Abstract: The fast increase of complexity of modern construction processes has brought along the need for better assessment of the efficiency of resource management strategies in construction. The purpose of selection the resource strategies is to achieve the best possible outcomes in construction practice. The efficiency of construction processes and the behaviour of real systems can be forecasted via simulation modelling. This paper is part of a study prepared in the Tallinn University of Technology and provides an overview of the key issues regarding the modelling of management strategies of construction subcontracting. Main aspects reviewed in this study are: the right sequence of construction works, their placement in time schedule and correlation of the works either with own labour or by subcontracting. The paper focuses on factors which influence construction process and sets out the initial conditions and a draft for further activities of simulation modelling.
