Abstract: For the dual-sensor system, this paper, based on the TOAs (time of arrival) of periodic signal of constant-speed moving target, proposes the estimation algorithms of range, velocity, velocity components and position coordinates, and analyzes the respective observability for above target motion parameters. In addition to the situation of target motion on the sensor axis, these algorithms can estimate the range and velocity of moving target in three-dimensional space, and make two-valued estimations of velocity components and position coordinates for two-dimensional target and then obtain two upper and lower trajectories symmetrical to the connecting line of the two sensors. The false trajectory can be excluded by the information of the region or bearing of moving target and then the target can be located. The complexity of positioning system can be reduced by using two sensors to position the moving target. If only two sensors receive the signals of moving target i!
n the multi-sensor TDOA (time different of arrival) positioning system, the location of that target can also be equally achieved using the method of target motion analysis, enhancing the adaptability of the system. The simulation results verify the validity of the proposed algorithms and make contrastive analysis of the estimated accuracies for various velocity, range and positioning algorithms, and show that those based on dual sensor are better than that of single sensor.
