Abstract: The computational complexity is found relatively higher in wireless sensor networks (WSN) as multiple sensing nodes send signals to and receive from the sink or neighbor node. The energy of signals gradually decays as signals travel away from the source. This results in low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) which increases the bit-error-rate (BER). The higher values of BER decrease the throughput of the network, which severely distorts communication efficiency of WSN. Generally, low SNR is considered as quality of communication issue, which is merely a misconception. In this paper, we analyze impact of SNR on WSN-security using an assessment technique [1]. We develop an association of SNR to WSN-security using Parameter-Security-Relationship (PSR) scheme [2]. Here, we observe that SNR-Security-Relationship along the SNR-variance (rate of change of SNR-variations) can also be used to extract information about security conditions of a given WSN. Based on simulation results!
, we show that, if a cut-off value of SNR-variance is allocated to a specific application then, a WSN-security can be assessed before some real-time WSN deployment. Our work, in this paper, is a contribution to the preventive security measurements in the field of WSN-security.
