Abstract: This paper is part of the research conducting by the researcher on the adaptation of SBRS (Sustainable Building Rating System) for Malaysian Buildings. This paper has been divided into three sections. The first section explained about principle of sustainability, sustainable development, sustainable building design and SBRS. The second section describe about development, knowledge, cost benefit and legislation interest on SBRS issue. The third section reviews and compare various SBRS to get the appropriate SBRS to be adapted for the study. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the suitable SBRS to be adapted and to determine the reason for selection.
