Abstract: The theoretical analysis, the simulation and the circuit imple-mentation and evaluation of a current mirror with remarkable performance characteristics compared to conventional designs is presented. The proposed design is mainly used for biasing and cur-rent transfer although it could be used as a load in amplifier stages. Following the well-known trade-offs when designing current mir-rors between impedance, current transfer ratio, area on chip, power consumption, voltage-headroom and expandability the new current mirror design exhibits very high output impedance and excellent current transfer ratio at the expense of voltage-headroom.
