Abstract: Being the first step of production cutting has a vital role in garment industry. It can be done according to the "marker making picture" which is prepared in the frame of "calculations of fabric lay quantities". So, time of cutting is measure by the size number in the marker making picture, part count, and marker making length. What would be ideal for the production efficiency in cutting houses is to cut down on the length of a marker making and raise the count of the fabric layers. However, the cutting speed preferred high for the same fabric kind would remain slower than lower layer count ones. That's why; to be able to estimate the cutting time is very important to decide which "calculations of fabric lay quantities" is ideal in terms of time and labour resources. Because, predicting the cutting time in an optimum level will have an effect on the production efficiency and daily production capacity. In this work, artificial neural network is proposed to handle !
to estimating the marker making cutting time .With the help of ANN method, the data which is gathered about various marker making lengths and cutting times (fabric layer count, blade speed, size number in one layer, marker making length, cutting time) can be applied to the system. Previously high numbered orders were talked about; however; nowadays variety is increased and numbers of orders are decreased accordingly. To satisfy the customer; time estimations gained an important role.
