Abstract: UPFC is one of the FACTS devices that it is used for power flow control and voltage stabilizing. UPFC has four control loops that with adding an extra signal to one of the control loops dynamic stability is increased and load angle oscillations are damped. It is usually used from speed duration of synchronous generator as input signal for designing damping controllers. In this paper, it has been used from state-space equations for designing damping controller and it has been considered influences of active and reactive power flow durations as input of damping controller. For stability increasing, in addition to Lead-Lag and LQR controllers adaptive controller has been used that it is able to identify power system parameters. The simulation results obviously show appropriate application of adaptive controller for decreasing rotor speed oscillations against perturbations such as input mechanical torque.
