Abstract: A soft computing arithmetic based on Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) is proposed to estimate vehicle yaw rate in a driver-vehicle closed loop system, which consists of an Electric Power Steering (EPS) system model, a three-degree-of-freedom (3DOF) time-varying vehicle model and a driver model. In this article, vehicle yaw rate is considered as a nonlinear mapping of time series of rack displacement and lateral acceleration, and the algorithm is tied in the transfer characteristic of steering operation in EPS system, the effect of load transfer, as well as the effect of the interaction between driver and vehicle. Simulation study on soft computing of vehicle yaw rate in the driver-vehicle closed loop system has been conducted here by MATLAB. The performance of the soft computing arithmetic based on ANFIS is evaluated under double lane change maneuvers using an actual vehicle. The results indicate that the generalization of the soft computing arithmetic!
based on ANFIS is better than that based on Radial Basis Function (RBF) neural network. And the soft computing arithmetic based on ANFIS can accurately estimate vehicle yaw rate.
