Abstract: The aim of this article is to propose three different solutions to stabilise the four DC input voltages of a Five-level Neutral Point Clamped Voltage Source Inverter (NPC VSI). For this, we use cascades based on respectively one, two or four two-level Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) current rectifier controlled by sliding mode control. In the first case, a clamping bridge composed by four switches and two resistors, in the second two switches and one resistor make up the bridge and no one is used in the last case. Those cascades are used for the speed control by sliding mode of a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine.
