Abstract: In this paper, the concept of stability in designing the microwave amplifier is re-visited. The determination of the microwave amplifier stability is significantly simplified through the derivation of Geometrically-Derive Source (µsource) and Load (µload) Stability Factors along with the Rollet Stability Factor (K-Factor). Along the way, various proven stabilization method were analyzed with the help of RF/Microwave EDA tools and the effects of stabilization elements towards the amplifier's stability were systematically assessed. Emphasize were given to the resistive loading techniques due to the practicality and effectiveness towards elevating the stability factors (µsource, µload and K-Factor). Effects of each resistive loading technique towards amplifier's small-signal performance were thoroughly discussed and demonstrated using the Avago Technologies' ATF-50189 E-pHEMT medium power amplifier
