Abstract: A characteristic of patients with soft tissue sarcomas and osteosarcoma is the aggressive tendency of invasion of the surrounding tissue and precocious hematogenous dissemination, mostly within the lung. Metastases are incurable despite the currently available advanced therapies. We conducted a survey from January 2000 to December 2005 on patients with osteosarcomas (OS) and soft tissue sarcomas (STS)admitted in Cluj-Napoca Oncology Institute and "Leon Daniello" Pneumology Clinical Hospital. We introduced in the study patients diagnosed with sarcomas and pulmonary metastases, we analyzed risk factor and evolution of the diseases with survival function calculated since cancer diagnosis, and the other calculated since pulmonary metastases. Average age of the patients is 24,58 years for osteosarcomas and 48,04 for soft tissueand and did not influence the survival ((p=0,3734 for OS respectivly p=0,450 for STS) .Gender was not pronostic factor (p=0,984 for OS and !
p=0,121 for STS), urban areas was significant statistic for survival before the pulmonary metastases p=0,219 and not significant for survival after the apparition of metastases p=0,366.; time between the first symptoms and the doctor' presentation (more than 1 year) was significant statistic in both survival (p=0.002 ).Tumor localization (for OS p=0,1136 and for STS p=0,3597) primary tumor size STS p=0,040 and p=0,0303 for OS, type of metastases ( for OS p=0,3597, and for STS p =0,283) were analyzed like risk factor for survival . Serum LDH was poor pronostic factor for osteosarcomas for both survivals (p=0,0245 and p=0,0090) but not for soft tissue sarcomas (p=0,236). Performance status, type of metastases, good risk class, response at the treatment influence the survival calculated from tumor diagnosis and the survival calculated from the moment of lung metastases.
