Abstract: Arnica montana is a phytotherapic commonly used for a medicinal purpose due to its anti-inflammatory effects. The ultrasound equipment is used the same way in Physiotherapy to control inflammatory signs like pain and edema, besides propagating substances through the skin, by phonophoresis, due to its capacity of altering the cell membrane permeability, this way providing substance absoption increasing. Considering the Arnica montana effects, from phonophoresis technique through the ultrasound and the medicines technological development of vegetal origin, this study's general aim is to investigate Arnica montana degradation when undergone to the therapeutic ultrasound use through phonophoresis using Chronoamperometry and cyclic and cyclic voltammetry techniques. Samples of Arnica montana glycolic extract in a glycolic extract in a 100 mL/L dilution were used. The ultrasound was put into practice at pulsate and continuous mode (at a 100 Hz with 20% pulse duration cyc!
les) at a 1.0 W/cm2 intensity and in times of 0, 5, 15 and 25 minutes. The cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry were performed before and after the Arnica montana samples exposure to ultrasound, thus forming analytic curves compared to the ones obtained in the absence of radiation. As a result it was concluded that the ultrasound physical and chemistry's action provides electrochemistry alteration of studied substrate (Arnica montana) involving solvent (water) and extract as well. Furthermore, the findings show the possibility of Arnica montana's possibility of degradation detection through cyclic voltammetry and/or chronoamperometry techniques.
