Abstract: In this paper, we develop a cross-layer based joint algorithm for power control and scheduling. We applied the algorithm in CDMA wireless adhoc networks to determine the optimum set of admissible users with optimum transmitting power level, so as to minimize the interference level and call rejection rate. Using the two alternating phases namely scheduling and power control, the multiple access problem is solved. As part of a contention-based multiple access protocol, the concept of power control has been initiated. It characterizes successful transmissions, which are depending on a set of signal-to-interference-and-noise ratio (SINR) constraints (which directly translates to quality of service (QoS) constraints on the bit-error rate (BER) at individual receivers). So as to eradicate strong levels of intervention that cannot be trounce by power control, the scheduling algorithm is necessary in permitting the transmissions of static and mobile users of multi service !
classes. The performance of our algorithm in a set of admissible and non-admissible users has been assessed using simulation results. Moreover, it is exposed that power control algorithm converges for a set of admissible users.
