Abstract: The present paper will investigate adaptive reuse and sustainability of existing buildings and historic ones by having special consideration for Iran's climate change. In this paper we take it to mean the strengthening, changing, or improving the existing facilities such as those facilities meeting with current performance requirements necessary for their intended use. We show that adaptive reuse and rehabilitation of existing structures and historic ones should be a central strategy for creating a sustainable environment which meets with human needs while maintaining the natural environment in a healthy and useful state. Drawn conclusions would provide guidelines for sustainable rehabilitation projects. The main concentration will be on reusing of the adapted historic buildings in order to make them more Sustainable and as a result to reduce the climatic change impacts in Iran.
