Abstract: Various simulation technologies have been applied to vehicle-pedestrian impact accident reconstruction worldwide. Among all those approaches, the optimization method plays an important role. This study provides a new reconstruction method according to the characteristics of real-world vehicle-pedestrian accidents. According to the characteristic of vehicle-pedestrian impact accident reconstruction, the new optimization method is selected to replace the classical manual computation. And the pedestrian rest direction and pose on the ground are set as the optimization constraints, which turn out to be more precise. The purpose of this paper is to prove the capability and necessity for the new method. By reconstructing one real-world vehicle-pedestrian impact accident, the performance of the method is evaluated.
