Abstract: The real time production information is an invaluable resource for industrial. Analyzing this production information enable management identifying the various faults at the production shop floor and immediately rectifies them in order to improve the production efficiency. However, the accuracy of the captured data has been one of the concerns in the industrial. Using the manufacturing data management system (MDaS), the management can overcome all the human made error and have an accurate data management system through the production process. In this system, both production time and non production time will be captured for detail analysis using programmable logic controller without human intervention, thus the truthfulness of the collected data is reliable. The collected data will be stored, analyzed using overall equipment efficiency (OEE) and documented in custom build software. Such a system will be a significant tool for the management in decision improvement pr!
ocess in any nature of production lines. This paper presents the benefits and the usefulness of the MDaS for production lines.

Abstract: A generalized trigonometric-quadratic functional equation of the form F(x + y) - G(x - y) = 2H(x)K(y) + L(x) + M(y) over the domain of an abelian group and the range of the complex field is considered. Its stability is established based on the assumption that the function K is unbounded. Subject to certain natural conditions, explicit shapes of the functions H and K are determined. Several existing related results are derived as direct consequences.

Abstract: In the paper a new approach to a design of fuzzy controllers is proposed, based on an automatic selection of membership functions shapes. The automatization is achieved by optimization using a genetic algorithm relative to a chosen system performance criterion. The software system for fuzzy controll of the cart-ball system is also described. The described system is developed in such a way that modules are added to the previously existing system. Added modules are used for membership functions shapes optimization. Experimental results from experiments with the systems are given, some of them are improvements of earlier results. Directions for possible further work are pointed out.

Abstract: This scientific work aims to contribute to the sustainable management of water resources in golf courses of arid and drought-prone regions of Mediterranean, through the evaluation of water demands, regarding to different ways of environmental and socio-economic development and water resources, and through examining the possibilities to reuse treated effluent as an alternative source for potable water. Its main objective is to reach the response of fairway turfgrass of golf courses to several levels of sprinkle irrigation water. Bermudagrass (Cynodon dactylon) was selected as the most common turfgrass used in the many golf courses of the Algarve (southern Portugal), where this water consumption is responsible, for the decreasing of the level of aquifers and of their salinity elevation. Sprinkle point source experimental design was used to simulate several water regimes, expressed by the crop coefficients. Irrigation water sources were well potable water and two trea!
ted wastewater origins. Standard crop coefficient Kc values were evaluated between 0.92 and 0.99, being non standard crop coefficient Ks values for good appearance (GA) of lawn grass, very similar and computed between 0.52 and 0.55. Thus, significant economy of water could be achieved, in golf courses, if Ks values are used related to GA, instead of the usual standard Kc. The yield of the three experimental lawns was determined for several values of the crop coefficient under non standard conditions, due to the management of the sprinkler point source experimental design Ka, between 0.2 and 1.6. On the other hand, it was shown that the quality of turfgrass was independent of salinity of irrigation water for levels of ECw lower than 2.1 dS m-1 to the studied turfgrass. As concluding remarks, as the principal objective is the quality of the turfgrass of the golf courses and not the yield, it was shown that it is possible to consider treated final effluents as an alternative d!
isposal to potable water, to be applied in golf courses. The applicati
on of wastewater in golf courses is important in terms of water and fertilization savings and represents a more correct environmental alternative to the dumping of this waste in the rivers, lakes and seaside, since all cares are taken.

Abstract: This paper describes the numerical model BOUSS-WMH (BOUSSinesq Wave Model for Harbours), a finite element model for nonlinear wave propagation near shore and into harbors. It is based upon an extended version of the Boussinesq equations to which terms were added to generate regular or irregular waves inside the numerical domain, absorb outgoing waves, partially reflect waves at physical boundaries, control numerical instabilities and reproduce energy dissipation due to bottom friction and wave breaking. The paper focuses on the implementation of partial reflection, bottom friction and wave breaking as well as on the model applications to experimental test cases. Results are compared with physical model tests and another numerical model.

Abstract: The extraction of the characteristic features of the speech is the important task in the speaker recognition process. One of the basic features is fundamental frequency of speaker's voice, which can be extracted from the voiced segment of the speech signal. This document describes one of the methods providing possibility to distinguish the voiced and surd segments of the voice signal using the autocorrelation, and compare the results to cepstral method.

Abstract: Improvements in mean flow and performances simulation in turbomachinery has brought research to focus more demanding topics like turbulence effects on turbines. Although overall performances are well predicted by Unsteady-RANS, other phenomena such as aerodynamic noise or transition need more accurate prediction of turbulent flow features. Thus different kinds of equation modeling other than URANS are needed to cope with this issue. The success of Detached-Eddy Simulation and Large-Eddy Simulation applications in reproducing physical behavior of flow turbulence is well documented in literature. Despite that, LES simulations are still computationally very expensive and their use for investigating industrial configurations requires a careful assessment of both numerical and closure modeling techniques. Moreover LES solvers are usually developed on a structured mesh topology for sake of simplicity of high-order schemes implementation. Application to complex geometries!
like those of turbomachinery is therefore difficult. The present work addresses this issue considering the feasibility of converting an operative in-house URANS solver, widely validated for applicative purposes, into higher resolution DES and LES, in order to face turbulence computation of turbomachinery technical cases. The solver presents a 3D unstructured finite-volume formulation, which is kept in LES approach in order to handle complex geometries and it is developed to perform unsteady simulations on turbine stages. Preliminary assessment of the solver has been performed to evaluate and improve the accuracy of the convective fluxes discretization on an inviscid bump test case. First a DES-based approach has been implemented, as it is less computationally challenging and numerically demanding than LES. A square cylinder test case has been assessed and compared with experiments. Then, a pure LES with a Smagorinsky sub-grid scale model has been evaluated on the test case!

lity of the solver to correctly sustain a time developing turbulent field.

Abstract: The majority of scientists believe the curve that describing trees growth has the s-shaped form. However, the works devoted to any concrete species aren't present in literature. In this work we try to describe some of the growth processes occurring in with help of mathematical apparatus. Scots pine was chosen as a subject of the study. In the first part of the work describes the process of growth microstrobiles on model trees, selected on the test area of a bog in a valley of the Iset river. The second part of the work is devoted to drawing up the imitating growth process model of a seedlings of the Scots pine which were measured throughout a week at one and the same time. As result of the researches new functions that help to describe a growth processes in the microstrobiles and sprouts of the Scots pine has been received.

Abstract: Plaque formation leading to stenosis and occlusion of arterial blood vessels cause altered flow conditions, such as separation and flow-reversal zones and plays an important role in the development of arterial diseases. Computational simulations of blood flow can help to understand the hemodynamics in blood vessels and to predict the outcomes of surgeries. The paper presents a three dimensional numerical method of steady and pulsatile blood flow simulation in arteries by the finite element method. In this study the biochemical and mechanical interactions between blood and vascular tissue are neglected and no-slip boundary conditions are considered at the artery wall. Velocity field is calculated by a mixed method using a smoothed desviatoric stress field in order to obtain an improvement of the finite element method performance. Stabilized finite element formulations to properly treat incompressible and high Reynolds number flows are presented. Velocity and wall sh!
ear stress fields are visualized for a better understanding of flow characteristics such as distributions of the flow pattern, stagnation flow and recirculation zones. Simulated results are compared and validated with literature data obtained from ultrasound measurements.

Abstract: Computer simulation of liquid fuel jet injection into heated atmosphere of combustion chamber, mixture formation, ignition and combustion need adequate modeling of evaporation, which is extremely important for the curved surfaces in the presence of strong heat and mass diffusion fluxes. Combustion of most widely spread hydrocarbon fuels takes place in a gas-phase regime. Thus, evaporation of fuel from the surface of droplets turns to be one of the limiting factors of the process as well. Abstract: The numerical algorithm for the decision of non-stationary two-dimensional problems of dynamics of compressible multi phase media is developed on the base of the method of particles in cells. With the purpose of elimination of non-physical fluctuations of the numerical decision inherent in methods of this type, there are offered method of integration of the equation of mass conservation and procedure of determination of pressure in nodes of numerical grid. On the base of algorithm some examples of modeling were executed: propagation of gas detonation with cellular structure in tube, explosion in a planet interiors and bubble detonation.

Abstract: Face recognition plays a major role in security applications like access control, real time video surveillance systems and robotics. There are numerous face recognition algorithms proposed by researchers. In this paper, different existing well-known algorithms such as Fisherface, Elastic Graph Matching (EGM), Support Vector Machine (SVM), Neural Network have been discussed, also improved Principal Component Analysis (PCA) recognition method has been implemented for face recognition. The PCA recognition method has been applied on standard databases (ORL and Cropped YALE database) and a new set of Face Database. A comparative analysis of PCA algorithm with ORL Face Database and YALE Face Database has been done and it was found that the recognition rate with ORL Face Database is better than Cropped YALE Face Database.

It is common to position traffic lights on a certain road intersections, pedestrian crossings and other locations to control competing flows of traffic in order to enhance the smoothness of traffic flow. Traffic lights have been installed in most cities around the world regardless of different standards set by the local authorities. Traffic light controllers is programmed to assign timely directions for road users by demand in the form of colors which is Red, Amber and Green. Even though traffic lights are known as the best device in controlling traffic flow for road users, yet accidents reported at the traffic junction is very common. There are 2 methods in controlling the traffic light system placed on a certain junction. The most common one is the sequencing method, whereby the traffic light system is designed to operate !
according to the preprogrammed sequence without any consideration of real time behavior. The second method is the demand based controller which response to the preprogrammed timer based on real time sensor detection on a certain road junction. With both method widely used around the world, surety on traffic flow smoothness is not established. When authorities talk about efficiency and accuracy on real time traffic flow control, there are always room for further enhancement especially on the controlling and sensing method. In the afford to provide a solution for such miseries, a novel implementation of sensing method which will be incorporated with self conditioning program will be a practical solution. The new sensing method is capable of counting the total number of vehicles entering a certain junction and exiting from a certain junction on real time basis. Based on this detection, the programmable logic controller will trigger the traffic light indicators according to re!

Abstract: Lattice-Boltzmann method (LBM) has been alternatively used to numerically simulate mass transfer in porous media. Supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) and biospecific affinity chromatography (BAC) are fixed-bed processes that may benefit from LBM as their model frameworks are very similar. By allowing the species concentration in the fluid phase to vary both in time and along the bed axis, this work has simplified SFE and BAC models in order to obtain an identical governing partial differential equation (PDE). Cast in dimensionless form, such mutual PDE was numerically solved through either LBM or finite-differences method (FDM). As far as false diffusion is concerned, numerical simulations were compared and results encourage the use of LBM as a simulation tool to investigate either SFE or BAC processes.

Abstract: L-System is a very useful tool in plant modeling and most of the researchs in this area have been focusing around the many aspects of these methods in improving the L-Systems algorithm in order to mimic the real biological plant development. There are also interests in rendering music from plant modeling using L-Systems grammar. However, the biggest problem here is that the tools available for L-System modeling are biased towards the researchers and programmers with strong background in programming as well as L-Systems. So, the main focus of this paper is in implementing a simple and yet a useful visual music rendering tool which can be fully utilised by non-researchers, non-programmers and also non-experts in L-System and music rendering for rapid generation of musical sound and modeling of plants. The constraints interpreting plant to music and vice versa has been overcome to an extent that any interested individuals who are interested in music rendering as well!
as plant modeling can easily apply the visual language tool even though one has no experience in music or L-Systems. This visual tool is in the form of icon-based L-system attributes and grammars which are capable of mapping the music sound and the plant structures.

The homeostatic neuron is based on McCulloch-Pitts model of artificial neuron with some modifications. The basic requirements for this model is the simplicity and similarity to biological neuron. It is supposed that the neuron is able to maintain its parameters in a way that maximizes its chances to survive. The probability of survival in the neural network depends on how well is accepted the output by other neurons. The homeostatic neurons form a neural network, that is aimed to model biological neural network. The purpose of this network is not to perform any specific task (such as prediction) but to simulate processes in human brain, e. g. the loss of attention.

This paper describes the techniques and implementation of the virtual shadow puppet play that produces real time simulation of shadow image using OpenGL. Besides, the novelty of this work is that it allows interactive real time animation of virtual shadow puppet play by applying both the texture mapping and the blending technique in the implementation of the shadow image and special effects. The integration of these methods gives the special lighting effects that are vital for the quality improvement of the traditional shadow puppet play. In addition, the use of geometric transformations and hierarchical modeling facilitates interaction among the different parts of the puppet during the animation. Abstract: Speech is the most important and primary mode of communication among human being and also the most natural and efficient form of exchanging information among humans. Various fields for research in speech processing are Speech Recognition, Speaker Recognition, Speech Synthesis, Speech Coding etc. This paper presents a detailed study of text-dependent Speaker and Speech Recognition system. Speaker recognition system uses vector quantization (VQ) as the modeling technique and the features of the speech signal are extracted using Mel Frequency Cepstum Coefficients (MFCC). K-means clustering algorithm has been used to obtain the vector quantized codebook. For speaker-independent Speech recognition system, the formant frequencies of the word sample are used to determine the unknown word. Speaker recognition system yields highest accuracy using Hanning window and Mel perceptual feature extraction realized with 35 filter bank. Accuracy also improves as the number of vector!
s in the VQ codebook is increased from 64 to 100 whereas for Speech recognition highest accuracy obtained is 95%.

Abstract: This paper proposes a mathematical model of heat transfer in the cemented hip replacement using the metal-metal implant with no cup. Computational domain consists of three subregions including a femur region, an implant region and a femoral canal region. The femoral region is divided into two parts which are the top and the bottom parts occupied by the cement and the ambient air. The governing equation is a unsteady heat equation. Heat transfer by conduction is considered in this study. Finite element formula for the solution of heat transfer problem is derived. Effect of the initial temperature of the cement and the implant material on heat transfer process are investigated. Numerical results show that the initial temperature has significant effect whereas the implant materials has less effect.

Abstract: Abstract— Thr geothermal energy is well known as a renewable and clean energy. A step to understand and to estimete the geothermal energy is by using a reservoir modeling development. In this study, a mathematical and numerical modeling are performed to simulate a geothermal reservoir with injection and production well attached in the reservoir. Mathematical modeling performed obeys a Darcy's law, mass balance, energy balance, and also applying the finite difference method to get the model for the entire reservoir system. Numerical modeling is also performed in this study for calculating the variables. The results that obtained in this study are the distribution of temperature, pressure, enthalpy and fluid flow direction in the reservoir. These results will provide many information in the future. We can hope that a reservoir is expected to be designed with an appropriate management system.

Abstract: Decision making processes during biological incident management represent challenging and demanding as well as complex and important task. Various principles such as partial differential equations or Markov chains have been already utilized for the model development. Nevertheless, the multi-agent technologies can be also effectively employed. As an example, this paper presents model utilizable for the management of biological incidents created in the multi-agent NetLogo environment. The main contribution to the scientific field includes the characterization of specifics related to discussed type of decision-making process. Moreover, within the paper the description of the simulation model is provided, parameterization is explained, and areas for further research are outlined.

Abstract: In this paper we present the first ecoepidemic model with two disease strains in the same population, specifically in the predators. We present two models, in the first one of which the epidemics transmits only horizontally. The second one is more general, since it allows also vertical transmission of the disease, i.e. offsprings of infected parents also carry the disease. Answers to relevant biological questions are analysed. Surprisingly however, this ecoepidemic system with two strains cannot be sustained at a stable equilibrium level.

Abstract: The conditions governing the collapse of a "Leidenfrost drop", e.g. a liquid drop supported by a vapour film on a heated surface was studied analytically. Robust analytical model for the phenomenon has been developed and numerical simulation has been done. The model was represented by two second-order non-linear differential equations for the radius of evaporating drop and its distance over the heated surface. The results obtained have shown the high-frequent oscillations of the drop over the hot plate until complete evaporation of the drop occurs. In contrast with existing precise complex models, the mathematical model developed was simple and could be used for the qualitative estimation of different parameters and quantitative estimation of the integral behaviours of the drop such as time for complete drop evaporation. Abstract: A low cost, black nickel solar absorber coating used in thermal solar collectors on nanostructured highly thermal conductive copper was analyzed using XPS (X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy) and MFM (magnetic force microscopy) techniques. Copper substrate nanostructuration was realized by electrochemical polishment to improve MFM analysis. Black nickel solar absorber coating was electrodeposited on nanostructured C81100 copper due to their good optical properties and low cost. XPS results after 15 minutes of sputtering identified black nickel as a Cermet mainly composed of two metallic nickel atoms for each nickel and zinc sulfide, i.e. 2 Ni: NiS: ZnS and traces of thiocyanate. The MFM black nickel lock-in-phase 5 x 5 square micrometer image presents a estimate mean diameter particle size in of (27 ± 12) nm and mode diameter particle size of (5 ± 12) nm. This nanometric particle was attributed to the ferromagnetic metallic nickel found in XPS analysis. Thus, MFM val!
idated that black nickel solar absorber coating is a nanometric graded cermet of NiS-ZnS with 13 % of metallic nickel nanoparticles by chemical composition of XPS results and MFM.

XPS results after 15 minutes of sputtering identified black nickel as a Cermet mainly composed of two metallic nickel atoms for each nickel and zinc sulfide, i.e. 2 Ni: NiS: ZnS and traces of thiocyanate. The MFM black nickel lock-in-phase 5 x 5 square micrometer image presents a estimate mean diameter particle size in of (27 ± 12) nm and mode diameter particle size of (5 ± 12) nm. This nanometric particle was attributed to the ferromagnetic metallic nickel found in XPS analysis. Thus, MFM val!
idated that black nickel solar absorber coating is a nanometric graded cermet of NiS-ZnS with 13 % of metallic nickel nanoparticles by chemical composition of XPS results and MFM.

Abstract: Man has a limited ability to accurately and continuously analyse large amounts of data. In recent years, there has been a rapid growth in patient monitoring and medical data analysis using decision support systems, smart alarm monitoring, expert systems and many other computer aided protocols. The main goals of this study are to enhance the developed diagnostic alarm system for detecting critical events during anaesthesia and to accurately diagnose a hypovolaemia event in anaesthetized patients. The performance of the proposed diagnostic system, fuzzy logic monitoring system-2 (FLMS-2), was validated through a series of off-line tests. When detecting hypovolaemia a substantial level of agreement was observed between FLMS-2 and the human expert and it is shown that system has a better performance with sensitivity of 94%, specificity of 90% and predictability of 72%.

Abstract: In this paper, we propose an SEIQR-SIS epidemic network model to study pandemic influenza and derive the approximate threshold condition (basis reproductive number) to examine the stability of the model. The numerical simulation of the disease transmission in the adaptive social network with people nodes and hub nodes is presented. The network parameters including visiting probability, hub radius and contact radius are used to investigate their impacts on the disease transmission. Our results show that these network parameters have a significant effect on the disease spread.

Abstract: Many applications have been developed in various government departments, aimed at providing and enhancing delivery of services to citizens, businesses, and organizations. However, little work has been done in building a knowledge base on ontologies that facilitate communication between stakeholders and that identify the processes and describe the data of these applications. This paper focuses on developing prototype architecture for intelligent decision support systems that can help top political decision-makers. The system is intended to be used to strengthen bilateral economic relationships between nations. Typically, decisions are influenced by certain factors and variables that are based on heterogeneous and vague information. A commons language is thus needed to describe such information, which requires human knowledge for interpretation. In this research, we propose to use an ontology to integrate vague information from the political and investment domains. T!
he process will begin with the extraction of key concepts and relationships between sets of information, and proceed to integrate fuzzy logic with ontology. The ontology includes information about important concepts in each domain. We will present a case study that contains clear concepts for the political and investment domains, the Object Paradigm ontology (OP) for each concept will be presented in order to capture a high level of knowledge to facilitate the work of decision-makers in the decision-making process of the political field. To build our ontology, we will use the Protégé-OWL editor. In this paper we will present the Ontology for the domain of bilateral economic relationships and demonstrate how using this Ontology we can obtain more suitable solution to solve the uncertainty and reasoning problems in this intelligent decision support system. The intended users are the top political decision-makers.
