Abstract: A thermistor is a thermally sensitive resistor whose electrical conductivity changes drastically by orders of magnitude as the temperature reaches a certain value. Basis of its working is an electrical conductivity that is highly nonlinear function of temper- ature. The current °owing through the device drives internal Joule heating. They are used in the medical ¯eld for localized and general body temperature measurement, in meteorology for weather forecasting chemical industries as process temperature sensors as well as temperature control elements in large variety of military and industrial equip- ment ranging from space vehicles to air conditioning controllers. In the present work, a numerical approach is applied to ¯nd the solution of a PTC problem. Numerical results are found to be in good agreement with the exact solution available.
