Abstract: In the speed sensorless control of the PMSM, the very low speed control is difficult because the machine parameters have a strong influence to the speed estimation. There are two types for the speed and position estimation of PMSMs: one group is based on the detection of the rotor back-emf which is called fundamental-excitation methods and the other one based on the magnetic saliency which is signal injection methods. Hybrid methods use both of these types and usually change the method as the rotor speed varies. A proposal for a design strategy has been outlined. The simulation results show the functionality of the proposed method.
