Abstract: This paper proposes a new model to analyze the behavior of the WFQ scheduler in a DiffServ network node with LRD traffic. The model aims to simplify WFQ by treating queues separately. The RTT, Ploss and latency values for the model under several different circumstances (namely, different utilization factors, buffer sizes and weight setups) are compared to those obtained via NS-2 simulations. One of the advantages of this model is that much less processing time is needed to reproduce results that could otherwise only be obtained through lengthy simulations.
