Abstract: Abstract: Nowadays XML documents are prezented into the Web more than ever. Using XLink hyperlinks, a document can refer different portions of information in different documents into the Web. With XLink hyperlinks the XML documents in the Web can be investigated from querying point of view not just while browsing these documents. There are few implementations regarding XLink recommendation and just two implementations regarding quering XML documents using XPath/XQuery expressions in presence of XLink hyperlinks. On the other side XPath/XQuery has many implementations and wide support from IT leaders in the world. In this paper it is shown another way of using XPath/XQuery to query XML documents in presence of hyperlinks. The paper shows a model and its implementation. To materialize the new model it is used Saxon-B processor, with which was created an extention named BOTA. Prototype BOTA can be used in different web applications and easly can be integrated into Web!
Services in order to select something more narrow that the whole XML document. The prototype Bota especially can be used in applications with RSS and Atom.

Abstract: The purpose of HVAC appliances is to provide a comfortable environment and set the conditions for efficient work. The enhancement of buildings' energy performance puts emphasis on meeting the comfort requirements indoors, as the acceptable environments have to be provided from less energy. The comfort of the occupant is determined by the heat exchange between his body and his indoor environment. There are four local discomfort parameters that may cause discomfort on certain body parts even if whole body thermal comfort conditions are met. To help the modelling of thermal comfort conditions in buildings, on one hand we investigated, through human subject experiments, the combined effect of two discomfort parameters that are simultaneously present in the indoor space. Another modelling method is introduced in the second part of the paper where we show the results of CFD modelling of possible discomfort caused by natural ventilation required for air supply of gas appl!
iances.

Abstract: Abstract: - In the previous years the environmental consciousness of the society has become stronger also in Hungary. The bottleneck of this process is the lack of public information on environmental data. The Institute of Environmental Engineering, University of Pannonia has undertaken the challenge to develop an online environmental information system. This system is able to receive and process the collected environmental data via Internet. The aim of project to define physical and chemical parameters of surface waters and to support the hydro-geochemical elements of the typology with the analysis of the main ions and to the streams for pollution and apply Water Framework Directive (WFD) for examined water bodies further goal is to display result analysis via internet in Environmental Information System by its authors. In the first phase of mapping surface waters Hungarian streamlets were charted. Streams were categorized according to typology. The field measurem!
ent (temperature, pH, conductivity, chlorophyll-a, PAH) and laboratory texts (CODt, PO43-, NH4+, NO3-, NO2-, SO42-, Na+, Ca2+, Mg2+, K+, Si4+ Cd2+, Co2+, Cr3+, Ni2+, Zn2+) has been taken. Measured results have been compared with MSZ 12749 standards and accordingly streams were classified. Bedrock has taken effect via main ions of the water so this element of the typology has been proved by main ions. In the case of N and P forms only polluted sites were significantly different. On the homepage bar charts show measured values at different sampling sites of the streams. On the Google Map distances between two sampling sites were coloured according to water quality colour scale. The developed homepage contains such a techniques of visualization that makes, it easily understandable for everybody

Abstract: This paper is the result of a research project developed within the framework of the CEREX project– Models and Indicators for the Evaluation of Scientific Research in Universities in the Context of Knowledge Based Society, No. 2Cex 06-8-85/ 2006, granted by Excellence Research Program of Romanian Government. Abstract: The scope of our research is finding a correlation between the correctness indicator and the reliability indicator for software programs. For this, the correctness and reliability indicators will be calculated for a simple program, written in C programming language. The computations will be made for each program version obtained by correcting different error type found in the testing process. Will be observed there is a closed correlation between correctness and reliability in the way that for an increasing of the correctness level there will also be a significant increase of the reliability level.

Abstract: The purpose of our research is to find algorithms for loading large maps on PDA and place on it the geographical location given by latitude and longitude. C++ and C# programming languages have been used for implementation. It was elaborated a software which runs on PDA with Windows Mobile 2003 OS and implements algorithms for finding the coordinate on a map represented like a TIF image. The application must localize the coordinates known by longitude and latitude over a given image in TIF format which can represent a map with scale 1:200000 or 1:25000. The map headers contain information that refers to map limit. An algorithm that permits map synchronization when the value of current map is out of limit it was necessary.

Abstract: In this paper, an evaluation of the network routing algorithms is presented. Problems that arise in routing are treated, each envisaged in different scenarios in order to obtain a result in comparing different topologies. The comparison analysis is pursuing obtaining a result over the performance of the network. In order to measure performance, the costs of a network and the delays are aimed. After that, the topology effect is presented. In matter of performance, topology and blocking problems are strongly related. Therefore an analysis of the blocking probability is also presented. As conclusions, solutions for the presented scenarios and also for other important scenarios are given. In all these algorithms the time problem was not yet consider until now, so the average execution time is finally analyzed.

Abstract: In office buildings occupants do high intensity intellectual work in eight hours. Quality and quantity of completed tasks are elementary influenced by indoor comfort, particularly thermal environment and indoor air quality. Investigation of indoor air quality has brief history, although it is getting more important issue nowadays. At Department of Building Service Engineering and Process Engineering, research work has been carried out as industrial assignments as well as tenders, sponsored by Hungarian Scientific Research Fund. For indoor air quality examination a laboratory state has been developed. Several materials have been evaluated concerning emission rate and its effect on indoor air quality. Abstract: In accordance with EPBD, energy certification of buildings has been compulsory in Hungary. Additionally energy consumption of heating, air-conditioning, ventilation and lighting shall be calculated separately as well as energy performance of buildings. We worked out new evaluation method of energy consumption air handling units based on probability theory. The new calculation procedure has been developed, in order to determinate energy consumption of air handling units. To achieve this, outdoor climatic parameters (temperature, humidity, enthalpy) has been considered as varieties. Using this method, comparison between alternative air handling units can be made during the design process. Since annually fluctuation of outdoor condition is taken into consideration, unnecessary over-dimensioning can be also avoided.

Abstract: This paper attempts to give a brief summary of the concept, objectives and research methodology of comfort theory and, in particular, thermal comfort for international building service engineers. It also provides an overview of the findings of international research and the goals of ongoing Hungarian projects (mainly carried out at the Department of Building Service Engineering and Process Engineering at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics). Moreover, the importance of comfort theory and its application by engineers will be highlighted. We intend to present the basic equations of the classical comfort theory, the equations of the human body’s static heat balance, and the so called comfort equation as well as its sensitivity depending on the thermic parameters of the microclimate. The PMV expression describing the thermal comfort of the human body and its sensitivity, derivatives and cross-derivatives is emphasized, too. The concept of dynamic ther!
mal sensation and the possibilities of its research is going to be introduced, which is possible only through the presentation of system theory, system dynamics and regulation theory.

Abstract: This paper reports on particular aspects of ongoing research funded by the National University Research Council and conducted by an interdisciplinary team of academics from Transilvania University of Braşov, Romania, of which the authors of the present contribution are members. Abstract: Air pollution belongs to environmental threats. This paper deals with an application of selected algorithms used in decision trees in order to an air quality modelling. We focused on daily observations of air polluting substances concentrations in one of the cities in the Pardubice region in the Czech Republic. After data collection, data description, and data preprocessing, we worked on the creation of classification models and the analysis of the achieved results. As modeling algorithms we selected C5.0 algorithm, boosting, CHAID method and CR&T. Differences of results were minimal.

Abstract: One of the major problems of ensuring optimal working of ground source heat pump systems is a heat transfer around vertical ground heat exchanger. The working of vertical U-tube can be understood as a heat exchanger between the ground and the heat carrying medium. In our case this heat carrying medium is fluid, which transfers the extracted heat from the ground to the heat pump. In winter we extract heat from the ground and in summer we transfer heat to the ground. In our paper we propose a simple calculation model to calculate the temperature change and the thermal resistance in vertical ground heat exchangers with single U-tube installation. We made calculations to obtain the amount of extractable heat from the U-tube in the function of different mass flow. We did these calculations for several periods of time, 1 day, 1 year, 10 years. We found that the amount of extractable heat in winter and in summer is between 10 – 80 % in the function of mass flow, and with!
elapsing time its values decline.

Abstract: In the recent times, CFD simulations [1], with the advent of computer architectures with superfast processing capabilities are rapidly emerging as an attractive alternative to conventional wind tunnel tests which are either too restrictive or expensive, for aerodynamic styling of a car. The paper describes comparative assessment of two distinct experimental strategies of aerodynamic predictions by conventional wind tunnel approach and its subsequent validation with advanced computational procedures, carried out as a part of design process of a small hybrid car proposed to be named as ADRENe. The experimental investigations were performed on an open circuit suction type wind tunnel having a 30cm x 30cm x 100cm test section, on a geometrically similar, reduced scale (1:15) clay model, while the three dimensional computational analysis was carried out using Gambit as the preprocessing software and Fluent as the solver and post processor. A good agreement between per!
formance values obtained independently by two experimental methods, suggests their reliability and suitability for further experimentation purposes. The comparison with computational approach shows that the computed drag forces and pressure distributions agree well with the experimental values over the entire range of air velocities, however, the agreement with the data for drag coefficient varies, which appears to suggest a higher degree of dependency on the grid quality and elements selection.

Abstract: The following document examines the four-stroke gasoline engine, which is used for the operation of a small irrigation pump. The engine was fuelled by gasoline and gasoline-10%ethanol mixture. During the experiments air pollution caused by the engine and its fuel consumption was measured. The engines’ power output was estimated by measuring the discharge produced by the pump keeping the pressure stable. A series of laboratory instruments was used for the realisation of the experiments and the results showed that the use of gasoline-ethanol mixture results in a CO and HC reduction. Engine speed was decreased and fuel consumption increased when alcohol petrol mixture was used, but not significantly.

Abstract: The following experiment is based on the gas emissions (CO, HC, NOx) of a farm tractor with diesel engine. It has been used a laboratory investigation in order to loud the tractor engine and measure the emissions by using Diesel fuel. Then the tractor was used for ploughing a field and the exhaust emissions were measured. According to measurements an estimation of the total emissions produced during field works were made for winter wheat and maize for silage crops under Greek conditions. The results showed that considerable emissions are produced contributing to environmental pollution. CO emissions are much higher than HC and NOx.

Abstract: Due to the fact that petroleum is decreased in nowadays and also the fact that the environment sustains a lot of damage, it is necessary to be replaced by renewable fuels that can be used in the engines and are friendlily to the environment. This paper examines the use of diesel-sun oil mixtures in Diesel four-stroke engine. The mixtures used are the following: diesel-5% soy oil, diesel-10% soy oil, diesel-20% soy oil oil, diesel-30% soy oil, diesel-40% soy oil, diesel-50% soy oil. Abstract: This paper describes new computer system for measurement and control for laboratory system for recycling chromium from tannery waste. The system is used for research and verification of unique chromium-recycling technology based on enzymatic hydrolysis developed at our institute. As the original control equipment became outdated, it was necessary to rebuild the technology with modern means of automatic control. This paper introduces the whole system for chromium recycling with focus on the control structure of the most important parts of the technology. Abstract: Determinacy Analysis (DA) is a method that solves tasks of data mining (it enables to describe by the rules the subset of objects determined by the user). There are different treatments in DA: step by step and DAS-like in algoritmic view, one solution and multiple solutions as a result, additive and non-additive sets of rules in systematic view. Thereat the essence of the method itself does not change, only the rules change. There is a number of lacks in DA base algorithms: they are too labour-intensive (step by step approach) or they find only a limited set of rules (i.e. only one system of rules of many possible systems, in case of DAS). In this paper we show that DA can be reduced to the diclique finding task that is well-known from the graph theory, we present the prerequisites to take into account and explain how it influences the rules. The diclique-based DA enables to set up the DA tasks of new type: to find a system with minimal number of rules, to find a !
system with minimal number of shortest rules (for example). Reducing DA to a diclique finding task, the basis for the new generation of DA algorithms is founded.

Abstract: In this paper the modelling of the information , economic and social systems is presented. The models are based on the rough sets theory, and the fuzzy and rough sets theory. These models have represented two real information systems, and a system of an internal human population migration. The information systems are represented as a table where every column represents an attribute (a variable, a property). This attribute can be measured or may also be supplied by a human expert. To obtain the necessary data questionnaires were use. To the migration model selected socioeconomic data, indicators, are applied. Economic and demographic indicators that affect size of migration for districts in the Czech Republic are defined. In data pre-processing we focused on different processing of data inputs. It means for all indicators we used selected data discretization techniques. In the migration models creation phase we deal with a new design of membership function shapes an!

Abstract: Continuous piecewise linear models constitute useful tools to extract the basic features about the patterns of growth in complex time series data. In this work, we present an iterative algorithm for continuous piecewise regression with automatic change-points estimation. The algorithm requires an initial guess about the number and positions of the change-points or hinges, which can be obtained with different methods, and then proceeds by iteratively adjusting these hinges by displacements similar to those of Newton algorithm for function root finding. Abstract: Classification of network traffic is the essential step for many network researches. However, with the rapid evolution of Internet applications the effectiveness of the port-based or payload-based identification approaches has been greatly diminished in recent years. And many researchers begin to turn their attentions to an alternative machine learning based method. This paper presents a novel machine learning-based classification model, which combines ensemble learning paradigm with co-training techniques. Abstract: In this article we address the problem of determining how a structured formation of autonomous undistinguishable agents can be reorganized into another, eventually non-rigid, formation based on changes in the environment, perhaps unforeseeable. The methodology can also be used to correctly position the agents into a particular formation from an initial set of random locations. Given the information on the agents current location and the final locations, there are n! possible permutations for the n agents. Among these, we seek one that minimizes a total relative measure, e.g. distance traveled by the agents during the switching. We propose a dynamic programming methodology to solve this problem to optimality. Possible applications can be found in surveillance, damage assessment, chemical or biological monitoring, among others, where the switching to another formation, not necessarily predefined, may be required due to changes in the environment.

Abstract: In this paper it is explained a new approach for clustering Gene Ontology (GO) terms by examining microarray data related to them. By segmenting the entire ontology in a single specific level, and applying techniques as discrimination and ranking of features to those GO terms that are contained in that level, it is produced a characterization of the contained terms, as feature importance vectors related to the gene expression patterns that are included in the microarray dataset. By utilizing data mining techniques to cluster the vectors, it is concluded that this new approach may help to obtain relations that are normally hidden among GO terms, not only the ones in the same contained ontology, but also getting a trans-ontological relationship of them.

Abstract: Paper deals with design and implementation of portable data acquisition unit based on 8-bit microcontroller Freescale 68HC908GP32 in process control and supervision applications. Its hardware design is adopted to fulfill high reliability and immunity against industrial environment, high precision and compact dimensions. Communication with supervision system is performed via standard RS232 interface utilizing universal ASCII-based communication protocol which is supported by number of software environments. In order to improve development of new software applications with this device a support program libraries for Visual C++, Control Web and Matlab/Simulink was created. Abstract: The aim of the present study was to develop a new method for fast localization of the face from streaming colour video. In the method, the face is located by analysing local properties of four facial landmarks, namely, regions of eyes, nose, and mouth. The method consists of three stages. First, the face-like skin-coloured image region is segmented from the background and transformed into the grey scale representation. Second, the cropped image is convolved with Sobel operator in order to extract local oriented edges at 16 orientations. The extracted edges are further grouped to form regions of interest representing candidates for facial landmarks. The orientation portraits, which define the distribution of local oriented edges inside the located region, are matched against the edge orientation model to verify the existence of the landmark in the image. The located landmarks are spatially arranged into the face–like constellations. Finally, the best face-like const!
ellation of the landmark candidates is defined by a new scoring function. The test results showed that the proposed method located neutral, frowning, and smiling faces with high rates in real time from facial images under controlled head rotation variations.

In this design-science research, a new innovation in adult education, 'Network Design Specialisation Studies' is executed and evaluated. The theoretical background consists of Learning by Developing (LbD), expansive virtual learning and virtual empowerment, and adult learning. Laurea University of Applied Sciences' strategy is to integrate its three statutory tasks of education, research and development, and regional development by utilizing its LbD model. Laurea's Network Design Specialisation Studies splice virtual learning and LbD. Abstract: This paper describes the modeling of a two-vehicle convoy and the design of a vehicle following controller that tracks the trajectory of the vehicle ahead with prescribed inter-vehicle distance. Kinematic equations of the system are formulated applying standard robotic methodology. We consider autonomous vehicle following without any information obtained from road infrastructure or communicated from the lead vehicle. Assuming that the leader linear and angular velocities, as well the curvature radius of the path traveled by the lead vehicle, are unknown constant parameters, an adaptive tracking controller is proposed. With only the current inter-vehicle relative position and orientation available for feedback control, the control velocities of the following vehicle are computed using the leader velocity estimates obtained from the dynamic (adaptive) part of the proposed controller. For constant velocity maneuvers of the leader, at steady state, the two-vehicle con!
voy will travel concentric arcs of same radii with prescribed inter-vehicle spacing. For time-varying lead vehicle velocities, the proposed controller achieves ultimate boundness of the closed-loop system in error coordinate. Abstract: Digital watermarking was commenced to copyright protection and ownership verification of multimedia data. However the evolution of the watermark focused on different security aspects of multimedia data such as integrity and authenticity. Fragile and semi-fragile watermarking schemes were introduced to accomplish these requirements. In this paper, we propose semi-fragile watermarking scheme to authenticate visual content of the image. The proposed method occupies in DCT domain of the particular image. Low frequency components are considered as a visual content and authenticate particular number of low frequency components instead all coefficients. In this proposed scheme the watermark is the digital signature of the visual content. Authenticating the selected number of coefficient the proposed scheme reduces the computational complexity and cost. Digital signature is generated following the elliptic curve digital signature algorithm (ECDSA). Thus, the scheme is fast!

Experimental results shows watermark does not make any visual artifact on original data, however the degradation of compression ratio due to alternation in quantization table, is evaluated. Abstract: The Transaction Processing Monitor (TPM) is the most-used middleware in different e-commerce systems from large enterprises to medium and small businesses available in the internet. Due to its growing popularity, the necessity for a more efficient TPM performance is now the major concern between the developers and researchers. The need for a high-end benchmark platform for a TPM is at present very vital to meet the high performance needs of online transactions. Abstract: The paper presents the results of an experimental investigation of the von Karman vortices formation at the blade trailing edge of a large scale turbine cascade. The mean and time varying characteristics of the flow in the trailing edge region were measured by means of a two-component fiber-optic laser Doppler velocimeter over an experimental grid very close to the blade trailing edge. A phase locked ensemble averaging technique has been applied to separate coherent and incoherent contributions in the instantaneous LDV data. The trailing edge of the central blade of the cascade has been instrumented with a multisensor surface mounted hot-film probe. The probe outputs proportional to the instantaneous wall shear stress were sampled simultaneously with a filtered reference signal from a hot-wire probe located in the wake and sensitive to the vortex periodicity. Organised periodic structures have been clearly identified in the flow and their evolution in time has b!
een documented through a sequence of instantaneous pictures of the periodic flow field during a cycle of the vortex shedding. Time-averaged and time-resolved ensemble averaged wall shear stresses on the blade trailing edge help to identify the positions where the boundary layers separate and to analyze the effects of the vortex shedding on the wall shear stress along the trailing edge.

Abstract: The present paper analyzes adjacent channel interference in TETRA Direct Mode Operation (DMO) for indoor and outdoor environments. To determine minimal stay-away distance and interference area propagation model is used. Thus, a brief overview of free space, Bacon and CEPT SE21 propagation models, mentioned in the TETRA DMO standard is given and two-ray and multi-wall models are described and evaluated by field measurements. We found out, that the two-ray model is suitable for fast estimation of the TETRA DMO signal coverage in open flat area while the multi-wall model, taking into account the attenuation of walls between transmitter and receiver, gives good estimate of the signal levels for indoor applications. Those two models were used for the interference analyses. According to the calculated results two-ray model gives rather pessimistic values of the stay-away distance and interference area in open flat areas while multi-wall model is appropriate for the inter!

Abstract: In mammals, cytosines of most CpG dinucleotides in their genomes except gene promoters are subject to modification by methyl group (methylation). A number of genes in a mammal are regulated developmental- specifically or tissue-specifically by the methylation. Mammalian DNA methylation contributes to regulation of gene expression, repression of parasitic sequences, inactivation of X chromosome in female, genomic imprinting, etc. Aberrant methylation results in a part of cancers and genetic diseases in human. Therefore it is required that methylation status on human genome is comprehensively revealed in each kind of cells. However, since comprehensive methylation analyses require a lot of times and large labor, methylation status on only a part of genomic regions is revealed in mammals. Because of this, machine learning using already known methylation data and prediction of methylation status on other genomic regions are important. Moreover, since sequence differenc!
es between DNA regions showing different methylation status also remain unclear, those differences should be also determined. Therefore we conducted machine learning by support vector machine using our previously reported methylation data, and predicted methylation status on DNA sequences using DNA sequence features. Furthermore we explored different sequence features among four types of methylation using random forest. Consequently high methylation prediction accuracies were observed between two different methylation status pairs. Moreover it was revealed that sequences containing CG, CT or CA were important for discrimination between them.

Abstract: In this paper, the earth dam overtopping risk theory for cascade reservoirs is developed considering all uncertainties of inflow flood, wind wave, reservoir storage, discharge capacity and interactions between two consecutive reservoirs. The theory for cascade reservoirs is generalized from the overtopping risk theory for single reservoir developed by previous researchers . A computational method for risk, called AFOSM-JC method for cascade reservoirs, is developed according to the risk computation method such as Direct integration, Monte Carlo, MFOSM, AFOSM, Rackwitz¡ªFiessler(JC), WU method, and so on. A case study for two existing reservoirs in series is given by applying the method and corresponding computational procedure presented herein. In the application the overtopping risk is calculated for a series of cascade reservoirs including Xiao Nanhai and Zhang Wu reservoirs; and the possibility of driving up the limiting level before flood (LLBF) is discussed.
