Abstract: An elearner is any person using electronic means as a learning medium. A profile is a set of unique characteristics of a given person, as far as learning habits are concerned. The task of elaborating a profile is one of the most challenging, especially in elearning settings where entities are scattered over the Web space, whereby people from different cultures and background constantly interact. Can a system offer a unique behavior related to the uniqueness of each and every elearner? This is the issue addressed in this paper with the attempt to answer positively. We propose to use fuzzy logic to express gradual and imprecise membership and agent paradigm to express autonomy for mapping percepts coming from the environment into correct actions under the control of the logic embodied within it. The proposed elarning environment is capable of effective delivery of personalized courseware to elearners. As an example, we are given a set of courses displayed on the Web,!
a set of disciplines to which these courses belong, a number of visiting times any prospective elearner makes to the Web site. The system automatically constructs a profile for this elearner; a profile that is capable of predicting this elearner's future behavior i.e. what this elearner is planning to do without letting him explicitly express his query. One version of the system, a prototype, is implemented using Matlab. A second version is based on Microsoft™ .NET Technology, such as C#.NET™ with the object-oriented built-in characteristics. This results in the development of an advanced fuzzy agent-based system for elearner profile construction capable of predicting human behavior during the process of elearning while offering an intelligent Graphical User Interface (GUI), for each and every elearner, on a stand-alone basis or over the Web space.
