Abstract: This article deals with the use of mobile applications in companies in the Czech Republic. Published results, obtained from our own research between 2008 and 2009, serve to answer such questions as: "What areas of business processes are mobile applications most used in the Czech Republic?" The market for mobile phones has expanded rapidly during the past decade and continues to grow quickly. The focus was on the business processes relating to the applications used to communicate with customers, to collect data in the field, to manage remote devices and access to a company's internal information systems. The article also describes three main revenue sources in mobile communications: transactions, information and advertising. Transactions are of high interest, yet as of now only to a limited extent, because of the small size of the screen and the clumsy usage of the keypad. With information services the crucial issue is the user's willingness to payfor these types of!
services. Does mobile advertising have a potential to be a significant source of revenue in the future?
