Abstract: A robust strategy is proposed for malicious node detection, localization and tracking in Cluster based Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) deploying distributed scheme for malicious node detection and precise scheme for localization and tracking in dynamic environment. Certificate authority (CA) node is selected as the most stable node among trusted nodes, surrounded by Registration authority nodes (RAs) in each cluster to generate the Dynamic Demilitarized Zone (DDMZ) to defend CA from probable attackers and mitigate the authentication overhead. In addition, RAs also co-operate member nodes to detect its target node whether malicious or not, by providing the public key certificate and trust value. Regarding localization, three reference nodes are elected based on Selection Criteria Function (SCF) in each cluster for triangulation. Triangulation method based on Time difference of arrival (TDOA), is deployed to locate all nodes with respect to three reference nodes insi!
de the cluster. All nodes could achieve and broadcast their location information only for small time interval because all nodes are frequently busy in transmitting and receiving data. This is addressed by the modified real time Position Localization and Tracking (PL&T) algorithm to localize the desired authenticated node in proactive direction by mapping the power contours of tracking zone into coverage radii distance. Similarly, multilateration method based on TDOA is used to localize malicious node from its neighbor nodes so that the false data trigger and hidden node problem can be solved and later tracked by modified PL&T. Simulation illustrates the outstanding results of the proposed strategy in CA, RA and reference node election, malicious node detection, localization using triangulation as well as multilateration and modified PL&T in different MANET clusters.
