Abstract: In this article, we construct the exact solutions of the (2+1)-dimensional nonlinear Boussinesq-Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equation and the (1+1)-dimensional nonlinear heat conduction equation using an improved mapping approach and variable separation method. By means of this method, new types of variable separation solutions including solitary wave solutions, periodic wave solutions and rational function solutions are successfully obtained. This method can be applied to other higher-dimensional nonlinear evolution equations.
