Abstract: A strategy for fuzzy decision making in autonomous robots is proposed in this paper. The Microcontroller based Robot has energy and operational autonomy, with the ability to roam in a structured environment and avoid obstacles that hinder its free path, without external intervention. Locomotion of the Autonomous Robot is done via stepper motors. The robot receives signals from infrared sensors and the control strategy is developed by taking the following decisions: move right, forward and left. The signals from the infrared sensors are processed by the fuzzy controller and the control strategy is performed so that the robot can avoid the obstacles efficiently. Simulation results for the Microcontroller based Autonomous Robot with the proposed fuzzy strategy are presented.
