Abstract: In this paper, wheelchair system that help ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) patients other who can't use physical interface such as joysticks or gaze tracking. The system must be usable in hospitals and homes with minimum infrastructure modification. It must be safe and relatively low cost and must provide optimal interaction between the user and wheelchair within the constraints of brain computer interface. We have built the working prototype of a brain controlled wheelchair that can navigate inside a typical offices and hospitals environment. In our wheelchair system feature extraction was formed using wavelet packet transform (WPT) coefficients in the relevant frequency band that gives the best discrimination between the directions of wheelchair. Radial Basis Function network was used to classify the signals.
