Abstract: The goal of this study is to develop a wheelchair seat height adjustment mechanism providing an individualized adjustment function. A holistic planning process is employed to realize the goal of automatic adjustment of wheelchair seat height, and RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology is employed to enable height adjustment. The resulting technology can provide the elderly, the disabled, and other persons with the capacity to get around more on their own, and to not have to rely on others as much, so that daily frustrations can be kept down, helping make their everyday lives smoother, time-saving, and most importantly, help people with mobility impairment retain self-respect and self-confidence. Benefits to society are that it will ease the burden of medical personnel and caregivers, and effectively help reduce costs. RFID technology is currently seen as one of the most important technological developments in the 21st century. RFIDs have a wide range of !
applications, but are chiefly used for identification and flow tracking. RFIDs offer the advantages of high accuracy, fast processing speed, and ability to conserve manpower. In the system proposed in this paper, a wheelchair is equipped with a RFID reader, while the user carries a personal RFID tag. When the user approaches the wheelchair, the reader on the wheelchair will read the data on the user's personal tag, match the user's data with the corresponding data (such as identity, seat height, etc.) on a back-end server database, and perform necessary data retrieval to provide seat height reference information to the servo motor. Because information is transmitted via a wireless network, after a user's tag is read by the reader, the wheelchair can immediately begin adjusting seat height. When the user arrives at the wheelchair, which has already completed seat height adjustment, the user will not need anyone else's assistance and can easily sit in the wheelchair. The syst!
