of micro pump that can regulate the volume discharged in specific intervals of time. The harmful chemicals used in this research were Mercury, Sodium cyanide, Tetrachloroethylene and trichloroethylene. After analyzing the out come of these harmful chemicals results have shown that the fly ash is a good adsorbent and can decrease the concentration of the chemicals to some ac!

Abstract: The improvement of pedestrian safety, mobility and convenience is an important step for the promotion of sustainable mobility in urban areas. This study presents the grading process and walkability score of the pedestrian urban environment of six selected roads in the city of Volos, Greece. The roads were characterized as main, collector or local urban arterials, located inside or close to the center of the city. Four suitably trained auditors walked across the streets and using a questionnaire graded independently the pedestrian urban road environment features in each road segment and crosswalk. The auditors' team included three undergraduate students as the team members and a PhD candidate as the team leader. The questionnaire included 9 questions for the road segments and 6 questions for the crosswalks. The rating scale varied between 1 (awful) and 5 (very good) score. We calculated the average score of each question for the road segments and crosswalks across e!
ach street. Furthermore, we calculated the walkability score for each road segment and crosswalk and as an average the total walkability score of each street. The innovation of our study was that we graded separately the walkability features of each road segment and crosswalk, concluding to a total walkability score of a street as a synthesis of the auditors' grades.

Abstract: This study examines the bicyclists' braking profile on four typical pavement types in the urban road environment: asphalt, concrete plate, concrete bricks and thermoplastic material. The experiment took place in the city of Volos, Greece, in a pedestrian area provided with a bikeway across the port, under good weather conditions. Five volunteer bicyclists, men and women of different physical weight took part in the experiment, riding a brand new city bike. The experiment was conducted with the use of state of the art equipment: VBOX (Racelogic, UK) that could trace the bicyclists' movement and collect data of position, speed etc using GPS signal. Each participant accelerated the bike on 15km/hr or 20km/hr, kept the speed steady riding the bike in straight line and then applied the brakes with maximum force until the bike stops. This test was revised for each pavement type. After the data analysis, we estimated the braking time and distance for each pavement type fo!
r the two speed levels according to the bicyclists' weight. Finally, we concluded that the shortest braking distance was noticed on the pavement made from asphalt. Furthermore, we concluded that a 5km/hr rise of bicyclists' speed resulted to a much longer braking distance.

Abstract: The issue of environmental protection and biodiversity conservation in the catchment of Prut river has both environmental and geopolitical implications due to the geographic position. This paper summarizes a large amount of information which constitutes the basis of documenting a report aimed at arranging a pilot wetlands area to protect biodiversity in the southern basin of Prut river. Premises are represented by the natural elements that support the development of sub-basin Horincea as pilot wetland basin in the Lower Prut sector (the conditions of relief, climate and hydrological features, flora and fauna composition, focusing on ichtyofauna). The advantages and threats regarding the development of these wetlands are presented based on legislative criteria as well as from the point of view of the exploitation of natural resources in this basin. There are presented both tehnical and institutional solutions. The institutional decision makers are identified a!
s the two relevant ministries (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Ministry of Environment and Forests), two national companies (Romanian Waters National Company and Romsilva National Company) and entities within the general jurisdiction of the local authorities. The responsibilities of each of the above and the types of action required to fulfil the objective are presented further in this paper.

Abstract: The evolutionary learning algorithm called particle swarm optimization (PSO) is developed in this paper. The image model of the embedded mobile robot is automatically generated with the omni-directional image concept to approach toward the behavior of the embedded mobile robot. The circumvolutory environment is dynamically captured from the head of the mobile robot, which will directly be transformed into the Cartesian coordinate system. The required parameters of fuzzy rules are automatically extracted with the guide of the flexible fitness function, which is efficiently approach toward the multiple objectives of avoiding obstacles, selecting favorable fuzzy rules to drive the desired targets at the same time. Three illustrated examples with various initial positions for the discussed environment map containing different blocks size and locations are illustrated the efficiency of the PSO leaning algorithm. Simulations demonstrate that the proposed mobile robot wit!

Abstract: Abstract:-Multicore architecture otherwise called as SoC consists of large number of processors packed together on a single chip uses hyper threading technology. This increase in processor core brings new advancements in simultaneous and parallel computing. Apart from enormous performance enhancement, this multicore platform adds lot of challenges to the critical task execution on the processor cores, which is a crucial part from the operating system scheduling point of view. In this paper we combine the AMAS theory of multiagent system with the affinity based processor scheduling and this will be best suited for critical task execution on multicore platforms. This hard-soft processor affinity scheduling algorithm promises in minimizing the average waiting time of the non critical tasks in the centralized queue and avoids the context switching of critical tasks. That is we assign hard affinity for critical tasks and soft affinity for non critical tasks. The algorit!
hm is applicable for the system that consists of both critical and non critical tasks in the ready queue. Since we use the actual round robin scheduling for non critical tasks and due to soft affinity the load balancing is done automatically for non critical tasks. We actually modified and simulated the linux 2.6.11 kernel process scheduler to incorporate this scheduling concept. Our result shows the maximum cpu utilization for the non critical tasks and high throughput for the critical tasks.

Abstract: This paper studies properties of a continuum with structure. The characteristic size of the structure governs the fact that difference relations do not automatically transform into differential ones [1]. It is impossible to consider an infinitesimal volume of a body, to which we could apply the major conservation laws, because the minimal representative volume of the body must contain at least a few elementary microstructures. The corresponding equations of motions are the equations of infinite order, solutions of which include, along with sound waves, the unusual waves propagating with abnormal low velocities, not bounded below. It is shown that in such media weak perturbations can increase or decrease outside the limits. The variance of structure sizes plays a double role. The intensity of instabilities decreases due to dispersion, thereby stabilizing the media, while the frequency range of unstable solutions expands, and disasters can occur at very low frequenci!
es. The equation of equilibrium is not satisfied at any point in the medium. It is true only at an average. Hence there is a possibility to have a lot of micro-dynamic acts, in spite of static macroscopic state in average. This paper describes some of the conditions under which the possible occurrence of usual wave motion in media in the presence of certain dynamic phenomena. The number of complex roots of the corresponding dispersion equation, which can be interpreted as the number of unstable solutions, depends on the specific surface cracks and is an almost linear dependence on a logarithmic scale, as in the seismological law of Gutenberg-Richter.

Abstract: Recently, coherent optical OFDM (CO-OFDM) has been proposed for optical networks to combat chromatic dispersion. CO-OFDM system has been successfully processed and recovered for transmitted signals without optical chromatic dispersion compensation. However, in optical links, the available optical power is limited due to fiber nonlinearity, and power consumption. As previously reported, we focused on the minimizing the optical power and have proposed CO-OFDM with punctured LDPC codes and variable amplitude block codes to overcome the above-mentioned problems. In this paper, we focus on the implementation of the proposed CO-OFDM and evaluate the influence of laser linewidth and modulation level for coherent optical OFDM with punctured LDPC codes.

Abstract: Today, the integration of information systems has become a necessity due to the fact that the big companies have developed over time, mostly, separate information systems (which do not communicate between them) for the automation of different activities. If in the beginning the "situation" seemed to be under control, the boost in the number of customers, products, suppliers, etc. brought about an acutely increasing need for the companies' information systems to communicate with each other. Also, in its turn, the current economic crisis has increased the necessity to integrate the information systems within a company, thus simplifying any means of controlling the business. That is why in this paper we submit to your attention some types of information systems used by companies (Enterprise Resource Planning - ERP, Customer Relationship Management - CRM, Supply Chain Management - SCM) as well as possible ways of integrating these systems (integration through business !
processes and services). On the other hand, systems integration also implies integration of the data handled by these systems, so we will consider also some ways of data integration (databases, data warehouses) by means of technologies such as Oracle GoldenGate. Finally, we will describe a technique for testing, the integrated operation of a software product, more precisely, an integrated type of testing: Pairwise, a powerful testing technique.
