Abstract: Local utilities face new challenges under changing conditions of the energy sector by the application of decentralized energy management systems which strongly depend on information of the grid state. Due to distribution grids are not entirely observed missing data has to be approximated i.e. using load profiles. Furthermore, future distribution grids have to offer system services similar to transmission systems and thus reactive power profiles are strongly needed for demand management, stability concerns and cost optimization. In this paper a method to determine load profiles based on measured time-series is introduced as well as eleven independent reference profiles of reactive power of classified load types. In combination with existing active load profiles the gained information shall be used for state identification of underdetermined grids, to support energy management systems and to forecast load demands.
