Abstract: Detecting network intrusions has been yet difficult job in network security. Intrusion detection system aim to identify attacks detection with a high detection rate and a low false alarm rate. Given these requirements of todays network environments, IDS needs to be developed. In this paper, Scatter Search Clustering(SSC) with intrusion detection will be presented. SSC is a new direction to solve clustering problems which based on a well known evolutionary algorithms called Scatter Search (SS). This algorithm has the capability to determined the number of clusters and cluster centers. The result of simulation run on intrusion data set shows that SSC is an effective for intrusion detection
